Dear Brent. I don't know if you realized but your "little" project has grown already beyond Cerro Gordo! Your passion for the preserving the history of Wild West reaches way out then just the your Ghosttown in California. Cerro Gordo is going to become the "living museum" of the spirit of the West. That is so wonderful.

Indeed, everything he's experienced in the last 3 years are analogous to the experiences of the original pioneers who made the town a success. The technology he's using to solve problems may be different and more advanced, but many of the struggles - the weather, securing and transporting building materials, getting water in the desert, and so on are all the same struggles that they had to figure out 150 years ago. Heck, even Brent's decision to sell everything he owned to move out to the middle of the desert and start a new life is not terribly different from many of the stories of the miners who ended up in Cerro Gordo during its heyday - even if his motivation to preserve the existing history may differ from the motivations of those original settlers to just earn money in the mines (or from the miners), he's still a modern embodiment of their indomitable will and unwavering pioneering spirit to make the town a success.

Brent! I made it across the country in my little RV that could 😊 This week, I loaded my rig onto a ferry and crossed white capped waves on Lake Erie and am staying out on a gorgeous little island that is choked full of limestone mining history that needs to be explored. After a couple years wandering the West, this place is definitely a green and lush site for this desert lady's eyes.
I'm so so so so grateful for my nomad life and taking the huge leap of faith to make this happen... thanks for the inspiration when things were looking really dim.

The owner of said bar was willing to give up that history to someone who will respect it and looked after it.
If it had of went to anyone else they may not have gave a damn that it was a brunswick bar and sent it to the landfill.
By that bar ending up in cerro gordo has saved your history as I'm sure when the hotel opens and people stay at it he will be paying respect to where he got it.
When it comes to the hotel and the town in general someone else could have bought it over and just bulldozed the lot.
I don't know if you guys take this into consideration but the vast majority of the modern world don't give a damn about history.
Think of this. How many people visit any of the towns along route 66. ( the mother Road that made America )
None. I just watched a video documentary on it and the two who created the video where the only people on the road. Everyone else was on the interstate highway right next to it driving on past like everyone did after it was built.
This man has done more for American history than the average American that prides themselves on it so don't dare speak down to him. You should all be ashamed.

So glad to see a man so dedicated to preserving the history of a special place. Not only that. But also can get deep in the feelings and understanding of a places past, you are able to feel the past as if you saw it almost. Ive been watching from way back man and it makes me more than happy to see the place coming to how it is. I hope i can visit someday, it would be super awesome to metal detect the area and look for some old repeaters and wheel guns i bet you have some around there. Best of luck to you, I dont think there is a better guy to be taking care of this place. Hope you go out tonight and watch the sunset on that favorite spot you go to friend - Noah

I love it! We used to live in Bastrop and frequented the restaurant where that bar was located. When you said you were picking up a Brunswick bar in Bastrop I knew which bar you were talking about. It’s beautiful! It was awesome to see our old stomping grounds in this video. I love the work that you are doing and I can’t wait to visit Cerro Gordo in the future! Cheers!
