I love the base model iPhones. Its noticeably lighter and less bling, bling than the Pro series. I currently have the iPhone 15 with a physical sim tray that I bought in Europe. I will not buy another iPhone though because of the NO sim tray because I also have the S24 (amazing phone as well) and go back and forth between phones when I want to. I dont need to call the carrier, etc. And I'm not going back to Europe for the overpriced sim tray version. But these base model iPhones are great phones all around. I don't care about 60 whatever refresh rate. The base model iPhone is greater than the sum of its parts (specs). Great video as usual, Adam.

This years base phones also have the pro features that’s more relevant to my daily use. No need for the high end camera specs and hope I will get used to the 60hz refresh rate, but I’m sure I’ll adapt to it.
I have to admit, one of the best things that they’re doing now is giving the 16 models their own processor as well, instead of getting the previous year’s processor.

I’m going to enjoy the processor speed, longer battery life, action and camera control buttons, faster wireless charging, and in the future, AI. Thanks for this review.
@@TechOdyssey I bit the bullet and got my 16 Plus today (Thursday September 26 by the time you see this comment). T-Mobile had a great promotion to get 3 accessories free if you upgrade. So I finally traded in my aging iPhone 11 (and moved everything from the 11 to the 15 Plus). Then moved everything off my 15 Plus and onto the 16 Plus so I have the 15 Plus as a backup in case something goes wrong. I did get the Ultramarine I wanted. So far I’m happy with it. I just got the 16 Pro Max yesterday so far it’s the same little bit upgrades. Right now I have to let the battery going to 20% to improve the battery life. I was in decision either regular or pro but make sense for me to get pro because the price and what it offers. Verizon offered promo for upgrade so I am paying the same bill every month under $100 a month it’s worth it 😊
Great video very fair. I love the look of the regular over the pro but if I were in the market I would have to go pro for refresh rate. It’s funny I care about color and design then I put a case on it, lol.
I agree about the polished overall design and look with the bright colors. Not all "the best" features but a good choice for most consumers. If you are not a photography geek this is the /cheaper/lighter/more elegant choice. I prefer the plus model of the two variants - better battery and mre screen.
Agreed that 90 Hz on the base model iPhones would be nice but really is it in such issues, only time I believe you will notice is if you are scrolling through long documents all switching from my iPhone screen to another really quick, just slow it down And actually, I have read where some commenters to save battery life on the pro models are actually changing the screen refresh settings back to 60 Hz to save battery life or get more out of battery, because apparently having a screen at 120 Hz and using it all the time, take up more battery. So I suppose it comes down to this whether you want smooth scrolling or be the battery life.
Just got the 16 plus and I find it a decent upgrade from my old 11 pro max..Does everything better and much more storage. Just a phone I don’t expect anymore as I don’t want a fold or anything flash.

Are you tied to an ecosystem? Like does iMessage matter? If ecosystem doesn't matter then I would go to Samsung personally but ultimately that is your call. Samsung does have 120hz and more customization. If that is something important for you.
I’m not a tech person I have a iPhone 11 , but I don’t know what 60hz means and I don’t know what people see or why people are upset about it what is 60hz ?
It's how fast the display refreshes. Bigger the number the smoother the display. I'm making it into a little summary but yeah that's the gist of it. Like 60hz next to 120hz is sluggish looking and choppy. You gotta see it in person to really get a feel for it. It matters to some and doesn't matter to others.
I think they can't do 90hz on the base phone, because it would be the same as the pro max, apparently people have tested like ice that the iphones only run up to 80hz most the time unless in a game.
My Dad has an iPhone 12 Pro Max and Apple will stop supporting security updates for his phone next year. He likes his iPhone so I'm going buy him the 17 Pro Max when it comes out. The wife and I are sticking with the Foldable phones like the Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold on the Android platform. If they next iterations of our current phones are just minimally better then we will stick with what we have and wait until the next year after.
What are you talking about? Apple will still support the iPhone 12 pro Max for many many years to come. Come on bro. Apple has always supported their phones for years. Nothing new here.
The security update is still 7 years and the iOS update is 5 years for iPhones? If that is the case I can wait another 2 years until I buy my dad a new iPhone. He is too scared to go with Android. LOL. My wife and I switch back and forth between the two all the time. Now we are loving our foldable phones: Pixel Fold 9 and Z Fold 6. My home has dual Asus GT-BE98 Pro Wifi 7 routers, 10be, and I have Internet speeds of 3Gbe up and down. This makes my 120TB Synology 10gbe NAS server transfer files, photos, videos, calendar, notes, Surveillance videos, etc. very quickly and automatically in the background to any of our devices in and out of our home. All cloud based storage services from Google or Apple are turned off when I set up any new devices.
I'm also divided.. 15 pro is definitely the better deal, but lack the new button for AI.. most reviews say it's a camera gimmick but it will be used for take instant pictures for apple intelligence. If not why would add the button to the base 16?
I'm also confused about the same thing But if I go for 15 then surely I would get 15 pro max but also confused with base 16 because most of the peps didn't notice any differences between 60hz and 120hz
@@ballaholic1068 no iPhone is a required purchase. I’m not here for philosophical discussions on what phone people should buy. But also people who financed iPhone 13s 3 years ago are in their carrier upgrade cycle to trade their old one in and get a new one for basically free.

Is he saying the iPhone has trouble searching photos all these years! I did notice with my iPhone 14 it had no way to rename photos that I am aware of. So you have to buy a Mac computer to rename phones? That alone is insane.
Thermal management is better on the standard 16, 15s due to the aluminum materials. Titanium is a good conductor of heat so instead of allowing the heat to pass thru like the aluminum material it will literally heat soak the phone, which is most likely the heat issues with the 15 pro series. Hopefully Apple did a better job with thermal management this generation.
The amount of times he essentially said it sucks apples 800 phone doesn’t have everything their 1100$ phones do . Which is sorta relevant as the stuff on the pros should be standard and the pros should have way better stuff but if that’s not what he meant then it’s stupid as why would they have 2 pros and non pros if that all were the same ?
I cant agree with the title. I mean there are the new huge camera holes and the ultrawide is not the 48mp one. Thats a joke seriously. That price tag without 4k120fps, the new ultrawide and still 60hz.. unacceptable imho Edit: But the "teal" is super sexy :)

Can you review the plus version?
I’m debating on getting the 16+ or the S24+ and idk which one… I have the 15 now and I go back and fourth
I've stopped caring about refresh rate. At this point, I'm looking for amazing battery performance.
I'm having issues with my 16 Pro Max screen not registering touches, especially when typing on the virtual keyboard.
Do you think a large amount of people are holding on for the SE 4.
I doubt it
@@TechOdyssey What's do you think the price will be. Over 499 or that.
@@gordy3714 probably $549-599 but hopefully $499
I think they can't do 90hz on the base phone, because it would be the same as the pro max, apparently people have tested like ice that the iphones only run up to 80hz most the time unless in a game.
Ight phone reviews aside
MKBHD legit got hated not because of iPhone fanboys😂 but the wallpaper controversy
What wallpaper is that?
Like camera looks better than 3 . .. is 60hz that slow or has iOS got scrolling down ok
It will be supported until 2027 with security updates. iOS 19 in 2025 might be the last software update it gets though.
@@katinasoutherland7693 It will be supported until 2027 with security updates. iOS 19 in 2025 might be the last software update it gets though.
60hz would make the experience miserable for me
I hate it
Buying the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16? What would you recommend?
I'm also divided.. 15 pro is definitely the better deal, but lack the new button for AI.. most reviews say it's a camera gimmick but it will be used for take instant pictures for apple intelligence. If not why would add the button to the base 16?
I'm also confused about the same thing
But if I go for 15 then surely I would get 15 pro max but also confused with base 16 because most of the peps didn't notice any differences between 60hz and 120hz
I still don’t understand why Apple in the 2024 are still using a 60hz screen seem crazy.
if u have a 13 and up, it’s a waste of money to upgrade, wait for next year
It's definitely not a waste. A judgment call yes, not required, yes. A waste, no. There are tons of upgrades over the 13.
@@TechOdysseybut the promise of better HW (camera) next time ?
@@TechOdysseyHow is not a required purchase NOT a waste when it’s over 1,000 dollars? Unless you have no phone at all, it’s a waste of money
@@ballaholic1068 no iPhone is a required purchase. I’m not here for philosophical discussions on what phone people should buy. But also people who financed iPhone 13s 3 years ago are in their carrier upgrade cycle to trade their old one in and get a new one for basically free.
@@ballaholic1068if it is a waste of money that’s a personal choice. If that’s the case … eating out, buying new clothes, going on vacations and just spending money is a waste of money by your logic.
There's a video showing iPhone 16 Pro vs iPhone 13 Pro side by side. Looks the same!
Now they say thanks to AI searching photos on the iPhone 16 actually work. Is he saying the iPhone has trouble searching photos all these years!
I did notice with my iPhone 14 it had no way to rename photos that I am aware of. So you have to buy a Mac computer to rename phones? That alone is insane.
What do you think of the pro max ?
My question is if IPhone 16 is good….
Will the PLUS BE BETTER????….
Also this
It has 8gb ram right
Yes
what about privacy?
What about it?
iPhone 17 will be the exact same phone with promotion
The amount of times he essentially said it sucks apples 800 phone doesn’t have everything their 1100$ phones do . Which is sorta relevant as the stuff on the pros should be standard and the pros should have way better stuff but if that’s not what he meant then it’s stupid as why would they have 2 pros and non pros if that all were the same ?
This should be the cheaper 16s model.
I don't care about refresh rates. All iPhones run the same regardless
Please dont waste money on 16. Spend $250 and buy Pro. You will regret buying 16.
I cant agree with the title.
I mean there are the new huge camera holes and the ultrawide is not the 48mp one. Thats a joke seriously.
That price tag without 4k120fps, the new ultrawide and still 60hz.. unacceptable imho
Edit: But the "teal" is super sexy :)
I can’t agree with your assessment
@@TechOdyssey Thats ok of course 😊
@@Granturion of course. 🫡
google pixel 10
I agree if the 9 series from Google looks this good and most of not all problems are addressed this is just the tip of the iceberg and am kind of excited to see what the 10 holds and beyond
depends on the person's preference, both phones are very similar
That is such a pretty color! 🩵
60 to 120hz not that big of difference to me
OMG! iPhone 16 looks just like the Pixel 9 Pro...JK😎
Take away Ai stuff the iPhone 16 becomes the best deal in the U.S. market for high end phones imo.
$829 for 60hz, no aod is not even an ok deal.
The SE 4 will offer most if not ALL of the same features for $499.99.
If it ever happens
@@TechOdyssey It’s going to release in March of 25.
@@jedolivier2688 we shall see. That hasn’t been announced and is also 6 months away
@@TechOdyssey They’re saying that it’ll have the same 8 gb ram because AI won’t work without it. These phones will be AI compatible.
@@TechOdyssey They won’t sell many of these phones if they’re not AI compatible. This is why it’ll have most, if not ALL of the features on the 16.
