You are right...I don't have it :( I was supposed to do a second video showing how to connect all the equipment, but I sold all the equipment. Maybe in the near future!
The JMP-1 is a preamp. A preamp is the part of the amp that has all the equalization part and all that. Except that with the JMP-1 it's a MIDI preamp. This way you can program patches with it just like you would with a Line 6 POD. A combo amp basically has the preamp, poweramp, and speakers all in one! But by buying rack equipment you can have more control over what you want to hear. So basically every piece in the rack will give the tone a different color.
Ignore the ignorant's...You did a great job. I always wonder what causing people to act like shit? never mind, just ignore their spilling jealousy :) your tone is great.
The Flight 666 was a poster that was hanging at a record store. It was given by my friend that worked there before they threw the poster out! The other 2 are just fabric posters that I bought at a store in Montreal. Pretty sure you can get them online.
Hello I'm the other Dave a.k.a BUZZ at 668 spring st. the neighbor of the beast. Dude action speaks louder than words, shorten the talk some other wise u take care, cheers bro.
So once you get the JMP-1 (preamp) you need to buy a POWER AMP. Which is what will amplify the signal of the JMP-1. Then the power amp will connect to the speakers (a cab)
I just purchased a JMP-1 and have a JCM 2000 TSL 100 Head and 1960A Cab. I think I have the JMP ran correctly into my head (thru effects loop) but how do you mate your JMP and G Major. Please explain how you have it hooked up. I have the exact same set up with a Rocktron Midi Mate and want to know how to create patches and switch channels using my Rocktron MIDI controller
Yeah without the wristband its pointless...Nothing works !! Lol Good job and very good video man !! Are u happy with the hot rails in the bridge? Are they just as good as a humbucker ?
Hey man, you have to put the G major in the effects loop of the JMP-1. And you probably have the JMP-1 running into the TSL through the TSL's return, right?
The old Mesa Boogie poweramps are not as expensive as the 9200 or the EL-34 and they are very good! Try to looking into the ADA MP-1 preamp that is a lot cheaper and you can still get some really good sounds. And maybe try Digitech preamps since they also include an effects section that might be more affordable than buying a single unit for effects.
Great tutorial mate but with all respect the Floyd is famous for changing tone at the bridge not the nut..but it's all cool. Fixed bridge aids susain, the brass block in the Floyd depending on weight and size determines sustain and tone too
So it's just mounted flush onto the body without any routing? Besides the little bit of routing needed to make room for the whammy arm nut that's on the underside of the bridge...?
You forgot (or maybe I missed it) the BIGGEST ingredient..solos on the NECK pickup. In the neck he uses a DiMarzio PAF on his old strat (the one he doesn't use anymore) and more recently he uses a COOL Rails for solos and the HOT rails is in the bridge. Sorry for all the caps, but I can't get this to take italics.
What is the whole big thing that the JMP-1 is hooked in to? Because when I google search a JMP-1 it's just the small gold segment. I know this is a noob question but i'd likes some help.
How does Dave Murray (and you) have the Floyd Rose installed on the Strat? Is it flush mounted onto the body or is it recessed down into the body a little bit ??
hey guy !!! so cool !!! can you detail by word the différents JMP1 regulations...i m french and i m not really a good english speacker...bests regards !!!
There is nothing more adequate than a Marshall 50 watt JMP, MXR Distortion+ and Phase 90 with some humbuckers dude! I guess a rig similar to yours on a much bigger scale would be much better for playing arena shows, but that original studio and live analog tone is unbeatable. I don't think there is any comparison between digital signal and tube amplification! You know your stuff though, you're even using the hot rails like Murray does now and are not using the Kossoff strat..
Nah, not in any fan club. I'm just a guy who watches youtube videos. I've seen Maiden several times, and am I huge fan, but I'm not dedicated to replicating anyone's particular tone. Definitely an analog purist though and quite partial to 50 watt marshalls and mxr effects. Big fan of Maiden, Priest, Schenker, Scorpions and other 70s and NWOBHM shit.
Don't get me wrong, I love the 80s stuff too. I could have chosen between an 80s rig with the JMP50s and the vintage pedalboard to get a live after death tone, and all that sweetness from World Piece Tour. But for some reason I felt more inclined to a newer rig. And looking at your last youtube post I am guessing you are from the IMFC too?
I know this vids kinda old so I'll be lucky for a reply but I'd like to know what power amp your using the the JMP-1? Seems like this type of setup versus just buying a rig is hard to find online. Especially details on setting them up. I'm kinda of new to the process and I REALLY want Daveys tone. I found some old JMP-1's online for around 600 bucks. But not sure where to look or begin for the power amp. Sorry if you mentioned it but I didn't catch it if you did! Thanks!
Hey man thats a lot for the reply! I am still saving up to by my rig and I've watched your video a ton trying to identify every component. Would you be kind enough to maybe send me a list of everything lol? I know thats a lot to ask but I would be SUPER thankful. Your tone is epic!
The most important things you need are the Marshall JMP-1, and an effects unit (G major 2) The power amp i have here is a Mesa Boogie 50/50. You don't need the most amazing effects unit to get a good chorus, reverb and delay, the most important part as I said it's the Marshall JMP-1 and hot humbucker pickups.
Does the value of 6 for bass on a jcm translate to 6/10 on a Fender amp? And does the value of 20 for gain translate to 2/10? Sorry, I don’t have a Marshall.
I just bough an old JMP-1 and i had a G-Major1, do u have the kill dry ON in G-major, what is the value on the effect key in the JMP-1. How is tour connections, Guitar in to jmp1, send jmp1 to input left gmajor , out left gmajor to jmp1 left return, Master Left output to poweramp midi pedalboard out to in jmp1 through to in gmajor Sorry to bother u but im having some probs and wanna know if im doing something wrong
The Effect key only makes it of how much you want of the G major to be active. If you have it set to 6, it means the JMP-1 will get the whole signal of the G major. If you have it set to 2, it will get less of the signal. Don't be afraid to play around with it.
pilotoatomico thanx a lot for replying, the effect key on the jmp goes to 12, i think that's the settings jmp would receive the whole signal from g-major, u have urs set to 6 is that it? and how about the kill dry, u have it set On or off? Cheers from Portugal.
How to get Dave Murray stoned?
That tone is absolutely beautiful man
Once you reach it you feel no purpose in life after wards haha
great tutorial. well spoken, good examples. a lot of dudes just play a bunch of junk and don't get specific enough. well done.
Thank you. I am glad you enjoyed the video.
6666? Now I know what is secret code in "The Number Of The Beast". This song was made just to memorize the settings :)
Great job brother. I love Dave, and I think you nailed it! I am going to tweak my line 6 spider according to your advice.
Love it.
The trick is to add delay and chorus. And of course the playing is important as well!
You are right...I don't have it :( I was supposed to do a second video showing how to connect all the equipment, but I sold all the equipment. Maybe in the near future!
Yes, I knew it all along! It was the wrist band!
PART 2 PLEEEEASE!
It's really something you have to play with. Even Adrian's reverb and delay settings change according to the venues they are at!
Wow man! Excelent tutorial and thanks for the tips. Up the irons.
Thanks to you for appreciating my efforts.
Yup, I also got him to install the pickups and all that. Then I trained with him for almost two years building guitars and repairing!
Actually this is a superb video, you've been very informative and you do have a great tone
Ignore the ignorant's...You did a great job.
I always wonder what causing people to act like shit?
never mind, just ignore their spilling jealousy :)
your tone is great.
Okay! will be waiting for part 2 \m/
Congrats man, you nailed the sound from Dave. Up the Irons.
okay thanks, pretty cool way to use effects
Yeah they are pretty hot pickups, and if Dave uses them it means they are good!
The Flight 666 was a poster that was hanging at a record store. It was given by my friend that worked there before they threw the poster out! The other 2 are just fabric posters that I bought at a store in Montreal. Pretty sure you can get them online.
Depends on the volumes of the other channels!
I bought the Strat and the Floyd separately. Then I got a luthier to route the body of the strat so the floyd rose could fit.
That's perfect! Just like Dave!
The Chorus is "Classic Chorus"?
great video! 5/5! what kind of speakers are in the marshall cab? v30?
What were the reverb settings?
That's true too! But I was trying to get as accurate as possible.
Looks like he's done a good job and the nut looks like it's always been there. They look like Seymour Duncan rails also.
Hello I'm the other Dave a.k.a BUZZ at 668 spring st. the neighbor of the beast. Dude action speaks louder than words, shorten the talk some other wise u take care, cheers bro.
He used JCM 900 in no prayer for the dying and after. But probably as a power amp only.
Very good, informative viewing. Well done ;)
where is part 2?
So once you get the JMP-1 (preamp) you need to buy a POWER AMP. Which is what will amplify the signal of the JMP-1. Then the power amp will connect to the speakers (a cab)

Good job and very good video man !!

It's a Roland FC-300 pedal. You can get better ones for the same price.
Great tutorial mate but with all respect the Floyd is famous for changing tone at the bridge not the nut..but it's all cool. Fixed bridge aids susain, the brass block in the Floyd depending on weight and size determines sustain and tone too
Nice demo young fellow
Hi can you explain the 7th Son patches used by each guitarist ? thanks ! Great work btw
So it's just mounted flush onto the body without any routing? Besides the little bit of routing needed to make room for the whammy arm nut that's on the underside of the bridge...?
Donde podría comprar un Marshall JMP-1??
You forgot (or maybe I missed it) the BIGGEST ingredient..solos on the NECK pickup. In the neck he uses a DiMarzio PAF on his old strat (the one he doesn't use anymore) and more recently he uses a COOL Rails for solos and the HOT rails is in the bridge.
Sorry for all the caps, but I can't get this to take italics.
Wayting for part two :)
Great Demo! I will have to get a Dave Murray Wrist band"...lol
Nice video man! Sounds really accurate! I wish I had all of that equipment, but I guess without the wristband it'd be useless for it all! aha
This is cool man good thing I have a wristband too
The floyd rose doesn't go all the way inside the body like a Jeff Hanneman guitar would. So you can only do whammy tricks going down
What is the whole big thing that the JMP-1 is hooked in to? Because when I google search a JMP-1 it's just the small gold segment. I know this is a noob question but i'd likes some help.
hi, can you explain how do you plug every cables exactly on the rack? step by step please? thank you
He doesn't use multi effect pedals, he uses multi effect rack equipment which is controlled by a MIDI pedalboard.
How does Dave Murray (and you) have the Floyd Rose installed on the Strat? Is it flush mounted onto the body or is it recessed down into the body a little bit ??
@osmanpbs that this pedal is that you are using? how much?
Most of the out of tuneness comes from the bridge actually, where the saddle meets the string.
Part two??
Thank you.
Haha I am just building the tension, buddy. But in my next video I will play it. I have just been VERY busy.
Great video! :)
Up the Irons!
Could you post the settings for the effects foe each of his tones. The tones are unreal and amazing.
I honestly cannot remember the settings
hey guy !!! so cool !!! can you detail by word the différents JMP1 regulations...i m french and i m not really a good english speacker...bests regards !!!

I have been busy lately and I need sometime to plan my lecture :P
He sounded best with DiMarzio Super D's
can u tell me what page is for buy that guitar
It's not completely router like those metallica jacksons that we see. So my floyd rose doesn't go up, it just goes down like dave's
I mean the poster/pictures behind you Poverslave,Flight 666 and 2 Minutes to Midnight?
how you got the dave strap??
I had to catch the wristband at a concert!
you don´t need the floyd rose, you can buy the locking nut
UP THE IRONS!!! Come and check out our cover of The Trooper! ;)
Nah, not in any fan club. I'm just a guy who watches youtube videos. I've seen Maiden several times, and am I huge fan, but I'm not dedicated to replicating anyone's particular tone. As dave got the wristband?
I like 2000s Dave Murray better than 80s Murray. Plus, all the members moved into eventually more adequate equipment that could fulfill their needs.
Which ones?
Hola, que configuracion usas para conectar el G-Major con el JMP1 ?? lo conectas por el loop del JMP1 o lo tienes en serie a la salida del Master?
Si, lo tenia conectado en el effects loop del JMP-1
Could you please send me a link to this amplifier? :))
I know this vids kinda old so I'll be lucky for a reply but I'd like to know what power amp your using the the JMP-1? Seems like this type of setup versus just buying a rig is hard to find online. +UpTheIrons Sorry for the late reply dude, it's a Mesa Boogie 50/50 all tube. 6L6 tubes I think
Hey man thats a lot for the reply! I am still saving up to by my rig and I've watched your video a ton trying to identify every component. Would you be kind enough to maybe send me a list of everything lol? I know thats a lot to ask but I would be SUPER thankful. Your tone is epic!

Ok thanks for the help!
Youre good, but where do you get the posters??????
Can you share settings in the jmp1 and the Gmajor? I have l that gear a d can't get to Sound good. I need some Gmajor settings. Can you share please?
On the JMP-1 everything at 6 with bass shift on. I can't remember the G major settings. But I think they are in the video!
+pilotoatomico TBA KS man I'll try! Você eh brasileiro? Tem Facebook?
I am Chilean living in Canada!
That too!
What about the volume of JMP1?....Maybe 15??...
Hello. Do you still have the equipment with the Jmp-1? I would like to ask about the level of the Effect key. At what level is it better?
No, it's not really worth it anymore. Amp modelling has come a long way! The most important part of everything is to have a good speaker.
sure dude
¿De dónde sos capo?
Hi this sound is very amazing! can u help me with the all settings on the G major? Pleeeeease :D
The settings are in the vid!
I started around 5 years ago
It costed a lot and I had to save for a long time. I used to be in a maiden tribute band but we never found a bass player. Mad Men? what? lol.
Does the value of 6 for bass on a jcm translate to 6/10 on a Fender amp? And does the value of 20 for gain translate to 2/10? Sorry, I don’t have a Marshall.
It would be the max on a different amp. The JMP-1 goes from -6 to 6. 0 would be midnight!
Luciano Classical Guitar Thanks!
No problem!
where did yo find this guitar ?
What tubes are you using in the JMP-1 ?
I put it together
Which one?
was wondering how you ran the preamp g major and the head in your signal chain?
You have to put the G major in the effects loop of the JMP-1
I just bough an old JMP-1 and i had a G-Major1, do u have the kill dry ON in G-major, what is the value on the effect key in the JMP-1.
How is tour connections, Guitar in to jmp1, send jmp1 to input left gmajor , out left gmajor to jmp1 left return,
Master Left output to poweramp
midi pedalboard out to in jmp1 through to in gmajor
Sorry to bother u but im having some probs and wanna know if im doing something wrong
The Effect key only makes it of how much you want of the G major to be active. If you have it set to 6, it means the JMP-1 will get the whole signal of the G major. If you have it set to 2, it will get less of the signal. Don't be afraid to play around with it.
You got the connections right!
pilotoatomico thanx a lot for replying, the effect key on the jmp goes to 12, i think that's the settings jmp would receive the whole signal from g-major, u have urs set to 6 is that it? and how about the kill dry, u have it set On or off? Cheers from Portugal.
Hello, as it is called pedal model? Thank you
+Giovanni Andres Alza Guzman The model is a FC-300 Roland pedal. You can get other MIDI pedals for a much better price though.
Where did you get the strat with the floyd rose?
what suprised me is no one has ever tried to use maidens sound in there own songs will this sound die with them.
tone is in the fingers
