    Chris, consider the actual contact patch of the new " flatter " Dunlop, and you may be able to sacrifice 10 m.m. in overall width, still have the same contact patch, but lighter weight !!!. Be BLESSED you're a good man the way you help subscribers.

  • @steveknecum944
    @steveknecum944 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Chris the Shinko looses hp the more you dyno it, if you do not heat the tire up it will pick up at least 6 more or more from the 180. Also just because the Shinko made say 10 hp less just from the tire it won't show that loss at the track. It just loses hp because the Shinko heats up and causes friction loses. The 1.5 lb lighter tire does not make 10 hp because its lighter its just has less friction on the drum. Show all the subscribers a real test. Idle the bike to get up the temp, and make 1 quick pull so the Shinko doesn't get real hot, I bet it makes 186 at least. Now keep dynoing the shinko and it will keep loosing power and sometimes if your not aware of those loses you chase the tune thinking somethings up when just the tire getting way to hot. I had a Busa that made 219 after it was on the dyno for some time getting some drivability tuning done, so the tire was super hot. I stopped, put a stock tire while keeping the bike on the dyno 15 mins later it picked up 29 hp. SAE perf in NY is my witness. I just don't think it a true comparison. Also both tires will be very close on the track.. Very close. The very high humidity low barometer day doesn't help either. By all means I'm not promoting the Shinko, I'd take the dragmax all day long. I use Q4s until the Dragmax comes out. Chris is it true that the Shinko Pro chunks more then the STD Shinko? Another thing on the test I did with the Busa making 219 then making 29 hp more with a stock tire, it will NOT pick up 29 hp on the track, NO WAY, that means my bike would pick up a bunch of MPH and it went close to the same MPH within a 2 mph. Please do this test because that's what you do for the all your subscribers. You mention we all ask for stuff, so I'm asking to do this. Thanks for all you do and sharing all your parts swapping results. Maybe do the coil stick swap!! Throttle body swaps!! How about swapping surface gap plugs to normal plugs?? Different spark plug gaps? Different exhaust systems?? I think the viewers would love to see that. Maybe some cam timing changes or even the whole bump stick. Yeah lets see that!!! Thanks for all you do and good job !!!

    • @thesuperstuff
      @thesuperstuff 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The true test is at the track. I'm guessing the trap speed is going to be very close. If these tires are going to cost $300 each that is crazy. You can pick up almost 3 hookups for that. The dragmax I think is really made for the guys who have hookup chunking problems. So this tire won't be beneficial to 95% of riders.

    • @LPFM28

      If shinko didn’t hook up
      Will that no hooking up appear on the dyno curves?

    • @steveknecum944
      @steveknecum944 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@LPFM28 no one said it won't hook up, its just that as the shinko gets hotter and hotter it keeps loosing power because its sticking to the dyno drum. I owned and exp this first hand.

    • @steveknecum944
      @steveknecum944 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@thesuperstuff The Shinko is the cheapest tire you can buy, it really only chunks on very high HP bikes. Its fine for the AVG stock bike. I just like using high quality parts because my life depends on my parts. if you can find say a Dunlop Q4 at a discount that would be approx. 75 more then a Shinko. But use what you like and can afford. But the loss on the dyno doesn't mean you loss the HP at the track. They dyno is just a tool, the track tells the real story. Another side note is different dynos read different even up to 20 hp.

    There has always been a better tire out there than the shinko ! Its called the Michelin pilot sport(power), 1, 2 or 3rd generation, its usually 3-4 pounds lighter, And can go higher speeds and is perfectly round ! Shinko are very square and notice that when you see a 250 mph car or more on the oval or land speed its Michelin or some other name band ! Shinko is the old Yokohama tire rebadged. Ask some late 70's and 80's bike drag racing guys ! Good test !

    Ok so, help me understand. Stock arms, stock gearing and stock wheel/tire got you 196, you then stretched it, changed the gearing and tire and you lost 16 HP going down to 180 and then by changing the tire again gave you back 12HP to get you up to 192? So, is the stock tire even lighter? Does the stretch affect the HP you get at the wheel? Gearing too? You're still 4HP down from the stock geometry, how does that work?

    Chris I've watched you dyno countless bikes. Why don't you let the bikes bump the limiter?

    Great video again. Spoken about wheels and tires: do you know a cheap, street legal alternative to these tires with BST's? Maybe a light weight metal.

    Chris can you elaborate what difference does it make going from a 190/55 to 190/50. How does it effect roll racing and how does it affect drag racing?

    • @killerkell113
      @killerkell113 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      A taller tire 55 vs 50 will slightly affect your gearing.
