This is hands down one of the most satisfying video series I’ve seen in a long time! 👏🏻💪🏼👍 Would LOVE to see videos of the sale process in the future. 🤞🏼
That would be more of something I’d probably put on my other channel Mid-Century Wasted where I actually sell the vintage things, but maybe I can talk a bit about the sales process while I’m cleaning out and organizing my office. Thanks for the idea!
I never comment I just lurk in the background but bloody hell Jamie this series is brilliant. So satisfying and motivating. And all your lovely vintage stuff. See you tomorrow. I’m so invested 😂 🇬🇧
At first I was sad you were doing the credenza - I so want you to tackle the visible spaces in your home. But wow, what a great declutter! And moving the candles into the top drawer was a great choice 😊
Thank you! It’s definitely harder for me to want to prioritize the hidden spaces too, especially when there are still boxes sitting out! But I know that once the insides of these cabinets are more empty, I’ll have room to put some of the things that are sitting out. A lot of the reason so much stuff hasn’t been getting put “away” is because there is no room in the “away” to put them 🤣 This one felt great and even though no one can see the clutter behind closed doors, I know it’s there and it still stresses me out! 😆 it’s a big sense of relief for me knowing there’s some emptiness in these cupboards!
I love the vases, teacups and vintage linens! This would be a difficult linen declutter for me. I love seeing all of your vintage things around your house and I’m really loving this declutter series!!! You’re doing awesome! 👏🏼 I hope you get better soon!
I'm sorry you're not better. I love your display of the swung vases. I must confess that I was thinking what a pain it'd be to remove them to dust the cabinet. I hate to dust, lol. Way to go, Brody. Embracing the decluttering! My grandson packs some of his play food in his backpack whenever he leaves the house. So funny! You did a terrific job sorting through your vintage linens. I really need to do that myself. You're very disciplined to keep going even though you're I'll. Take care, Linda 🦋
It is SUCH a pain to dust! Once a year I give them all baths, too because they get so dusty inside. It’s a labor of love, though. It makes me so happy every time I see that rainbow of glass. That’s so cute your grandson packs his playfood with him 😆 adorable!!
@Jamie_Chaotic I know what you mean about the upkeep of things you love. We just inherited my mother-in-law's silver. My 93-year-old sister-in-law has moved in with us, and she insisted on giving us the silver now. It needs polishing, but my heart jumped when I placed the pieces in the silverware chest. It's funny how we react to things we truly cherish.
deadpan "...unfortunately they're divorced now", made tea come out of my nose. Credenza - not a word often heard; going to see if I can work it into the convo at tomorrow's Ladies-Who-Move Christmas lunch. Thanks Jamie!
Haha I almost edited that bit out because it came out so insensitively and matter of fact but I did think it was also pretty funny (even though I didn’t mean for it to be) 🤣
I absolutely love this series! You did so well with the linens, donating and separating those for sale. I find it hard getting rid of any of my vintage (mostly 1930s) linens. One day, I will be as strong as you!
I decluttered 2 linen cabinets and I am getting rid of 3 garbage bags. I still have half a box of legos and some baby blankets and baby items. I have my husband take the donations. I am already thinking about an antique marble top that has stuff that I never use. It will be alot of sentimental decoration items. I am loving your videos ❤
Same. The only homemade cake we had was when my daughter made one a few months ago. She's 28 and has recently become interested in cooking and baking so we get to enjoy her efforts!
I'm not either, so I gave supplies to both my girls. They do decorate cakes for special occasions and when they have time. I won the space they won the supplies.
The game of roulette is such a great way to get things done! I’m now using it to make progress on my multitude of half-completed projects around my house. Yes, we can do *one* thing per day!😊
Speaking of empty drawers.... I did some decluttering a few months ago and created an empty drawer in my bedroom dresser. I have a few things in there now but it's still mostly empty. Extra space that I don't immediately fill up? What a concept!
Sure! I’ll make a note to add that to my videos, it’s definitely a good idea. For now, you can access it through my other channel Mid-Century Wasted. I have it linked in all my videos over there 😊
You could bag and donate the candles ir put on free page. We melt down candles and candle bits to make fire starters in cardboard egg cartons. My hubs is a woodworker by hobby and makes plenty of wood shavings.
If I’m correct that you have a wood burning fireplace like I do,save all of your half burned and wonky candles for FANTASTIC fire starters! My sister even gives me all of hers!🙌🏻
I change out my tablecloths. But I put the tablecloths on 1st then pplacemats, cover it with a clear plastic tablecloth. I don't use holiday decor, just season decor instead. Your tablecloths will last longer.
I love those vases. My mom and my Aunt had them. I would love to have taken them but not sure who took them. I love them. I would purchase some but I have been on a decluttering journey and have been just saying NO to antique shops. It’s been hard but not have as many things to dust or move to dust has been making my life easier
Wow, your colorful collection of glas are objects is amazing!! I envy you, they are really beautiful. Wow! If the flaps annoy you on these boxes you can fold them inside, makes he box more stable too. And please put (at least) one lighter and a box of matches with the candles 😃 Maybe also a flashlight? Than this can be your emergency drawer? „Hang the curtains“ is definitely for your husbands fishbowl! Are you collecting tasks already? 😂 And are you getting tired of all my hack suggestions by now? If so, I’m sorry. (Did not get to declutter my camera stuff by the ways, so the dog still loves me)
I ended up just throwing that box away! Once I moved the candles to the drawer that got pitched to the trash. I have matches in the kitchen that I know don’t belong there, once I eventually move on to that room I’ll put the matches with the candles. But you’re right, I do need a whole emergency “kit” because the stuff we have is all over the place, mostly in the garage, and not easy to find. It’s going on the list!
Umm I recommend taking those tapered candles out and putting them on wax paper or paper towels. Just in case they might melt or leave candle was on your drawer bottom.
About twenty five years ago,a friend gave me a ton of stuff to sell in my yard sale .(Her mom had passed and she was just going to leave it on the curb.) Having grown up in the sixties and seventies, MCM is just not my vibe.(Been there ,done that) I ended up making over $800.00,but probably could have made more. I was selling a large vase just like one of yours which held zero value to me. So a young couple brings it to me and says, “So…….you have 25 dollars on this?……” so I jumped in and laughed and said, “Heavens NO! 25 cents!” They looked at each other, grabbed a quarter to give me and skipped away! Now I’m wondering if they were trying to talk me down to 20 dollars?😳 Oh well,I made a young couple’s day! (I’ve had my own super garage sale finds myself: large Coach bag for $5.00 and about $300.00 worth of my DANSK dish pattern for $2.00 for the entire box.)What goes around, comes around!🤭
Dang 25$ would have been a steal! 😂 but I totally get it, I sell stuff that I don’t personally value for really cheap too, even if I know it’s worth more. I just want it gone and it makes someone else’s day! And totally the good karma comes back to you!
@ This just reminded me of a garage sale I had about two years ago. I had a “Flow Blue” dinner plate in excellent condition with a $25 sticker. A lady tried to hand me a quarter for it and when I said, “ No,it’s twenty five dollars”, she shrugged and pulled out a twenty and a five! (I guess she was trying for the deal of a lifetime.)😵💫
My name is Britney I am a foster mom do you have any advice on decluttering the bed room my kids are 5 and 7 i hate their bunk bed 😂😂❤they have a small shade bed room
First of all, thank you for being a foster mom! That is a beautiful thing. I’m certainly no expert, but I can share what I’ve done that has helped. Mine are 6 and 8 so we’re right in that same age range with you. My kids also share a room and it can be very overwhelming in there! I think the best choice I’ve made is keeping the toys out of their room. Plushies are the only thing in there besides furniture and clothes, and even now they have gotten out of hand. But things like toys, books, legos, blocks, etc… the things with all the tiny pieces… if you can store them anywhere other than the bedroom, that has helped immensely. We use that walk in storage closet under our stairs. It gets messy in there for sure, but it’s also nicely hidden. Once all the toys are out, if you’re able to find another place for them, then the issue really just becomes keeping up with laundry and clothes. Cutting down on the number of clothes helps, even putting away seasonal clothes into a storage bin if you have big changes in weather. (We don’t where we live, but I’ve heard other moms say this helps them a lot). Also just remember if and when you do get rid of stuff, that is helping the kids not hurting them. A clean, clutter free, open space is much more calming and comforting to a kid than one that is overstimulating filled with toys and clothes. As parents it can be hard to let go of things because we don’t want to feel like we’re being neglectful or that our kids will be missing out on something. I never want my kids to feel scarcity. But too much is far worse for them, especially if you have any kids with neurodivergence like mine does with ADHD. That’s been a huge motivation for me to declutter the whole house - knowing how the visual clutter, disorganization, and lack of storage causes him to feel upset and overwhelmed. It’s also prevented him from managing his own chores, because everything seems sooo much harder for him when the house is a mess. The less stuff we have everywhere, especially in his room, I’ve noticed a big change in the way he manages his own chores. I’m getting lots of fewer meltdowns or fight back. Hopefully this helps!
When you tell the kids to clean their room do they shove things under their beds lol do you recommend tipping the kids mattresses or pulling them off to check under the beds or clean 🤔 😂 🙄 can you make a video of cleaning under your kids beds me Britney
@@joehebert8070 oh my gosh this is actually really funny because the boys are getting new beds for Christmas (shhh don’t tell them lol) and it will be the first time their beds are up off the floor! Up until this point they have had a box spring directly on the floor with their mattress on top… specifically so there is NOT an under the bed! But now they’ll have real bed frames and their beds will have an “under” so we’ll see how it goes! I’m sure I’ll have to set the expectation that when they clean their room, shoving things under the bed isn’t a solution and I’ll warn them that I’ll be checking under there when they’re done 😂😂
I absolutely love your display of all your beautiful colorful vases. Don’t change that ever.
Thank you so much! I just broke one recently and it hurt… bad!
@ awe that’s is so sad.

Haha thank you so much!! 😆
Your cabinet turned out great! Of course I love your colored glass collection on top❣️
Add “hang curtains” to the glass bowl
Haha yes! When I do the entire kitchen I think I’m going to use the fishbowl. Each cupboard could be a ticket. The curtains too!
At first I was sad you were doing the credenza - I so want you to tackle the visible spaces in your home. But wow, what a great declutter! And moving the candles into the top drawer was a great choice 😊

@ that makes so much sense. We need to make space to be able to put things away. Thank you so much for this series!
Beautiful MCM cabinet & colorful swing glass vase collection ❤ You did an amazing job✨️🩵
Looks so much better. I was hoping u would keep just the best candles, and ultimately you did!
Thanks! Putting them in the drawer instead of just a bigger box was definitely the right move!
I love the vases, teacups and vintage linens! This would be a difficult linen declutter for me. I love seeing all of your vintage things around your house and I’m really loving this declutter series!!! You’re doing awesome! 👏🏼 I hope you get better soon!

Awesome! Your swing glass vase collection & your Pyrex collection are both beautiful!!!

Thank you so much!!😊
Epic MCM collection and cabinet ❤
Your coloured glass collection 😍
An empty drawer is great. “I got rid of a lot, a good amount, some” 😂 true words.
I kept downgrading as I looked at how much I was keeping 😆
deadpan "...unfortunately they're divorced now", made tea come out of my nose. Credenza - not a word often heard; going to see if I can work it into the convo at tomorrow's Ladies-Who-Move Christmas lunch. Thanks Jamie!

Made me laugh too.

I’m in a very “sell sell sell” motivated mindset right now! I’m definitely not always this way 😆 I go through phases for sure.
That rainbow display is so pretty! The stuff you did keep is now accessible & easy to see.
I’ve been meaning to tell you how much I love the swung vases! The colors are so satisfying!!
I decluttered 2 linen cabinets and I am getting rid of 3 garbage bags. I still have half a box of legos and some baby blankets and baby items. I have my husband take the donations. Great job! 👏🏼
Wow great job!
Get it girl!!!
I'm not the cake decorating mom either! I'm a grocery store cake kind of mom. And my kids get so excited for that, they aren't missing out.
I agree! Cake is cake and if it tastes good that’s what matters 😂

❤🎉 nice work
I’m here for Maxwell sightings. 🤩🐈⬛🖤
He’s always interested in what I’m up to 😆
Yeah so cute!
I too love and save vintage crocheted items. I think you paired it down a lot, well done.
This is such an enjoyable video! Huge decluttering and you found treasures to use. 😀
Beautiful vase collection! You also did an outstanding job on decluttering the cabinet!
“Unfortunately theyre divorced now” such a quick and offhand comment i LOLed
I know, it was so bad the way I said it, I almost edited that out but ended up being kinda funny and dry humor so I thought I’d just leave it 🤣
The game of roulette is such a great way to get things done! I’m now using it to make progress on my multitude of half-completed projects around my house. Yes, we can do *one* thing per day!😊
Yes!!!
6:47 Go Brody🎉 & ❤I get in momma😊
I am in love with your MCM furniture!
you can put clear plastic over your table cloths... kids can go wild with nice cloths underneath
The curtains are amazing. Can’t wait to see them up.
Hopefully they make me like my dreadful kitchen more!
👍💪
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Absolutely love this series I'm glad I subscribed when I did❤❤

I know 😭 ugh why do they have to get old?!

The dusting is definitely the downside!
Brody is 💯 he’s a little man and someone else will enjoy them. He is Lego age. Plastic food is for babies. Love that he was like Mom No. haha
Yep he loves Lego and video games with his brother. He’s just too dang old 😆

Your tree looks beautiful
Thank you!
Umm I recommend taking those tapered candles out and putting them on wax paper or paper towels. Just in case they might melt or leave candle was on your drawer bottom.
Yeah I’m going to put them in something for sure
I would put the other candles in a bag. They'll melt on your nice wood
Yeah that’s a good point
When my kids were younger I would use old table clothes and buy a plastic clear one put on Top so No stains just wipe off food. Just a thought...
I didn’t even know clear plastic ones existed 😂
@@Jamie_Chaotic It was probably a shower curtain, I would also cover my chair seats fabric too.
You can cut the curtain to the size u want.
