I feel broken here doesn’t mean bug, I think he means it breaks the game. Makes bosses that would be a challenge easy, makes leveling a breeze, basically makes the game pointless from here on out sort of broken.
It’s a bug, because Aeternus is using the “Never Ending” Legendary effect, which is supposed to remove the need to reload, however with the Laser Gatling, it’s unable to discern how to do this since there’s no individual ammunition for it, giving it an infinite amount of shots.
In the far harbor DLC you can get a flamethrower somewhere called Sergeant ash. Its ability is that it will cripple enemys. What makes it so broken it's the fact that even though this percentage is really low, it's a flamethrower. It's practically constantly shooting. If you have the ammo you can pretty much cripple every boss and instantly win. I saw a guy absolutely annihilate some 100 ghouls because he pretty much bound them to a wheelchair. He did the same thing with giant super mutants.
There's also a named ripper with the stagger legendary effect on far harbour at echo lake lumber which does a similar thing and just stun locks enemies in place but I've forgotten it's name
I got that effect on a 10mm Pistol right at the start of the game. Since it's % chance to cripple on hit, I obviously made it auto. I had to shelve that gun because it completely trivialized even the hardest encounters. One Vats burst each to the legs of a Deathclaw? Incapacitated. Go ham on it. That effect is so ridiculously busted.
When you can stagger and cripple literally any enemy every other second, yeah, its wild. The only second to it is a tommy explosive cause it shoots so fast.
It's beautiful isn't it. Neat part about it is that is the damage increases with the normal weapon damage perks, and the explosions deal increased damage with the grenade damage perk. So your pretty much walking around with a grenade launcher that can shoot multiple projectiles on full auto if you feel like it 👍
Maxon’s Gatling Laser with charging barrels is literally broken. Instead of slowing down the fire rate it doubles it and you get a massive damage bonus on top.
There's actually a catch that many people don't catch up on. Your fusions cores deplete down to 10%, every single one of them if you don't check up on them. But the cores never deplete past that so you do technically have infinite ammo, but bad for Powr Armor. Would recommend holding only 1 fusion core while maining this weapon because of this but besides that it's one of the best weapons in the game
Not sure if it was patched but there used to be a bug where only having one fusion core while using this gun would make the core instantly deplete to 0, so the minimum is 2 cores.
Pretty sure it only does this if you swap weapons, which automatically "reloads" the gun to a fresher core. If you keep it equipped it shouldn't be an issue I believe
You can still keep a ton on you and use it towards your advantage. If you have a ton (sell water) and use power armor there's a perk where depleted fusion cores will blow up for you. Also at 10% (more than 1%) a fusion core will sell for the same price.
One thing to note: I used this as my main weapon in a heavy/power armor playtrough, I had like 20+ sets of PA, like 70 fusion cores, but this gun took a fusion core EVERY time I pulled it out, and depleted it to a random %< frpm about 10-99% left. This meant I had a stack of about 38 full cores and then all the rest in seperate stacks, do not use power armor with this and only bring 1 core... For your inventory sake and also to save em
It’s also broken coding wise, as it will fire off an entire core in one shot, use another, and when that one is half empty or the gun is put away, it will switch to a new full core instead of still using the currently inserted one. This thing genuinely sucks.

I found a never ending double barrel shotgun and had a shit ton of shotgun shells because I never used one, i went to diamond city and saved. Lets say i had “fun”
Shotgun with bleed procs the bleed per bullet, causing combat shotguns to melt any enemy I’ve ever come across. Its very nice, Ive found two across my playthroughs.
I don't think it matters, as fallout 4 has mod support and I can just port something like this into the game, except that it would be a six shooter that full auto fires mininukes that play the sound "damn son, where'd you find this" on impact.
Technically it is broken, because of how it used Fusion Cores. It always uses a bit of ammo to begin with, just to get started. You put the weapon away and pull it out again, suddenly you’re using a completely different core. Combine both of those together, and you end up with an ammo page that’s taken up by 30 different Fusion Cores of varying power levels, none of which are full.
I hated that so I just removed half my cores and put them in a power armor station for when I need to use my Power armor🤷♂️ the Cores in inventory are my ammo for it

unlimited ammo capacity and unlimited ammo are two very different things, one has you never reloading again, whilst the latter simply gives you unlimited ammunition.
The most OP weapon I made myself that wasnt too broken was the overseers guardian (shoots 2 bullets at once creating what is essentially double damage, or a long range low spread shotgun if hip fired) chambered in .32, pipe pistol caliber! And it was pretty good, not broken like that, but it was just enough for me to say it was powerful for being the cheapest ammo in the game

The legendary affix is just supposed to be a bottomless mag, removing the need to reload but retaining ammo consumption. The way the laser gatling works however breaks the effect and causes it to have truly infinite ammo
However there is a down side when you use that your fusion cores still drain down to low but then it stops leaving you with all your fusion cores low and making it annoying to use power armor
You can get it without Nuka World. You get it from killing the Elder of the Brotherhood when you side with the Institute to destroy the Brotherhood Airship
The hardest part is actually getting the gun. Everytime i try to get it from maxon he either dissappears before i can get to his body, he is killed in an unreachable area, his body flings into the sun before i can get to him, or the institute blows up the airport before i can kill him
I got a Wounding Minigun drop from a Legendary Raider one time. The Wounding Effect causes bleeding damage *per hit* and since the minigun fires so fast, and because bleeding damage stacks, I could walk up to a Mirelurk Queen, shoot it for a few seconds with the minigun, and then stand back and watch it's health bar just plummet due to the stacked bleeding damage. It was *great* for fighting a bunch of ghouls since I could just keep spraying bullets left to right. I didn't have to land a ton of hits on each ghoul since it each hit did the extra bleeding damage, which would take down their health bars at the same time that I am backing away from them to create some distance. They would be slowly dying while chasing after me. Also, any automatic weapon with the Furious effect is hella powerful too. Furious causes each consecutive hit on the same target to increase in damage. Firing an automatic weapon with that affect causes the damage to increase exponentially. I took out that Mirelurk Queen that you fight during that rite of passage quest in Far Harbor with a Furious Handmade Rifle in just a few a seconds. My favorite though? A Wounding Ripper with the mod that also does bleeding damage, so you have two sources of extra bleeding damage on a weapon that has a *very* fast hit rate. Put a few points into the melee damage perk, and it becomes the most melee weapon in the game. Also great for fighting a horde of ghouls.
i just yesterday got my hands on this finally, and i can say its very fun. also, when crouched and in third person the fire rate shoots up, and as long as you keep firing when you un-crouch there’ll still be the faster fire rate. use the charging barrels for the significant damage increase, as well as heavy gunner, and you got a melter

If you go into third person and spam L2 or LT with charging barrels it goes as fast as normal. And I’m pretty sure crouching has the same effect in third person.

As Todd tells us "it's not a big. It's a feature". Nuka world is aimed at higher levels or a new playthrough so it's just a nice little thing to have once you're familiar with the game.
I found a great mod for grinding legendaries. It’s just ‘turn all npcs legendary’ where everyone good or bad is legendary. Sure like 20% of the time they still don’t have a legendary weapon, but it helps with the grind and it makes combat way more fun since everyone has more health (including you)
Another cheeky thing you can do with Gatling lasers is use it in 3rd person and rapidly zoom and un-zoom while shooting. It (in my experience) makes it fire in rapid bursts on-top of the regular rounds. Allowing you to do massively increased damage to targets by literally shooting them faster.
I currently have the Spray and Pray Thompson on my current playthrough.. it’s an awesome weapon does explosive damage and it absolutely rips enemies apart
There is a funny little glitch with this one that seems to trigger at random when you use it while wearing power armour. It sometimes uses all your fusion cores instead of non at all. Bethesda never changes.
That actually makes Sense as a Power core fills the Times a gattling laser can shot completly Up meaning that If the aeternus has Infinite ammo/Times to shoot than the Power core will Last forever
From what I remember - I don’t use this weapon anymore but I used to - it would switch out fusion cores so if you have a bunch of 100%’s, using the weapon will create a bunch of 99%’s that went down one percent due to the legendary effect of the weapon. Not sure if this is still the case but I’ve steered clear of it

I once got a bleed shotgun also overpowered as bleed stack so their healt bar just melt away.
Gatling lasers with charging barrels were already broken to begin with, but this takes it to a whole new level.

Charging barrel is bugged and when you give gatling lasers to NPC's they'll still shoot at normal RoF instead of the reduced for massive DPS.
Putting the fast fire on this gun gives you the ultimate Clone Arc trooper experience.

I found a fatman that launched 2 shots for 1. 2 mininukes is strong, but outting the merv upgrade makes you fire 16 mininukes for 1 is much stronger.

Elder maxsons laser mini gun absolutely destroys in a matter of seconds. Death claw, mirelurk queen, etc.

I love the 50% cripple pipe weapons for 38 ammo. Auto it with a huge mag and makes any very hard/survival run a breeze

If you go into third person and spam L2 or LT with charging barrels it goes as fast as normal. And I’m pretty sure crouching has the same effect in third person.
Tbh i can confirm that i got this and it made any other weapon i ever got or could get irrelevant, its just that good tbh.

You should try out Lorenzo's Artifact on a Neverending Gamma Gun. It's essentially an automatic grenade launcher. Pain to get legitimately though

As Todd tells us "it's not a big. It's a feature". Nuka world is aimed at higher levels or a new playthrough so it's just a nice little thing to have once you're familiar with the game.
If I ever leave the build mode of settlements I might try this.

Gatling Laser with stun on every shot, probably the most devastating weapon I ever had.
I found a great mod for grinding legendaries. It’s just ‘turn all npcs legendary’ where everyone good or bad is legendary. Sure like 20% of the time they still don’t have a legendary weapon, but it helps with the grind and it makes combat way more fun since everyone has more health (including you)

Another cheeky thing you can do with Gatling lasers is use it in 3rd person and rapidly zoom and un-zoom while shooting. It (in my experience) makes it fire in rapid bursts on-top of the regular rounds. Allowing you to do massively increased damage to targets by literally shooting them faster.
Problem is sometimes it switch's to a different fusion core using other full fusion cores leaving u with some half empty when u put it in power armor
I currently have the Spray and Pray Thompson on my current playthrough.. it’s an awesome weapon does explosive damage and it absolutely rips enemies apart
Pro tip, if you use this only hold TWO cores. Or else it’ll mess up all of your cores

There is a funny little glitch with this one that seems to trigger at random when you use it while wearing power armour. It sometimes uses all your fusion cores instead of non at all. Bethesda never changes.
That actually makes Sense as a Power core fills the Times a gattling laser can shot completly Up meaning that If the aeternus has Infinite ammo/Times to shoot than the Power core will Last forever
From what I remember - I don’t use this weapon anymore but I used to - it would switch out fusion cores so if you have a bunch of 100%’s, using the weapon will create a bunch of 99%’s that went down one percent due to the legendary effect of the weapon. Not sure if this is still the case but I’ve steered clear of it
It also has a habit of breaking and using the entire core to shoot one shot.
Finally I can use a Gatling laser with power armor and not worry about being a fucking tortoise at the end of a firefight
