I was evicted from my home after 25 years. While decluttering to downsize went through my box of personal mementos. One thing I found was an envelope with a lock if hair of a friend of 50 years. He had passed away the year before and was bald. I asked his wife if she wanted and her and the kids loved seeing his lock if hair from when young.
good to see you back & at least you got a big job done with the taxes & started for this year already. I started decluttering to downsize & move since we are retired now its been 2 years still at it lol. But have gotten rid of so much more to go. I went through every closet & drawer once & we hired a dumpster for the 100 pieces of random garage wood & other junk lol But my thinking is changing & more things have homes now & I won't want to do this as I get even older lol Progress for you is happening. I wake up & think thank god I started.
I’m definitely thankful that I started now and didn’t wait until something dire happened or it was more difficult on my body. No time like the present! Great job on your decluttering progress as well!! It isn’t always easy but so worth it.
Stephen King books may not look so pretty, but they are amazing reads! I also have a large collection of hardcover Kings! Love to see another collector :)
One thing I do to cut down on visual book clutter is to place books on the top and bottom shelves only then just have more sparse decor items on the middle shelves where the eye is drawn to, it’s a visual trick I find works pretty well.
Congrats on getting a new bed! Your bedroom and hall look great. Love the art in the hall! I'm a reader and have spent many hours in my life rearranging books and yes it's hard work. Very tiring. Currently I have 4 heavy boxes full of books that I need to take to Goodwill. Soon! It was great seeing you. Have a fantastic week!

@@Jamie_Chaotic hang in there momma. I remember very well how I felt as a mom of young children and a husband. Tired most of the time and I felt so stressed out. Try to take time for yourself and tell the hubster he’s on duty. So you can go take a shower or destress.
I hang my husband’s mask the same way. I added a command hook to the flat top of the bed frame so it doesn’t slide off anymore and he can hang it in the dark with ease. 🥰

Another decluttering channel, Simply Libby, is a now single mom trying to have her 9 year old do little tasks because she didn't grow up with cleaning other than the mad dash before company came. She had to learn as an adult with ADHD, which has been hard for her
This past fall my mom was diagnosed with blood cancer. She is responding super well to infusions, but will be getting a stem cell transplant within the next month. When hours were being cut back at work she started decluttering the house. Part of it was boredom, bothered by seeing dust, and I think partly thinking about mortality and her stuff. She lost both her parents before she was 30 and is thinking about whether my brother and I want her and her parents stuff. Getting my dad to go through stuff is similar to Blake, like pulling teeth. I would love to declutter the house, but it's not my stuff
Wow I really hope everything gets better for your mom. That must be very scary. It sounds like part of her way of taking control of the situation is to be proactive about cleaning away some clutter. Hopefully your dad can get on board too, if at least to give your mom some peace (assuming they are together).

I've been binge watching your videos and enjoying them! May I make a suggestion? As someone who is prune to motion sickness, is there another way to do your walk around shots without so much camera movement? Otherwise, great job on all the work you're doing! I'm thinking of doing a declutter by half on various parts of our house after seeing your closet declutter videos!
You can absolutely keep the California king flat sheet and pillow cases, and just get a new fitted sheet. You may have already thought of this, but I wanted to mention it. When we went up from a full to a queen we kept the full size flat sheets and pillow cases and just bought deep pocket fitted sheets by themselves. It was far cheaper than buying complete sets, and then we just donated the fitted full sized sheets by themselves. So people feel like sheet sets have to be donated all together, but there might be people like us out there who are just looking for only the fitted sheet for their California king.
I’ve changed my mindset and inner thoughts a lot now that I’ve recognized how perfectionism has made things worse for me. “Progress not perfection” is my new mantra.

You only see the whole thing when you’re standing upstairs. So that way when we have people over they would see the prettiest ones and it’s mostly only us going upstairs.

I have a trash can beside my bed and i wouldnt have it any other way. My guilty habit is snacking in bed and without the trash can my bedside table would be a mess because im also lazy.

Each of my parents has a small trashcan beside their nightstands, even though my dad could go weeks before needing to empty it
