    About Jackson:
    Jackson began back in the late 1970s, when heavy music experienced a flamboyant and virtuosic resurgence in popularity and a small Southern California guitar repair shop became the epicenter of a new level of shred-approved excellence. Ever since then, Jackson guitars have been universally lauded as the metal guitars; the shred machines-highly original high-performance instruments of distinctive style and formidable substance. From metal’s chart-topping peaks to its darkest recesses, for discerning guitarists all over the globe, Jackson is the only way to go.

    I swear, this band seems way too damn chilled out. Like, it's the one band that was big in the 80s where they never got an insane reputation for debauchery or anything.

      Myea... I think it's just that they're these laid back Brits. All they wanted was to be in this band and play music, good music, maybe have a drink and a smoke, just hang out with people sometimes, they seemed to have pretty steady girlfriends and wives, so... They decided to not complicate things and make the best of the band and their careers, as opposed to more partying. - Apparently the guys who argued most would be Steve and Nicko, and mostly about music, which they got over as well. - And they're pretty intelligent, too. If you have guys like Bruce Dickinson, and frankly mostly all of them, who are very anti-ego, there's little that can go wrong except maybe conflicting schedules/interests. XD

      @@michaelangeloh.5383 well noticed, ego is not a big on maiden! Even with Bruce. He says on a interview this is maybe because of Eddie functions as the ego and all that metal poser stuff; awesome explanation . But see that the band got weaker after 2000, because it got in its ego, it repeats its own identity as the fun's expected. I guess a X Faktor style or some total new trend would be more dignified than compose album for youngs with some stock music licks sorry. I am the biggest lover of Maiden till 2000.

    Out of all guitars I've played Jacksons have always been the best fit for me. They play, feel, sound amazing. I can't wait to get my hands on one of his signature model. He's my biggest inspiration for playing

      I started out playing Jackson back in 1990 or so. Then got into Gibson, Fender PRS for years and years. I just picked up a Adrian Smith Jackson and have realized how much I missed playing them and how deadly they sound. I've been playing an EVH Wolfgang for a while now and I just picked up that Jackson used at guitar center for $300, and it sounds better than my EVH. I definitely recommend one. Great guitar that's under $500 new.

    The sdx is a high quality F.R,
    as does both models, this from what I know,Adrian wanted every guitarist that wanted "his" Jackson to be able to afford one.
    Its really about a 750$ axe.my favorite thing, has to be the maple, 22 fret, 12/16 compound radius fret board. And its only 500.00. If you want a good deal,
    and a solid plywood Tweed, or black
    Tolex case, don't leave the store without it, when they see you got cash, it will be hard to get out the door, without a case for fifty more.

    I find it weird that Dave hasn't done any promo for his signature guitar at all. To my recollection, H got this guitar before the Somewhere in Time tour in 86-87 and he used it (with maiden) until he quit in 1989-1990. The original had a dimarzio PAF in the neck position though (it's now the 36th anniv PAF by dimarzio) He also had a synth guitar made by jackson. It had the synth pickup integrated into the body together with a H-S-H pickup config. That would be a rad signature guitar!

    Today in 2024 in some stores the SDXM Model is selling for $829.00...Jackson X Series Signature Adrian Smith SDXM Electric Guitar (Snow White, Black Pickguard) Bundle with Adrian Smith Molded Case (2 Items)
    Brand New
    Price$829.98Jackson X Series Signature Adrian Smith SDXM 6-String Electric Guitar (Right-Handed, Snow White)
    The Jackson X Series Signature Adrian Smith SDXM Electric Guitar features a poplar San Dimas body and a bolt-on maple neck with graphite-reinforcement rods that refuse to budge, no matter how much environmental stress it's exposed to. It's 12 to 16 inch compound radius maple fingerboard with 22 jumbo frets and black dot inlays is the perfect launching pad for rapid-fire riffing or complex chords.
    High-Output Humbucker
    The SDXM packs a Jackson high-output humbucker in the bridge position and Jackson single-coil pickups in the neck and middle positions. The humbucking pickup was painstakingly voiced for a full, rich tone while providing maximum overdrive and sustain, whereas the single-coil middle and neck pickups deliver that unmistakable Strat snap. A five-way blade selector switch with single volume and tone controls open up endless tonal possibilities, while the Floyd Rose Special double-locking tremolo system keeps the guitar in tune through any abuse you throw its way.
    12 to 16 Inch Compound Radius Maple Fingerboard
    Jackson pioneered the use of the innovative 12 to 16 inch compound radius design, in which the maple fingerboard gradually flattens toward the heel from its more rounded profile at the nut. This makes for comfortable and natural-feeling chording and riffing near the nut, with optimal shred articulation and bending nearer the heel.
    Jackson High-Output Humbucking and Jackson Single-Coil
    An atypical configuration for Jackson, this guitar features a humbucker in the bridge position and single-coil pickups in the neck and mid positions. The Jackson high-output humbucking pickup was painstakingly voiced for a full, rich tone while providing maximum overdrive and sustain. The Jackson single-coil middle and neck pickups deliver that tried-and-true Strat sound.

    I don't want to question the man himself. But he didn't use Jackson in the early 80s (at least not that model). I think the first time he used "that" guitar was in the Somewhere in time tour which was '86-'87. You can see it in the Stranger in a Strange Land video. But that guitar had like 10 different knobs on it, I've always wondered what they were for. If someone know let me know.

    • @FryskeRocker
      @FryskeRocker 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +WrathWithinMe I believe it was a special synth guitar and with those knobs he could get the right sound live for when they played songs from said record.
      During the Walking on glass solo's you can see he messes around with them if i'm not mistaking.

    • @Nghilifa
      @Nghilifa 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      He did play "this" guitar in 86, but the original had a H-S-H configuration, you can see it on gigs from 86-87 here on youtube. It was his main guitar in the 86-90 time period (It's also seen in music videos for his solo project, A.S.A.P)
      The other white Jackson that you're talking about had a synth pickup incorporated into it, hence all the knobs (and no pickguard, since it was rear-loaded) . He also used a Synth guitar for "Can I play with madness" during the Seventh Son tour in 88, but that was by another brand (Lado) . It was a Lado Lazer guitar, quite similar to the Lado Earth guitars he used during the world slavery tour (84-85).

    • @michaelangeloh.5383
      @michaelangeloh.5383 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Funny thing is, when I saw that Lado (apparently) as a teen, it always reminded me of a Jackson (I guess because of the Warrior model or whatever, but I don't think it was around back then), although I also noticed details (like the obvious Jackson-logo not being on the headstock) were different and so I never knew what it was. - Now I do. XD

    This guitar will work straight out of the box... after you've set up the damn Floyd...
    Don't get me wrong, it's a really nice guitar, but a floating bridge will complicate things no matter what. XD
    I don't get the logic of him moving from a hardtail Les Paul (which is flawed at the headstock) to a locking system but with a Floyd... As if that helps matters. - Anyway, if he decided to change his approach more recently he could've gone with an EverTune bridge. Of course that doesn't allow for whammy-stuff, but that could've been a great solution. - Also; A Kahler beats a Floyd by far... But still a cool guitar, almost like a "Super Strat" alternative to a Stratocaster. More modern but still classic.

    One fretboard is maple, the other is rosewood.
    People argue that wood affects tone but if you handed them both of those guitars blindfolded, they couldn't tell the difference. You could hand them the same guitar twice and they would say "well that one sounds darker so that's rosewood".
    It's all in their head.
    Construction-wise, maple will need adjusted less often. It also doesn't need oiled because it's sealed with lacquer. That also really changes the feel as well, a lacquer vs raw fingerboard.

  • @keithsa41
    @keithsa41 9 ปีที่แล้ว

    someone please shed some light on this. His les paul has a tune amatic bridge and shorter scale, so how isn't it that it can't stay in tune? It's pretty easy for tuning of a paul.. The other thing, i have had floyd rose trems with lock nut and locking tuners, yet the trem gets out of tune and needs to constantly be adjusted at the trem. Even stacking with 4 springs the floyd trem will go out of tune unless i block the trem which defeats the purpose of nose dives...

    • @ZiddersRooFurry
      @ZiddersRooFurry 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      keithsa41 First off every guitar is different. Second playing at home or clubs even is different than flying all over the world and subjecting your guitar to all kinds of pressure/temp changes. Third he has a custom guitar fine tuned by the folks at the factory. Odds are they're gonna put a ton more effort into making sure his works correctly. I'm sure they put a lot of effort into all their instruments but obviously they're gonna want his to be perfect as they can make it.

    • @Nightshade1881
      @Nightshade1881 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You probably didn't balance it correctly
      I have two guitars with Floyd rose specials like this Adrian smith model and they don't ever go out of tune. It's a bitch to get it to that point, trial and error but once set up it won't go out of tune. Tune o matic and strat tremolos not set up correctly will go out of tune

      I have a San Dimas and almost cried when I first owned it, then I learned
      with lockin nut unlocked ,tune to pitch standard
      but by B A E D C G
      lock tuners down snug but not like a tourque wrench!
      make sure you are level with body to tremelo
      Have EVERY fine tuner screws level 1/2 way out
      tune it exactly like this.... patiently
      BAEDCG
      do it again
      and again
      and again
      let it sit overnight
      do it again
      BAEDCG
      again
      maybe one more time or two after playing
      BAEDCG
      Locked and loaded and dive bomb away and never worry again!
      keep that bridge balanced ,a little pull up is ok but not much,
      If not you need another spring. Patience and it is so worth it.
      I also own 2 Les Pauls so I can attest when done right they are both great guitars with excellent stability.
      Enjoy

    People looked at me funny when I said a guitar is just a tool. I also liked Jackson because they stayed in tune and played really well. I've tried Gibson, Fender, PRS, etc. and chose Jackson guitars. I've played all night on a Jackson and never had to re-tune it.

      Buy a Gibson and see how finicky they are, with tuning. Great sound, easy to play. They do NOT stay in tune.

      Jay Dobbins That depends a lot mate... I have a Custom Shop VOS 1958, and it stays perfectly in tune.

      I stand corrected. They're not all bad. We dilly dallied around with my '07 studio and have it staying in tune pretty well. I have an early 90's studio and it stays in very well. I've gotten back in to them. That scale, the neck, tone, how they play. It's very unique.

    Always loved Jackson guitars, just ordered one (different model) after many great years of service from my first one...so many delays, so many extended delays...going on 3 months for a non custom guitar is not cool...may cancel and just move on as there is no drop dead date, just "another 2 weeks".

      TuningSociety West, Well after 6 months of waiting and being lied to by both the Jackson team and Fender, I canceled. So I went with a Custom builder and glad I did, got exactly what I wanted and I'm sure a better build all around and for about 1K less then a Jackson custom...Jackson on the headstock is not worth 1K ever. Way to push away a long time customer

      irondarwin Can you still pull up on the trem? Or is it a dive only floyd?
      btw thank you for answering my previous question.

    • @irondarwin2483

      You're welcome. The way it comes (true to Adrian's), you can only dive. The technical term is "non-recessed." On the plus side, this makes it extremely stable. You could loosen the springs to give it some play as you would a standard Fender tremelo. A standard strat trem is non-recessed but can be set up to float. Or you could route out a pocket in the body. There are templates online to do it. Both are complicated and the second option I would leave to a very qualified professional.

    • @currerbell-eyre606
      @currerbell-eyre606 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      irondarwin Haha, thank you. I really love this guitar I just wish it could float. But I am not about to risk destroying the entire body of the instrument by attempting to route it myself. I would definitely find a luthier to do it.

      I don't blame you there. I'll mess with my cheap guitars all day but the nice ones I don't want to risk. One option would be getting the SDX model, replacing the pickups and recessing the Floyd. I think that would still be cheaper than the San Dimas model! Must be nice to have a Jackson endorsement deal...

    Dear, Santa. I don´t have money enough to buy nice cars and therefore get laid once in a while. I have two electric guitars, a hand-made, which intonation and settings are damn lousy and my Ibanez RG 550 settings are so fucked,cause I changed thicker strings and now bendin and holding another note still (countrylick) at the same time is impossible. I think no-one can help me with these because I´m leftie and in a music shop they didn't know how to. Bring this Jackson leftie. Thank you so much
