Полиняно а Маре е бижу кацнало на скалите на италианското Адриатическо крайбрежие и вероятно е най-популярното място за снимки в Пулия. Той е комбинация от прекрасни морски пейзажи, тюркоазено синьо море, скали и пещери, бели къщи, каменни улички, традиционни магазинчета и множество заведения.

В миналото районът е бил обитаван от тюлени монаси. До него може да се стигне по каменните стълби, разположени зад моста Ponte Borbonico. Polignano a Mare is a jewel perched on the cliffs of Italy's Adriatic coast and is probably the most popular photo spot in Puglia. It is a combination of beautiful seascapes, turquoise blue sea, rocks and caves, white houses, stone streets, traditional shops and numerous restaurants.
This charming seaside town is built on sheer limestone cliffs plunging over the blue waves of the Adriatic Sea. There are caves in the rocks that were once used to store goods unloaded from ships.
The old town is reached by passing under the arch of the old Roman gate Arco Marchesale o Porta Grande. This is how you end up in a small square with shops and various establishments in the Centro Storico - the heart of Polignano. Its narrow, maze-like streets meander among beautiful buildings with colorful shutters and numerous shops and restaurants. In many places - on walls, doors, stairs, written poetic words can be seen. There are several panoramic terraces in the city, from which beautiful landscapes of the sea and the rocky coast are revealed.
A few steps from the historic center of Polignano is the small rocky but extremely picturesque Lama Monachile beach - a small bay with crystal clear waters, indented like a blade between the rocks towering on both sides. In the past, the area was inhabited by monk seals. It can be reached by the stone stairs located behind the Ponte Borbonico bridge. The bridge is a landmark left over from the ancient Roman road Via Traiana, built by Emperor Trajan to connect Benevento in Campania with Brindisi in Puglia.
Not far from Lama Monachile beach is the statue of a man with outstretched arms. This is the singer Domenico Modugno, the pride of the townspeople. Behind this statue there are stairs that, if one descends, one will find oneself on a large flat rock called Pietra Piatta, from where one can enjoy a beautiful view of the historic center of Polignano a Mare. A good way for one to enjoy this mesmerizing place is to take a boat tour to the numerous sea caves located at the foot of the town's cliffs.
Walking through the streets of the old town, we encounter different cultural influences - Arab, Byzantine, Spanish and Norman, which form a mixture of architectural styles and colors and turn Polignano a Mare into an interesting place for tourists to visit.
