Hi Henrietta. I seem to recall you had a surfeit of apples from your garden, So this would be a good use for some of them. I hope it's similar to your mother's.
Hi Geoff!! Hope all is good at your end. This looks to be a scrummy recipe - thanks for uploading and sharing it with us. With all good wishes as ever. Peter A :) :) :)
Hi Geoff, I'm about to go apple picking at an orchard in North Georgia. I dunno if you've had an Arkansas Black Apple but they're a treat and will likely go very well in this recipe. Apple cake is a must this time of year and I'm tickled to try your recipe this year. Take care, :)
HI Magdala. I hope you get some lovely apples. I haven't heard of the one you mentioned, but it is probably specific to the US. I hope you enjoy the cake when you try it.
Just a heads up once again for US bakers. Almost all US self-raising flours have salt added already, along with leavening. A widely popular brand, White Lily, is in fact quite heavily salted compared to my preferred salt ratio, so that's something to keep an eye on. Most US self raising flours are very highly refined and usually bleached as well, as are most "cake" flours, which I find disagreeable, so I'd go with AP flour here and add salt and baking powder,
Hi Gale Martin. No golden syrup is a syrup that is widely available in the UK, Australia, NZ etc. It is made with sugar and water and a slice/wedge of lemon, cooked until it reaches a very high temperature. It then thickens as it cools down. A reasonable substitute woudl be light corn syrup, though that will have a different flavour. Honey might also work.
Thanks for the video. Apple cider would go nicely with this apple cake. Happy Halloween.
Thanks. Happy Halloween to you too. I hope you enjoy going trick or treating.

Hi Caz. Thanks very much.
Hi Geoff,
What a wonderful Fall cake! I like the look of those apple pieces. I’m sure the cake has a much, better flavour than an applesauce cake.
😋😊
Hi Judith, thanks very much. It was delicious.

Another wonderful recipe for this time of year. Could you make this with other fruits?
Hi Alice. Thanks very much. I am sure some other fruits might work quite well, such as pears.

Hi Geoff, could I use an alternative to the milk?
Hi Faye. You can use a plant based milk, such as almond, soya etc if you wish.
@@geoffsbakingblog fab thank you 😃
Golden syrup is honey??
