On the heels of what Byron Allen is doing with Comcast right now, it’s all important. It might not go their way, but the discussion about pay parity and access to markets is important.
Mo'Nique's husband nailed it when he said, "If it is an individual problem, when it comes to Black female comedians, it's: 'What have you done lately? And, when it comes to white female comedians, it's...'" And, Mo'Nique is right that when it comes to people who look like us that we are our worst persecutor when it comes to defending our own in race-biased claims. That's because we have been racially socialized to believe that we will never be as good as, or better than, our white counterpart, and that, therefore, are not worthy of equal pay. Mo'Nique is most definitely right. Bottom line, all of us are not consciously aware, and this is only one of the unconscious manifestations of believing that those among us who are considered top talent by masses are still not worthy of competitive pay with their white counterpart - and that's why some believe that the Black talent must make her perspective, "make sense." Wake up, Leonard, or Lenard.

And, Mo'Nique is right that when it comes to people who look like us that we are our worst persecutor when it comes to defending our own in race-biased claims.
That's because we have been racially socialized to believe that we will never be as good as, or better than, our white counterpart, and that, therefore, are not worthy of equal pay. Mo'Nique is most definitely right.
Bottom line, all of us are not consciously aware, and this is only one of the unconscious manifestations of believing that those among us who are considered top talent by masses are still not worthy of competitive pay with their white counterpart - and that's why some believe that the Black talent must make her perspective, "make sense." Wake up, Leonard, or Lenard.
All that Leonard had to do is apologize for calling Mo’Nique the donkey of the day but his pride would not let him. As liberal as the entertainment industry is, there is a tremendous amount of inequality when it comes to salaries. And unfortunately Black women get paid the least.
