Janet has said she and her husband were having problems and her husband was unemployed while she was on Fresh Prince. Monique's "daddy" husband works for her and Monique said they borrowed money from Kevin Harr. Why are other men being totally blamed for their downfall? I believe Will gave Janet money which is why she really stopped complaining. Netflix paid Monique to put an end to the whole discussion. Everyone isn't meant to be a big star. People have to accept some of the blame for what happens in their lives.

I think you may have missed the point, however.
When she wants more money, she expects people to give it to her and "do what's right" based on relationships. But when they asked her to promote the movie overseas, she fell back to, well, I did what I was contractually obligated to do. Well, they paid you what they were contractually obligated to pay you, so yall should be good.

Monique did not know how to play the Hollywood game, and it costed her. A true actor wouldn't have passed up the opportunity to network at a Cannes Film Festival. She wanted to do it her way, and Hollywood showed her who has the power.

Let's get it the story straight, the movie had a budget of $10M, yes Mo was paid $50k, however, Gabby was paid $30k and she was the main character. A $10M budget goes fast when you have to pay taxes, staff, equipment, city fees, state fees, filming fees, ordinance fees, filing fees, etc. Not to mention paying high vis celebrities to be in the movie to draw attention to the film in hopes people will come see it. Mariah Carey was reportedly paid $2mil, then there's Lenny Kravitz, Paula Patton, even Jamie Foxx whose character was removed but was still paid. All of them promoted the movie and not paid to do it. Lenny Kravitz minimum to appear in anything is $750k. Imagine Paula Patton and Jamie Foxx. The known and marketable performers will always be paid more because companies bank on them to bring the crowd. Mo wasn't and still isn't that. She's now more known for her beefs than her actual skill, which somehow has helped her in getting attention.

It benefits them in the long run. Every other person in that film promoted it with no issues without being paid except her. He however had no experience dealing with things like these as to why she missed out on so many other opportunities prior to that film and after. When a movie is made it’s made for small money or whatever lee Daniels could afford. Then, Lee must sell his movie but it must do well at film festivals like Cannes first. The studios are there to gage reactions and if they like, they buy the movie from Lee. Once Lee gets paid , the studios push and promote to the rest of us.

No matter how many times she tells this story the facts are the same. She made a choice not to go to Canne for a few days to promote an independent film that was picking up momentum. She decided she didn't want to promote this leg of the promotional tour. Fine. To then go to blame the producers, who came in later to support the film, because Daniels didn't have the budget to do that, is the definition of someone hard to work with. After this and the experience that Will Packer had with her on Next Christmas no wonder it's tough for her to find work in the movies or on the TV machine.

It was an independent film that Lee Daniels paid for out of pocket no one gets paid a lot from an independent film
