I love so d@mn much how love transcends language and culture. We are all so much more connected than we know and it makes me feel so much better just realizing that.
We've had rats and their short lives are really rhe only negative aspect about them. They are smart, affectionate and fun. The most memorable rat for us was Squiddle. We had a two day funeral and my granddaughters sang songs, read their own poems. He was launched into the next world with style and live. With Bob and Gary they seem to get on reasonably well. Two males can get vicious but these two seem to overcome that.
This was a really cool video thank you. I learned something here. All animals feel and want to be safe and protected and give and recieve affection. Great story.
Awww they really are the most darling creatures!! My younger siblings had them and they really are the sweetest!! Their tails freaked me out only because the sweetie pies would wrap their tails around my arm when I snuggled them and I wasn’t used to it 🤣 I had never had a cat with a tail until I was in my 20’s, and had the same startled reaction 🙄😂😂

Thank you for showing what wonderful pets rats are! They are intelligent, friendly, sweet, clean and playful. Everyone thought i was nuts when I rescued one, but anyone that met my Loki loved him. He was like a really tiny little dog that loved exploring, learning new tricks, watching tv with us and snuggling. I miss him!
Nothing you've said dear lady is either silly or cheesy.....a pet's love can be just as strong and sincere, and sometimes even more, than a human's. Enjoy the time you have with those little furry cuties, and when you're ready, open your heart to more. ❤
When my 15 yr old brought home a MOUSE in a box, he soon became MY buddy. (teens are notoriously neglectful) I loved that little girl & she was SO smart! I bawled like a baby when she developed a tumor and had to be euthanized. 💔😥 The vet understood.
@@maryellenhoscila2904 the capacity to love a living creature that much is your superpower. You have made a difference in this sad world, believe it. God bless you 🙏.
Rats are extremely intelligent, endearing and loyal. Once they bond with you - you are their designated human. It is unfortunate the animals who 1-give their lives daily for medical research, are 2-seen as a scourge in big cities, and 3-spread the plague in medieval times, and 4-are beloved pets? They all descend from the same stock..
Fleas are what spread the plague, fleas were on the rats, but the bites from fleas were the true vectors. Back then all animals, including humans, had fleas.
To overcome my fear of rats, one Easter I had a fine idea. Easter rats! Thusly Bullseye and Wilma, like two little jelly beans, packaged snug and warm, went home to join the us at the Acre. Bull'seye was a true escape artist, it was a gift; from glass aquariums, to wire cages, latches, locks, and many hours of contemplation.....yet Time after time he won the game! I had mad respect for his ingenuity not to mention his outright pluck! As he made his secret forays, exploring his way through the upstairs rooms to see what he could find. I have to give my dearest ex husband props here, when bullseye slunk into the bed at night to have a bit of a snuggle; he always laughed and took it on the chin. This little dickens would even come to me when I called him, loved scratches behind the ears, and liked to play! He truly was like owning a weeny dog in so many ways. I know one thing my children and I will never forget Bullseye.
Loved your comment and your writing is superb. It was like reading a short story. If you're not already a writer then maybe you should be. Made me want to read more. God bless!!
I have 4 male pet rats and I absolutely love every single second with them! Their names are Beans, fluffy, smokie, and curly. They treat me like their ratty mom and I get lots and lots of cuddles and grooming lol… my 8 yr old daughter just adores them all and we have tons of fun playing with them. Fluffy wags his tail when I pet him and they all get baths regularly to prevent fleas and other skin issues they can sometimes get. (I live in an area that is weather extreme on both ends) so please if you do have the room and heart, get a pair of rats they will change your life for the better.
I’ll never forget a friend I had in school who had a big pet rat and when she came to class it was in her hoodie - and it was so sweet and like the lady in the video says “they are nothing what you expected” but the nicest pet to have and love and they love you back too❤
This is so true, Rats are amazing creatures, I have had so many of them due to their short life span (2 years is a bit short I would say 2-4 years) RIP: Jupiter, Socrates, Cheo Chun and all my baby Ratties...Mommy loves you forever...
This reminds me of my little rat Dizzy. She was just like this. Always out. Always sharing my breakfast and wandering off with a whole piece of toast back to her storage area. Wonderful pet. She just sat on my shoulder and we watched TV all evening. Then at bedtime put safely away and the next day just slide her lid open and she'd be out after a drink and a stretch. Lived nearly to 5.
Best pets ever imo. Love my babies. Couldn't/wouldn't want to ever be without their companionship. They bring me joy every single day, just looking at their lil faces makes me so very happy.
You obviously live in a city, wild rats and mice or legion, without pest control in the country you would starve along with many other species of animals, and eventually they would run out of food and start to cannibalize, not to mention the spread of disease from an out of control mice and rat population, maybe eat some meat once in a while so that brain of yours can function properly.
@@winning3329 Hi thanks for asking, I've started a couple but others can be found on petition sites, I'd do a search because several can be signed and many others for animals. I can't share links on here tho
@@danielschannel701actually it's the opposite. Wild rats in captivity can live several years but domestic rats have much shorter life spans, probably due to mass breeding. I think breeding w the focus on extending life span could be done to add some time and diet and supplements could be used as well. I'm actually in the process of experimenting w the diet and supplement aspect. I truly believe w a proper diet and using specific natural substances we could at minimum keep them healthy thru old age.
Some animals won't eat unless the animal they are eating is not alive. That is just part of nature. Snakes are one of those, some geckos also. My friend has a gecko and she needs to feed him live crickets
@@DanielMaixner I read the last part of your comment as, "...she needs to feed him live chickens", and i immediately thought WHAT MONSTROUS GECKOS IS YOUR FRIEND BREEDING?! lol brain fart.
The problem with rats (wild undomesticated ones) is that they carry many deceases, it is just like with any other wild animal, the problem with rats is that they adapted to roam around cities and areas with great population, and are more prone to easily pass on whatever decease they might be carrying compared to other animals that usually live in forests and places with little to no people living in there. You are right it shouldn't be that way, but it's difficult to find other ways specially when rats can reproduce so fast.

My eldest had a pet rat when he was 9 or 10. I think I spent more time with Wade than my son did. He was a lovely light beige with white patches. Very affectionate, easy to maintain, cute little guy. They are a great pet for kids that age, because they only live two to four years, which is around the same time when your kids are too busy to look after them. I don’t know why, maybe the warmth, but they naturally gravitate to sit on your shoulder or in the hood of a hoodie. Well done to this Fur-Mom for getting past her fear factor. 👍
This is so beautiful, and such a good video to post about rats. The more we learn about things, the more we understand, and the less fearful we are, and this video shows what lovely creatures rats are.

I love that she answered a lot of questions many would have about them...litter trained...free roaming...bruxing...I learned a lot. And they are adorable!
Delightful creatures. Highly intelligent and trainable. Make wonderful companions.
I wish it were more socially acceptable to adopt rats as pets. They're wonderful creatures! ❤!
They're very intelligent creatures.
It is socially acceptable. I'm not sure what you are talking about. Plus why would you care what other people think? Many people eat rabbits while having them as pets at the same time. That's weird.
It’s your home and your life. Stop caring about the opinions of people you wouldn’t ask for advice.
@@helenhines2712 Yes, they're the most intelligent rodent you can care for..
@kyra_from_kerkyra It's all good if you're a teen or college age, if you have kids or if your community has less traditional parameters, go for it. Don't be single and dating without any other animals, though. Tell a prospective partner that you have rats as pets and watch their reaction. It's hit or miss, and mostly, it's a miss because most believe they're dirty pests that infest a home and do a lot of damage.
Not cheesy at all.....the love of an animal is pure, based on trust.....no agenda, no malice, no second guess.
This is so touching. I pray that Bob and Gary live much longer than normal. Blessings to this family for loving and saving these beautiful boys.

Ναι ! Τα δέχτηκε και έγινε η τελεια «μητέρα» τους. Τα καλύτερα pets νομίζω εγώ, ότι είναι τα rats. ♥️
That’s the hardest part about falling in love with a little rat. It’s their short life span.😢
I always remeber, that as a human, we are with our pets forever, and that all the joy they bring, is greater than the sorrow
This was a really cool video thank you. I learned something here. All animals feel and want to be safe and protected and give and recieve affection. Great story.
I love that there are all types of people to love all types of animals.
It ABSOLUTELY KILLS me that they live for such a short time. I truly wish they lived longer. Precious little souls.
Bob and Gary? lmao, that's hilarious......too cute! Rats get a bad rap
Precious little souls!❤❤
It breaks my heart that such beloved creatures have such short time with their families.😢😢
I had a pet rat named gizmo when I was a kid
Aww how cute did he die when you grew up or is he still with you just asking you? Sorry if I’m rude? 😣 🥰 🐀
Please rescue two so they can be together.

Soooo adorable❤ that little hands, their face & intelligence. Whole package!

The vet understood.
@@maryellenhoscila2904 the capacity to love a living creature that much is your superpower. You have made a difference in this sad world, believe it. God bless you 🙏.
Rats are altruistic, clean, and very intelligent.
Boy rats are super chill. They'll just zone out and snuggle with you. These two are such cuties~
I've had 20+ rats over about 8 years, they are such incredible little friends
Rats are extremely intelligent, endearing and loyal. Once they bond with you - you are their designated human. It is unfortunate the animals who 1-give their lives daily for medical research, are 2-seen as a scourge in big cities, and 3-spread the plague in medieval times, and 4-are beloved pets? They all descend from the same stock..
Their lives are not given to be tortured in medical and other research. They're taken.
I've heard it wasn't really the rats directly carrying plague, but the fleas on them. Not certain.
Fleas are what spread the plague, fleas were on the rats, but the bites from fleas were the true vectors. Back then all animals, including humans, had fleas.
Rats don't spread the "Plague" its the Fleas on the Rats that carried the "Plague to Humans"....According to my Biology professor.
Their little ears are so cute! I wanna feel 1
Oh yes, thank you for showing me how cute pet rats are. I've never know of their overloaded cuteness.
.
Precious innocent creatures :) so cute and im so sad now that i know they only live about two years :(((((((((
Oh, my gosh--this is so sweet!
I'm sad their lives are so short, but loving and beloved Bob and Gary are in the best of homes, bringing joy.
Honestly they look super cute and have adorable personality, I wish we weren't taught to hate them from an early age.
Lol, "My son wanted a rat..." ❤😊❤
My sister had a rat name Stripes who lived for a little under 7 years ! With lots of love and cuddles and everything they can live long lives 🥰🥰🥰
To overcome my fear of rats, one Easter I had a fine idea. Easter rats! Thusly Bullseye and Wilma, like two little jelly beans, packaged snug and warm, went home to join the us at the Acre. Bull'seye was a true escape artist, it was a gift; from glass aquariums, to wire cages, latches, locks, and many hours of contemplation.....yet
Time after time he won the game!
God bless!!
❤❤❤❤❤👍
I have 4 male pet rats and I absolutely love every single second with them! Their names are Beans, fluffy, smokie, and curly. They treat me like their ratty mom and I get lots and lots of cuddles and grooming lol… my 8 yr old daughter just adores them all and we have tons of fun playing with them. Fluffy wags his tail when I pet him and they all get baths regularly to prevent fleas and other skin issues they can sometimes get. (I live in an area that is weather extreme on both ends) so please if you do have the room and heart, get a pair of rats they will change your life for the better.
I had an albino rat named Luna and she was the best! This is so cute!
I have had 2 rats. They are such great pets. I just wish they lived longer😢❤

Very true..!!!! ♥️🐀🇨🇦
Where can I sign?
You obviously live in a city, wild rats and mice or legion, without pest control in the country you would starve along with many other species of animals, and eventually they would run out of food and start to cannibalize, not to mention the spread of disease from an out of control mice and rat population, maybe eat some meat once in a while so that brain of yours can function properly.
It's disgusting

Pocket Puppies
I love this!
I had no idea they only lived for 2 years. That saddens me greatly for her.
I thought they lived longer in captivity. 2 years sounds like a lifespan for a rat in the wild.
@@danielschannel701 nope, can reach 3 years but often cancer comes around 2 yrs maximum
Me as well 😔
Rats also age rapidly hence the short lifespan its 30 rat years per 1 human year so a 3yr old rat would be 90 in rat years 🐀🐀
@@danielschannel701actually it's the opposite.
"Feeder rats" OMG, live feedings should be against the law.
@@DanielMaixner Yes they will. They will eat if you move the food around for them. It is the motion that triggers them.
Agree! It's disgusting
@@DanielMaixner A gecko or any other reptile will eat hamburger meat. Or dog food, for that matter.
They are lovely creatures and incredibly intelligent. Lovely pets, I just wish they lived longer.
Yet, billions are slaughtered each year! All creatures, have the right to life! Even, the ones we eat! 😒
Agree!😢 Stopped eating animals 4 yrs ago!!!!❤
rat's tail can wiggle like a worm and it's an adorable thing that a grey rat kinda came from a dog on his previous life

This is beautiful and fascinating. I never thought rats could be this personable and affectionate.
I loved all the rats my children had growing up but I never knew them to wag their tails. Your guys are very special 😊
Gerbils are the exact same- so trusting, so curious and they DEFINATELY show how happy they are by their movements- they’ll wink at you, and if you wink back, sometimes they’ll wink again. They are also wicked smart. I’m very glad to know that other people see “rodents” as pets and not just problem animals.
0:59 - I had two pet rats when I was a kid. Sadly, I didn't have them at the same time, because I didn't realize that rats are social animals and need company. One of them was such a sweetheart, came when his name was called and even made friends with our cats! The other was a nice enough rat, but not as much personality. (I don't recall seeing either of them wag their tails, though.)
I had a pet rat when I was a kid around 6 th grade. He was one of the best pets I've ever had. He was so smart. I'll love him forever. it's unfortunate that they only live to be about 3 years old. I was devastated when he died, but I'll never regret having had Einstein as a pet.
