The dedication to the remaster for those 2D cutscenes is unreal, it was surreal to me how spot on it all was! I would say the lines on Kent Brockman felt a touch too thick but I was blown away by the quality of Quimby and the rest of it!
Hey, as a person who has years of experience with toon modeling, I have some suggestions that might help your problems: Let me say first that I don’t know the exact tools you’re working with, so I don’t know the limits of what you’re able to do. But I’m assuming the cel shader you’re using isn’t actually a true cel shader. Rather it’s a post processing effect that turns off lighting and outlines the outside of objects. So I’m gonna work off that assumption here. On bart’s no-nose issue: for blender, look up the “inverted hull method”. Essentially it involves using a solidify modifier to duplicate and flip the mesh so that the second mesh is only visible from certain angles, thus creating true outlines. It sounds complicated, but it actually only takes 30 seconds to set up. On bart’s weird shadows: look up “toon normal editing”, again for blender. This one’s a lot more complicated so it’s not really needed if you don’t plan on having realtime shadows. On Lisa’s hair: look up “billboards”. They’re meshes that always face the camera. This would not be done in blender, but in-engine. One final tip: if you still feel you’re not getting enough definition, try manually painting lines or cel shading directly on the textures. For example, the spikey bits of bart’s hair could be outlined in black on the texture sheet so they’re always visibly outlined no matter the angle. I hope this comment isn’t overwhelming (or condescending). I just find half the battle is knowing the terminology of the problem you’re looking to fix. I hope I was helpful, and good luck with the remaster! I’m in awe at your hand drawn animation!
@@goku_dunker_420 yeah, a lot of my learning was spent figuring stuff out myself. BUT in the past few years there’s been a ton of new resources and youtube channels for this stuff! For example, Raymond Cripp’s development logs have super good explanations of concepts, and Royal Skies has great 2 minute tutorials. And if you’re looking for more advanced stuff, Daniel Kreuter, Nhij Quang, and Activemotionpictures are all incredible. Edit: also since I just realized you said all 3D art and not stylized, I’ll add on Blender Guru’s 3D donut tutorial.

From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years going back to Babylon and before, C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate once you start a relationship with God tho.
Can't get a response from God? Fasting can help increase your perception and prayer can help initiate events. God will ignore you if your prayer does not align with His purpose (James 4:3) or if you are approaching Him when "unclean" (Isaiah 1:15, Isaiah 59:2, Micah 3:4). Stop eating food sacrificed to idols (McDonald's, Wendy's etc) stop glorifying yourself on social media or making other images of yourself (Second Commandment), stop gossiping about other people, stop watching obscene content etc and you should get a response. Have a blessed day!
@@bannah6400 // Sir, this is a video about the Simpsons: Hit and Run, not a video by some religious nut jobs.
For you, it may not feel like it some days. But the work you do is what great animators are made of. Groening, Povenmire and Marsh, Hillenberg, Hartman. Tartakovsky. They only did what they did for themselves and for us. And stuff like this, is why they did it. Keep it up Gato!
Wow, the cutscenes look FANTASTIC!
The Lisa model... yeah, I think it's best to leave it vanilla. Same for cell-shaded Bart. If we could find a way to make them look like they did in The Simpsons Game it would be the best possible result, but until then I guess it's better if we leave it as is.
Overall, you're doing an AMAZING job, my guy!
this guy is absolutely insane for doing all of this for a fan project and i love every second of it
Man, this is such a thought out remaster. I am looking forward to seeing the next update!
Oh my God, dude. The 2D animation and drawings look as good as the show! That is absolutely amazing!
Going above and beyond to follow Matt's style of how he created The Simpsons, and then seeing it in practice as essentially perfect is truly going that extra step for this mod. Well done! Very well done!
infamous 2 fan spotted, two thumb up 👍👍
Dude just deadass studied Simpsons art style and applied it to redo 3D animations in 2D. That's some *stupid* dedication and I absolutely love it. I'm now subbed and I wanna see where this goes, because this looks amazing.
Those redone cutscenes look so good, they look like they came from the official studio!
The dedication to the remaster for those 2D cutscenes is unreal, it was surreal to me how spot on it all was!
I would say the lines on Kent Brockman felt a touch too thick but I was blown away by the quality of Quimby and the rest of it!
Hey, as a person who has years of experience with toon modeling, I have some suggestions that might help your problems:
Let me say first that I don’t know the exact tools you’re working with, so I don’t know the limits of what you’re able to do.
Awesome information
I’m sure this would be really helpful!
I wonder if there's a place for knowing the terminology for all 3D art, because some stuff is confusing as hell to figure out without the right words
It sounds silly but he uses modeling a donut to walk you through learning the tools and terminology of blender.
@@NutyRiver I know about the donut and all that, but I had a glitch when doing it that I couldn't get rid of so I just moved on. I'm currently doing animation and figuring the ins and outs of it
The cutscenes in 2d is actually a nice touch and an eloquent fix to work around your abilities. Nice work.
This looks absolutely stunning, I'm suprised how amazing the cutscenes look
4:49 looks just like a scene in the show! Jesus!
Personally, the fact youre doing the cutscenes in 2D animation is fucking mindblowing. Like, I wish the original was done that way in the first place so the cutscenes would hold up today.
"Rotoscopy didn't look right so I just learned how to draw the characters using design references from Matt Groening"
Well, damn. You did a great job.
While I feel the character models could use some work (I didn’t even realize they were from The Simpsons Game until it was pointed out) the 2d cutscenes are amazing and honestly look like official art
Thank you for demonstrating what is possible with passion and diligence, and it's clear you are very talented as well.
I'm assuming we're a long way away from this being available but maybe someone important will notice your hard work and hire you for an official remaster project this is some seriously impressive work my guy
That's what i was thinking. At this point they could hire him and flesh his 'team' out with a handful of others to speed things up and call it an official remaster.
You have my immense respect on being willing to hand draw and learn how to animate the characters.
I’ve never played this, but I now will once the mod is released.
SO far amazing dude! The mod looks really awesome! I still do watch The Simpsons. But with Disney+
Everything here is amazing, especially the animation! It's so accurate to the official style!
I can not believe the amount of love and passion you are putting into this. absolutley insane.
Dudes also hilarious. This is next level stuff.
Dudes also hilarious. This is next level stuff.
"DON'T EAT FEEF" I am dyslexic and I clocked that
Excellent work, that intro shot is amazing!
The fact that you decided to animate the cutscenes from scratch shows how much love you are putting into the project, its much more than a simple mod, you really want to do a remake of this classic, i take my hat off to you.
Bro you’re literally recreating a masterpieces with so much talent, the state of the current gaming industry is so unbelievably bad with all that cooperate none sense. So impressive that you managed to do this all by yourself
Those 2d cutscenes looks phenomenal! Literally looks like the show, great job! 👏
the way bart looks when he tilts his head forward in the last clip is too perfect. Fantastic work!
This looks absolutely amazing, the animation is almost indistinguishable from the show. I can't wait to play this.
That's some true dedication! Learning how the animation is actually done and then replicating so well. My hat's off to you, great job!
0:29 "Don't Eat Feef."
Those cut scenes! One of the best improvements I've seen in a remaster! Can't believe you nailed it so well
This looks amazing, I'd watch the ENTIRE game if it were cinematicly recreated and remastered in this animation
The man straight up became a Simpsons animator amazing
Im REALLY looking forward to your take on this. I love the renaissance of H&R mods lately, one the first games I ever played as a kid :)
This is incredible. Amazing work!
The models need a little work but this is extremely impressive. You have all the support from all of us! ✊
4:02 animations onwards are RIDICULOUSLY impressive
They look like they were taken straight from the show
Man, I wish you luck with this project, just seeing that animation really says how much dedication you're putting into it. It has it's flaws, but it's still so damn good with the level of effort you're putting in it.
I'm in absolute awe, I cannot believe how well you did with the animation. Absolutely UNBELIEVABLE
The cutscenes are the most exciting part imo. It really worked for the Simpsons Game
The re creation of the cartoon cutsc3nes is seriously impressive, great work man
0:27 FEEF? lol
great work
This is amazing and it’s clear to see just how much effort you’re putting into this. Best of luck with the project!
This is what I call professionalism
The 2D cutscenes looked too perfect that looks like it came from the show. Man, great job!! My congrats!! I would love to experiment this game when it get completed 👏👏👏👏👏
The animation looks so accurate to the show. That's really impressive, man.
THE STYLE IS SSCARRRY GOOD! I know how hard it is to nail the Simpsons artstyle, and this is incredibly commendable. Many of these look like complete screenshots from the show. I truly admire your work!
Edit; THE WALK CYCLE BLEWWW ME AWAY!!!! :O
The decision to have the cutscenes be animated in 2D is really effective, with the backgrounds using rotoscope and the characters being more hand-drawn.
Given the story of Hit & Run feels like an episode of the show, it makes perfect sense if the cutscenes with animation in a similar quality, which shows the love put into it.
I would've love to see some inspiration from their early iteration, to go along with the rest of the redone 2d animation. Like some of the better animations & the extended bits to give the player a bit more context.
Holy moly, you're REDRAWING the cutscenes? That's quite some dedication I'm impressed
Dude you are crazy. You studied the original art style of the show and redrew the cutscenes by hand. WHAT. Your version is much better.
Absolutely blown away by the cutscenes. They look exactly like the show
The effort to preserve every little detail in this remaster mod is insane, the cutscenes look like they're taken right out of an episode of the show.
On a side note, is the "FEEF" on the sign a gag I don't get?
no it's just the way the ai did the resolution upscaling, it happened with the gta remake.
@@adepressedcatwithabadnicot246 I don't think that's what is actually happening, the fonts are different and stylized differently, it also doesn't have any of the artifacts upres'd ai images do. It looks like they did that themselves in photoshop. If it's not an actual mistake, it's probably a nod to the bad GTA upscaling
@@jordanseaward4499 GTA's upresing for text was the same way though. The ai was clearly interpreting and rendering new text from scratch.
Noticed it too but it was still funny
@@Rhodochrone that was literally some of the dudes behind texturing not fully understanding the english language since they were foreign, this isn't some kind of future utopia where AI can even generate text based images AND also upscale an image behind it WHILE getting rid of the background behind it dude, everyone who's been saying that just saddens me if people think it's true (and the fact that the first to ever get this technology would be grove street games like WTF?!)
