Yet that was still not good enough, always being told to do more work! I've finally, like Monique, realized my wotlrth and had the bravery to say "no more!" If they have the exact same job, and the exact same experience.. they make the exact same amount. It is illegal otherwise. Unless you take a statistics class, you can be easily fooled by statistics. Often times they don't paint the whole picture. They cherry pick information they want, and don't factor in the other important variables. A lot of times these statistics say something like "a black woman with a bachelor's degree only make 65% of what white men with a bachelor's degree make". What is their degree in? If you are comparing a Bachelor's in Social Work to a Bachelor's in computer engineering they won't have the same rate of pay. If you are comparing a bachelors in nursing to a bachelors in nursing.. do they work in different states? That changes things. Does one work for a private doctor's office and the other a public hospital? That makes a difference.

This interview just makes me feel better about how I responded to the abuse I endured on my last job that literally gave me PTSD. I was working with a white woman, the white boss got enraged at both of us for the same thing (which was leaving when it was out time to go) he backed me in a corner, I told him I had to get home to my kids, he basically said my kids can wait, he did none of that to the white girl….he called us to his office to talk to each of us individually…I told her to put her phone on record, put it in her purse and let me take it in his office, so I did just that and it stayed recording as he was talking to her. After if was over I played the recording…he told me that I needed the job, but he told her that none of it was her fault and reassured her that nothing would be done to her. I went to the NAACP. I negotiated a nice amount of money off of that situation because I stood my ground. Take a stand black women!!

What an amazing, insightful interview! I’ve heard this story before, but not like this… you can tell that she is 100% telling the truth. They owe her a public apology… As much as Monique has done career-wise, she only became labeled as “difficult” after Precious. We need to start holding some ppl accountable and appreciate the genius that she is! Great job, TS Madison!! ❤️

I pray that Monique comes out of her lawsuit victorious! I know god will redeem her! She went against the Hollywood machine. This happens everyday for women of color in the work force. Less pay, pressured to be obligated to do tasks not in their jobs, and women who dare to speak out are in fear! As a Native American woman, I’ve worked in a full white office with only one black sister. We were made to do tasks that were not required in our job description and talked down to by our supervisors.
Know your worth ladies and walk away! God will put you where you deserve!

I always supported Monique and this interview further solidifies my reasoning for doing so. Black women have so many expectations placed on us but not nearly enough credit applied to us for the struggle, the strength and endurance we must maintain to deal with half the shyt we do. What's worse about this situation is the people doing this to Monique are from the Black Community, but that's no shock to me.
