Clarity was about the last Waves plugin I bought before I quit them (new PC and O/S, reinstalling all my software, discovered that most of my large Waves collection wouldn't work without me paying them more money and quite a lot more money at that). I wasn't much impressed with Clarity. Supertone Goyo came out at around the same time and for me seemed to work infinitely better. "Goyo" is now "Clear" and still my go-to for isolating vocals and deverbing. The Acon one is decent, I have that too and I trhink it's horses for courses. Extract has more precise controls while Clear is a kind of one-knob solution with an option to deverb as well. Greatr vid anyway, cheers : -)
Well done. Thanks for the video. In some ways, videos like this serve an opposite purpose and if you read between the lines, for people like me the takeaway ends up being, "yeah, technically, with a bunch of scattered tools from a bunch of other companies many of which are just as bad, if I spend a bunch of money and learn a bunch of new tools, most of which won't quite be able to do exactly that thing I love in the way I love doing it, but I technically COULD replace a lot of the tools I already own..."
FWIW, I use and love most of the alternatives that you suggest here, as well as many of the Waves ones. Personally, while I agree iZotope vocal synth is powerful and does many cool things Ovox can't, the opposite is also true. Ovax is not as flexible in the colors of the sounds it can produce, but the signal routing, FX engine, and cords scales systems are incredibly well thought out. For me, Ovox and MV-2 are about the only ones I can't find real alternatives for.
I'm not saying that all Waves plugins are bad, some of them are really good. My motivation to switch was most about pricing and updating policies, also about activation and licensing issues that happen with Waves quite a lot... Cheers!
I was tired of waves BS long before this recent threat of theirs.. I have never understood and never will understand the pursuit of those emulations. most of us haven't heard real hardwares, so plugin developers can tell us whatever they want and we'll just have to believe. not to mention the fact that even the same items can give a slightly different sound. Thanks for this video. I was actually just about to get a few Waves plugins. Almost got a bundle, because those were on sale. Subscription based software is the worst scam since micropayments. Any company doing these things is infected on management levels beyond help and only cares about draining you from your money. Music is just a hobby to me. Sometimes I don't touch things for months, so why would I want a subscription? It's a shame for the developers, as those are no doubt hard working good people making nice products. Now I'll just have to go for a good affordable vocoder. The only thing I have no direct affordable replacement for yet (that isn't mono).
