Fiur definitely got the biggest glow-up. From a blue-tinged 'just fuck my shit up fam' to Handsome Squidward joining the Blue Man Group after going to the electric disco.
I never liked them all being just low poly 3d models with no background. Nice to see them getting details and painting style more in line with the rest of the portraits.
Ignissa- Original Ignissa: "BURN, BABY! BURN!" 😈Remastered Ignissa: "AAH! I'M BURNING!" 😲 Kalt- He looks like a weird-looking fish in the original and a sea monster in the remastered version. Erdamon- Definitely an improvement over the original. Monere- I like the aura surrounding Monere in the remaster, but it looks like he's hiding behind a mask. Thunar- She looks like she's made of rocks instead of dirt. Fiur- He embodies the galaxy brain meme. Lacus- Similar to Kalt, Lacus looks weird in the original and scary in the remastered version. Pasis- Similar Monere, she looks like she's wearing a mask.
Ignissa is one of my favorite heroes, which I often take when I play Conflux or as one of the leaders of a huge army in the WoG version. She looks very beautiful here Kelt and Lacus. It’s a particularly pleasant experience to see updated portraits based on them! Look at the wonderful detail! Kelt has ice growths, deep eyes glowing with a cold blue color, and his whole body is made of ice crystals, from which beautiful reflections of water come. This is simply top class. Lacus fits the description of a water elemental with an amphibious outline. This is pretty much how I imagined water elementals in the game. They are either more human or more than amphibious. There are no words for how well done! Erdamon is more than a little like a magma elemental. And I like the spikes on his head. Better than the original! Paris and Monere very cool)
The AI upscaling hits maybe 10% of the time... Just take Erdamon, he looked like constantly melting slag and rock but the AI made him look like a fire wearing stone skin with spikes. Monere was taken from a thing draped in constant unnatural shadow wearing an ornate helmet, a chainmail hood, and a red cloak. Now he looks like someone who's cosplaying it and didn't understand the assignment, and added LEDs to the helmet and made the chainmail into grey cloth because they couldn't afford the real thing. And they changed Thunar from a collection of rocks and dirt forming a distinctly humanoid face, to a stack of rocks kind of imitating the original... but not quite. Fiur just looks like he's about 20 years younger and became more androgenous. What did they do to you Lacus?! You had such a derpy face, and they gave you teeth for no reason, they removed your gills, they took away your distinctive blue eyes and made them anime... Oh my sweet Lacus, may you not roll out of your grave because of this horror they've made you into. Pasis... oh Pasis... again dose thou look like cosplay, where your protective chainmail has turned into a plasticky cloth. Also, Ignissa's mouth is important to get right... and it was fucked up too.
Ignissa originally looked like she is REALLY enjoying the flames, but the in remaster, less so. It is the tension in her mouth I think. Aside from Ignissa, the original portraits from Armageddon's Blade didn't give you much to work with.
Kalt looks so cool! fitting for an ice elemental. Fiur looks good. Thunar though, what a downgrade. and oh, my, God, Lacus. the contrast between the cute eyes and terrifying mouth is absolutely sending me xD
After the final battle of Masters of the Elements, Tarnum had the Psychic elementals destroy the Confluxes and wipe the memories of how to build the gates that will let one travel to the Elemental Planes. Genies remain natives of the Elemental Plane of Air, as are Efreet natives of the Plane of Fire. But aside from the elements' specific Summoning spells, no mortal will ever again hold the title of Master of All Elements. You thought Mutare and Sandro were bad? Imagine if they got a foothold on the Plane of Magic.

Tbh, all the Cornflux portraits are so shitty compared to the original artstyle, any improvisation and improvement is better. I like Monere and Pasis having a face now, despite of them in canon being exhibitionists of pure darkness. Having said that, i understand some dissatisfaction people may have with that interpretation.
У Игниссы другая форма лица, ромб, а не треугольник. При открытом рте не видно нижних зубов. У Кальта от уголков губ на "щеках" - жабры. На шее что то вроде рыбьего брюшного киля. Плавник на голове похож на "тонкий" гребень, а не на какой то твёрдый нарост. Плавники-уши вообще не то, и зубов у него нет, но есть ярко выраженные губы. Эрдамон в оригинале выглядит так, как будто он состоит из магмы/лавы. В ремастере же он как будто камни/скала, по которой эта магма/лава стекает...Еще и эти острые камни на голове... Эрдамон, что они сделали с тобой, мой мальчик? =( Хотя это я еще Тунар не видел - в оригинале она НЕ состоит из груды камней, а как будто высечена из гранита. У Монера нет подбородка. У Лакус почему то тоже жабры убрали. Зато вставили зубы... Странно, почему Монеру и Пасис зубы не дорисовали, подбородок же есть. Был бы прям как тот мем "хе хе хе".
I love how the AI gave Pasis the facial proportions of an anime girl. It clearly had no idea what to do with her and Monere.
