Made this the other day but with equal parts. Its delicious! The compari is so strong that dilution isn't something to fuss about. I actually put a ton of ice on mine. Kept me busy for an hour. Love this drink
Glad you like them! As for your question: Strictly speaking, a Negroni is made w/ Campari. You can make an Aperol Negroni, but it's going to taste different from the original since Aperol 1) is sweeter and less bitter than Campari, 2) has 1/3 the alcohol, and 3) tends to taste more orange/mandarin rather than woody/herbal. In short, and Aperol Negroni (if made correctly) can taste great, but will definitely be different than a regular ol' Negroni.
Neat typically refers to a undiluted shot of liquor served at room temperature. Up or Straight Up is usually used to describe a drink that is chilled with ice (shaken or stirred) and strained into a glass (typically a cocktail glass).
Jim you're great,I got your book, but I have to say that your method is pretty much american ,in Italy nobody would serve you a negroni in that way but built straight in a glass full of ice. Best regards and salute!
This is the best and I love it so much I’ve been inspired to create a “How not to” make this drink, it was so much fun but tasted horrible:) Not like this one I bet :) Awesome video
Me encanta el Negroni! pero.. a mi parecer y conocimiento de mi profesión son en partes iguales de cada una. Pero hoy día en el mundo de la cocteleria las cosas son mas flexibles! Saludos cordiales desde Argentina
Martini = Sweet Vermouth? Not as of now (2021). It's created differently to evade higher taxes for being a sweet vermouth. Now it's only called "Rossi". Many people say, it's a low end sweet vermouth compared to Carpano etc.
As it should be served, I'd say. Also, I find it too unbalanced to be called a Negroni, too much gin. I'm sure it's a great drink, but definitely not a Negroni... the standard Negroni has a 1:1:1 ratio, this is 2,7:1:1... cheers anyway.
Nice Negroni. Thank you for posting this interesting take on the classic Negroni drink.

Finished product looks delicious here. Love the Negroni.

Can you use Aperol instead of Campari? Thanks, great videos!
Where did you get that vest? It's great.
It isn't a martini if there's no vermouth. It's just vodka.
+sisbrawny gin*
+ftlptba I know, but he said "dry vodka martini". The only true martini is with gin though.
sisbrawny the only true martini is the martini the customer wants ;p (real world) even though i agree the classic is with gin
