      The metal gears with the plastic transmission, can be quite noisy.
      But with the aluminum transmission housing and just the right amount of Grease it is actually very silent.

      I can say that these gears are pretty well made.
      I spent a good portion of my life working on winches of sailing boats, and putting too much grease is never a good thing all you want to do is take away the friction.
      But I will tell you that I had to open up the gearbox again to put more grease as they were very noisy.

      @360woodierc ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JUSTHAVEFUNRC Are they low range gears. If so that would be normal because with low range gears the reduction is so low it’s like using full throttle with the trail gears. Just a little throttle gets those low range gears moving fast.When you go full throttle with tail gears you’ll hear the whine also. A smooth gear noise is fine and that’s normal but if it sounds like ratchety like there’s some dirt in the tranny something is wrong. Maybe miss aligned gears or bad gear molding.

    You could probably install the pinion using a metal bench vice. Gently and slowly press it on, being careful not to damage the capacitors. Only issue I see is how to get it off again if you ever need to maintenance the motor or change gears again. Seems like a once and done scenario.
    Also, I think I'd pool a bit more grease in the bottom of the case, that could continually cycle and freshen the lubrication. But these are not high speed cars, and probably won't have a lot of mileage compared to racers, so maybe it's not needed.

    • @rcfungames
      @rcfungames  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I installed the pinion gear with a pair of pliers and had absolutely no problems, now removing it is definitely not going to be an easy task without pinion remover!
      About the application of the Grease all I can say is I went on two different courses on how to maintain electric and normal winches on sailing boats and I was taught to never put too much grease as all it does is cause restriction.
      If they are going to be running for a long time on the lots of pressure then more grease of course he's going to be beneficial.
      But for the speeds we are running on these little cars a thin layer is more than enough.
      I did recently open it up and put more grease in when I replaced the gearbox housing from plastic to aluminum.
      But still didn't overdo it.

    • @rcfungames
      @rcfungames  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm sorry to hear that I've had a few people tell me now they've been the motor shop trying to install the metal pinion gear.
      I didn't have too much trouble but then I am very used to working on the mechanical stuff as I've been doing it my whole life.
      I use the bent nose pliers to get an even and straight push on the pinion gear to get it on.
      On the back side of the motor I put a small piece of paper between the pliers and place the pliers on the back end of the shaft so I could push it down straight and only apply force directly down on the shaft without pushing the shaft through the motor or bending it.
      If it does not want to go on smoothly take a piece of sandpaper and just send the tip of the motor shaft at tiny bit just to make it slide on a bit easier

    Hi Ryan, on my TRX 4M bronco yesterday I added the injora motor as well as Traxxas metal gears for front and rear Differential, I even put white lithium grease in the gears front and back, as well as the transmission gearbox. But for some reason, I am getting the front wheels that are kind of like the best way I can describe it sputtering any suggestion, and what may be the cause of this? I also have the metal injora Drive shaft.

    • @rcfungames
      @rcfungames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi bro, this could be a bit difficult but I did notice after fitting metal gears and everything that they definitely have a little bit more play between the teeth then the plastic gears.
      But to try and narrow down where the issue is coming from, take the drivelines off from your diffs and check if it's coming from the gearbox, if the gearbox runs smoothly with no sputtering it's further forward.
      Then check the axles by turning them with your fingers and checking if they have a smooth action, if you can feel any tight spots, if you don't notice anything in the gearbox and the axle then it could be the angles from your axle to the gearbox on the driveline that is causing the sputtering.
      So start with the gearbox and remove the drivelines completely and check if it's running nice and smoothly.
      Try these few steps and see if you can figure out exactly where it's coming from then let me know so we can see what we can do. 😉👍

      In my opinion definitely one of the best upgrades for the Traxxas TRX4M is the reduction gear set!
      I'm not using anything specific I am just using high temperature grease that I had lying around from working on my real cars.
      So far it has done a great job on the RC crawlers
      It stays in place and provides the lubrication that is needed and it doesn't have too much viscosity to cause extra load on the system.
      I am using a Lucas high temperature Grease.
      If you're going to be running in water I've also had no problems with this grease mixing with the water and haven't found any water in any of my axles or gearboxes
      So so far I am more than happy with it.
      You could also just run a waterproof grease from Lucas I'm sure that would work perfectly fine too.
      As a person doesn't spend much time with the throttle flat out so there is not really that much heat to worry about!
      Wish you the best of luck with your build, anything I can help with just let me know 👊😉

    I have the lower gears to put in but they are plastic so this might be a dumb question but do I not need grease since they are plastic

    • @rcfungames
      @rcfungames  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion I don't think they require Grease! They run smoothly and quietly without any Grease.
      And in my opinion it gives it more of a reason to fail!
      But this is my opinion many other people believe thoroughly in packing them with Grease.

    What name is grease bro😅

      Hi bro,
      This is high temperature graphite Grease, the brand I am using is Castrol
      You can also use a waterproof Lucas or any other brand Grease.
      I use this grease because I do lots of work on normal cars and I've got it lying around!

    Honestly cannot for the life of me get the pinion gear on, and if i do I'm afraid the motor will be munted. Can't figure out if poorly designed or poorly machined.

    • @rcfungames
      @rcfungames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bro it was difficult to push the pinion gear on, trying use a bent nose pliers that can go from the back of the motor right over the front, so that you keep the pressure on the shaft and not push the shaft into the motor.
      It definitely wasn't easy for me to get it on.
      Let me know how it goes 🤞🤞

      @@rcfungames I've tried that, I've tried multigrips, vice grips and nothing's worked. I'm off to a workshop this morning to use their bench vice!! I'll let you know what happens...

      @@rcfungamesso this is just terrible design/machining. I got it on using a vice, which has pushed the shaft out the back of the motor another 1-2mm. I'm pretty unimpressed, and think Injora should pay for a new motor. Maybe that's their evil plan? Trash the stock motor and replace it with one of theirs...

      @@lsear2905 bro that's not good, I definitely struggled to get mine on.
      I'm going to be doing the metal gears on the defender soon I will make a very in detailed video how I fitted the pinion gear.
      I'm sorry I couldn't help you anymore.
      The motor will no longer be good if the shaft moved, and now you going to have the trouble that you can't remove the pinon gear.

      I didn't film me putting the pinion gear on as it was very difficult to get on!! Many people have bent the motor shaft trying to get it on!
      I managed to do it but it was very difficult.
      It's easier to buy the motor with the pinion gear already on it

      I thought the same thing but once I put a little bit more grease than I normally do and after running it a few times it no longer makes that noise.
      But of course plastic gears will always be quieter.

    I destroyed my motor trying to push the small gear in. Just to try if i was at fault, i even tried to hit with a hammer and a metal plate and the gear isn't going all the way in, it's perfectly aligned even when spinning but it won't go in. Injora parts are total disgrace, shitty tolerace and poor quality. Never going to buy from them again

      I get it bro I understand the situation I've had a few things of this which weren't precisely made!!
      I have only fitted one of their metal pinion gears on a stock Traxxas motor! And it was extremely difficult to get it on.
      But with a bent nose pliers I managed to support the back of the engine shaft at the same time as pushing the pinion gear on!!
      I did send the motor shaft just a little with some sandpaper for it to go on a bit easier!
      But I do think it's easier to order one of their motors with the metal pinion gear already fitted.
      I'm sorry you feel that way about their products as so far I am quite happy with the quality for the price.
