    I love following brents work at cerro gordo, was really cool to see someone like you enjoy it so much. Im sure brent woulda been happy to shoot a short clip with you he seems like a chill guy. Would love to see you comment on some of his mine exploring videos on the things you can pick out. Maybe even one day theyd let you ride the lift down and you could make a great video about it

      I would absolutely love to go into one of his underground mines. It would be such a thrill of a lifetime. Maybe someday.

      Wow Elley, you know a lot about rock's or Geology and listening to you geek out about everything you find is great. If you and Brent joined your knowledge together the tour's that the both of you could provide. Cerro Gordo could become a Geology school of it's own. Not to mention the field trips would be awesome.

    Been watching Brent's channel since he started it. It was interesting to get your take on the dreaded road .
    Brent is quite emphatic about the difficulty of getting up to Cerro Gordo and after watching this video I now understand.
    Didn't realize there were so many other little holes in the walls on the way up.
    Good vid.

    My first time ever watching one of your videos , and I must say I’m impressed with your knowledge of rocks . My wife & I have been watching Brent’s videos about his town since the first episodes aired & he & his crew have been doing spectacular things up there . Glad you were able to meet him in person & really enjoyed watching this video . As a side note our second daughter just gave us the first Granddaughter ( we have 3 grandsons from our first ) and coincidentally our Granddaughter is also named Elizabeth ( Ellie for short ) and since our two girls are Red -Heads we are pretty sure Ellie will be as well . At only just barely 11 months old now she shows an inquisitive mind and I’m hoping she will become an outdoors person along with the rest of our family . Who knows, maybe she will become interested in geology as well & someday have her own adventure channel like you 😉😎👍

      I’m so glad you enjoyed my video. Thank you for watching. It was great to meet Brent and chat with him about the mine. The area was awesome. Congratulations on your grand children. Start putting rocks next to her crib. Lol when she’s old enough get her a science kit, lol maybe she’ll get into geology that would be awesome. Have a wonderful day.

    You may not know this, but old adits (especially blind declines) with exposed sulfides (pyrite) the oxygen in the air may get depleted. All of a sudden you pass out, then die! My father (geologist) liked to use carbide lamps because in "dead air" the flame would go out, telling him to back out. (Similar to the story of canaries in a coal mine). In one instance, my father and a colleague were sampling an adit (decline) and they found a sharp boundary where the carbide lamps would repeatedly snuff out. Thx for the video!

    • @ElleyKnowsRocks
      @ElleyKnowsRocks  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is exactly right. It can be a very unsafe thing to do. And even though I wasn’t exactly sure of the air quality. There was a lot of foot traffic that went in and out of this mine, this tells me that there had been a few people there before us. In general, if I know that I’m going to an area with a Bandan mines, I will bring my gas monitor. And that’s kind of one of the reasons I stopped and didn’t go all the way in.. thank you so much

    This is the Estelle tunnel workings the goal was to connect the Estelle to the Union and Morning Star mines.
    I had hoped you would walked back to the collapse so you could give name to the clay mix formation.

    • @ElleyKnowsRocks
      @ElleyKnowsRocks  ปีที่แล้ว

      I wouldn’t walk back if I would’ve had more time., in my notes of research about this place I have all of the rock formations and I believe the formation you’re talking about is the chainman formations, they are undefined shells, and argillaceous rocks (Clastic sedimentary rock containing silt- or clay-sized particles) and some of the formation can still have soft clay pockets and visible clays throughout. Does that help?

    Just found your channel, I like it, and you. Much more personable than that Brent fellow, I'll be honest, he's a bit tedious for my taste and I find his channel unwatchable. You, on the other hand are quite knowledgeable and I enjoy the obvious glee you express in sharing said knowledge. Back in the dark ages (early 80s), I dated a geology major, toured the western US a couple summers with her. You remind me of a simpler time.
    Thank you, I think I'll follow along if you don't mind. Best regards from Indiana.

    I’m a hard core abandoned mine TH-cam addict ! Great videos from you …but just to say…if I heard you say “friggen” during your dialogue, then I don’t (with respect) think this is needed in any sentence; let alone on a public video you want people to watch. It might not bother some but to others it will - besides it’s so unprofessional. Moan over… ;-) take care and keep exploring. 🚢🇬🇧🚂⛏

    I’m really surprised he’s never shown that first mine site yet. I’ve been watching his channel since he made the move out there. It’s a really cool looking site.

      There's still wealth in them there hills, and although the bank is usually happy to show you the vault; they don't typically hand out the combination.

      @@michaelcheli5842 makes perfect sense. I only asked because I thought he was just an explorer and not the actual owner of the mine site.
