    You are doing a nice job!I like how you figured the modified "V" bow with the laser.

      Thank you but I'll have to give credit to another TH-camr that built a 25 foot boat using that lazer technique.

    How much sheets of aluminum made this boat? Also can you advise the size (L x W) of the boat

    Is there any chance you could help me figure out how to measure the front? I need to figure out how to figure out the dead rise so I can make the semi v hull you have on this boat and I have no idea how to do it. I am trying to build it out of cardboard right now so I can get the measurements exact, before I spend money on materials.

      I didn’t use card board or any templates, it’s fairly easy to build as you go. Just start with the bottom. I have tacked 2 4x8 sheet to make 4x16 bottom to start. The at the front I cut down 5-6 feet ( I can’t remember exactly how much) after cutting, pick up the front and fold one over the other until you find you rise and v. Hold it in the position but hanging string to the ceiling and vise grip/ clamps. Next you take a laser level straight down the middle like in the video and trace the curve at the front . This line is on only on one of the halves . This need to be cut out and transferred over to the other side. I hope with this info and the video will help you

    Just curious, why did you decide to tig that instead or running a spool gun? I have both and someday want to build something similar but assumed the spool gun would be nicer for longer runs, but if you’re moving around to spread the heat out maybe it doesn’t matter? Either way it looks great!
    Edit: I see I didn’t watch far enough into the video. But I am curious as to why you chose to tack the long parts together with tig? Just trying to learn, thanks.

    • @dooryardfabrication3973
      @dooryardfabrication3973  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Main reason is didn't have an aluminum spool gun , the more expensive spool gun for 5356wire is over 1000$ can. I tried just installing aluminum wire in my mig gun but it only worked decent half the time, so when I could I would Tig. Tacking is easier with mig for sure and everything would've been quicker .

      @@dooryardfabrication3973 that makes sense, I noticed it was a just a mig gun not a spool gun. Thanks for the reply, I am really enjoying the series.

      "Ive heard" you are supposed to use the spool gun because mig will not warp the metal as much as tig, which makes sense! Tig is going to concentrate the heat more. I'm not a boat builder, just what I've got out of other videos? But great build, I would like to build my own boat one day, a big catfish cabin boat!

      @dooryardfabrication3973  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dred5375 for sure spool gun would've been better and quicker. Looking back I wish I just bought one. I've notice most good boat builders use pulse machines with a push pull gun, ideal but waaay out of my price range lol.
