    Clear, simple, good tips, and short. Why can't all DIY videos be like this? Thanks!

    I've watched a few of these videos on how to replace aluminum screening and this one is definitely the best!

    Thanks to you, I'm seeing a glimmer of hope now. Yesterday, I attempted to replace a 6' long fiberglass screen with new aluminum in a customer's wooden screen door. Since I didn't notch the corners, and started on a short side, and had too much screening hanging over the edge, I quickly ripped the new screen while forcing it into the channel soon after starting one of the long sides. So I then bought another roll, and made the same mistakes again. However, this time I didn't rip any of the screening and got the spline installed all the way around. But while trimming the excess, I soon discovered that I had a darned bubble that I fought with for about 15 minutes before I gave up on it and walked away in despair.
    So I'm now going to buy a third roll of aluminum screening, go back to the customer's home and do everything you showed me in this great video. None of the other videos showed me what or why I was doing the replacement wrongly, and so I want to thank you for sharing your invaluable tips and giving me hope for finally conquering the screen door from hell. Things are now looking up over here in White Lake. Thanks!

    You sir are awesome, I tried 3 other videos that showed other ways to install the screen and none of the worked as I ended up with the figure 8 you mentioned. Your tutorial was perfect and gave me straight lines on the frames. Thank you soooooooo much!!

    Just watched 20 d.i.y window screen videos and yours was by far the best. Im a pro screener myself and was just passing time watching screen videos. And it was funny to eatch all these video of people claiming to be pros rolling these windows or panels with bubbles and ripples. Half of them are using tape to hold the screen or using the wrong spline. Its hilarious.
    But yoirs by far is the most professional. You knew what you were talking about and you trimmed in a few seconds unlike these other guys trimming like they were scared they were going to cut their wrist. I can tell youve been screening a while.

    Pre-rolling without the spline...I'd never done that before. But then all I've ever used is fiberglass. Now, rats have entered the picture, and I'm replacing with 304SST mesh, and...it's a minor nightmare. Is there a utility blade that will cut it after splining? If not, what to do?

      @MrHardware1  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Some screen rollers actually cut the screen about a quarter inch wider than the groove so that when they roll the material in it ends up flush in the frame. It does take some skill and practice to achieve us, but I’ve worked with some people that roll this way.

    When I am rolling in the spline roller the aluminium net gets cut, is that normal?

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Johnny Lee, when you roll the spline you can use the concave roller (if your tool has 2 types of wheels) to better grab the spline. However if you let the sharp edge of the roller hit the inside aluminum frame it will cut the screen. Keep the roller on the outside edge of the spline or use the round roller to roll in the spline.

    I am trying to install aluminum screen and having a heck of a time. I try to get the screen in the groove and when I place the spline and roll it in the screen breaks. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  ปีที่แล้ว

      If the screen roller hits the screen at the leading edge of the rail it can cut the material. I try to run my roller on the outside edge of the grove away from the screen so if I cut it, it’s away from the opening

    Is the installation of stainless mesh the same procedure?

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It depends on the gauge of the mesh that you’re trying to roll in. If it say 18 gauge or finer, it should be no problem.

    How much would u charge me for 7 alum. frames with screens on at W x H at 29 1/2" x 25 1/2" and thickness at usual as others. Any color would be great with springs on top and tabs on bottom. I measured old alum. frame from outside to outside. Please let me know, thanks for the video.

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      about $35 a frame, but shipping would double that. Where are you from?
      and for faster reply email to staff@mrhardware.com

      Thanks for your reply Blair but I already got them. I bought 7 of them for 132 dollars for seven of them including shipping. I didn't know they were so expensive. I went to Home D. and yes, 35 dllrs per frame was the amt. they came up with. Luckily they were alot cheaper on Ebay. Keep up the good work and thanks for the video.

    What sort of dollar store aluminium is that? My box cutter won't even dent mine, which is why I came to Yt for tips?

    • @MrHardware1
      @MrHardware1  ปีที่แล้ว

      New York Wire Company, grade ‘A’ metal screening. Don’t buy dollar store utility blades. Stanley or Lenox are good brands.

    There is nothing about the clips that need to go into the frame with the screen material….useless info
