yay, thats the way i always want em too, (extra gin, less vermouth) glad to know I'm not alone and perhaps in good company. kinda subtly hilarious that he still just says 3rd each time when he clearly isnt. Never done it with a big ol wedge of orange tho, always just a peel, I'll have to try it his way
I don't think he's paying any attention at all to proportions, nor to the way he gets ice into the glass. He knows it's all a goof. Well, except for the admonishment about orange slices. I think he's serious about that.😁
In the same vein, Winston Churchill famously said that the only proper way to make a martini was to add the gin to the ice, then (for the vermouth part) simply bow in the direction of France.
Man, I usually don't get upset over losing celebs, but he seemed to do his own thing to bring us life, culture, history, etc, through food. RIP you'll be missed
""Eat at a local restaurant tonight. Get the cream sauce. Have a cold pint at 4 o’clock in a mostly empty bar. Go somewhere you’ve never been. Listen to someone you think may have nothing in common with you. Order the steak rare. Eat an oyster. *Have a Negroni. Have two.* Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check in on your friends. Check in on yourself. Enjoy the ride. " - Anthony Bourdain
nah he knows how he likes it, just tastes better with extra gin and less vermouth, but as long as you still say its 3rd each you can bend the sanctity of the recipe 😄
Try to find as small a bottle of campari as you can, cuz this drink really is an acquired taste and campari will run you about 30 bucks a bottle in the US.
R.I.P Tony! Here is a Negroni for you! 🥃😢 once again made no reservations! So sad that he is gone! Over the years I have learned so much from him! He will be missed for sure! 😢😢
I just ordered this drink because of Tony! Thanks, Tony, that "satanic, delicious Hell-broth" was really good. Rest in power...with a Negroni in your hand!
Ohhh Anthony! You don't know how much you're missed. You are such a treasure, and your parting was an immense loss. Life would be so much better with you around still. Thank you for the endless entertainment, the laughter, and all your wise words. You had so much great advice to everyone. It is so very sad you couldn't save yourself. R.I.P. Even though I don't drink for the last five years, I think I'm just going to make a Negroni in your honor. I liked Campari in the past and would drink it with grapefruit juice always.
Love Anthony. Such a real guy. Just started drinking Negroni. Recipe is 1-1/2 oz gin and 3/4oz each Campari and SV. I will try Anthony’s n measuring just pour straight from bottle of equal parts. I add a couple shakes of orange bitters but will try w/o. It is straight booze so I agree no more than two drinks.
even tho he says "equal" measurements he is clearly doing way more gin, and way less vermouth. I like em better that way too, but most recipes say 1 to 1 to 1, so I think he's just saying it for tradition. I have seen a few recipes spec it like yours though, but i think its less common
Stock Sweet Vermouth Rosso (Italy) seems like the vendor of the sweet vermouth used. They seem to have intentionally taped/obscured the vendor labeling on the bottle (e.g., tape over neck of bottle).
Everything he says , is true . First sip is like … wth … second … I see … third … may I have another please . Such a great sipper , one of my all time favourites … along with the jungle bird 🎉
RIP Tony we lost you but we aint gonna forget you...so sad ending for such a charachter of a human being...i just hope he drinks his negroni in some other world, chilling and resting...Bye man!!!😢😢😢
Dead nuts right about it’s appeal. First taste wasn’t good, but intriguing. Bottom of the glass was delish. Tonight will be a two drink night I think. Thanks AB
The only person in the world to ever make a Negroni ( let alone any cocktail ) without a Jigger or any kind of measurement. But fuck it. Who's counting eh !!! Miss this man so much.
Man he added way more than an ounce of each. I bet he got tanked that night! lol I put 3/4 oz of lemon juice in mine along with the orange slice. I call it a "half-assed Negroni sour" (Han Solo). ;o)
I'm just now finding out my cultural idol shares my favorite cocktail. I miss him a lot more now. I've always felt odd for being so devastated by the death of someone I didn't know. I didn't feel this way about Kurt Cobain, Ronald Reagan, Freddy Mercury, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, etc. Just Bourdain.

I love how his "3rd" of gin is waaaay more than the other ingredients. We miss you Tony!
And his third of sweet vermouth is more of a couple splashes

RIP Tony. Hope you have an endless supply of Negronis. Cheers!
Endlessly looking for his pants and wondering who the hell she is? Don't know about that.
Out of all of his videos, I find myself coming back to this one a lot. It's weird how you can miss someone you've never even met.
Man, I usually don't get upset over losing celebs, but he seemed to do his own thing to bring us life, culture, history, etc, through food. RIP you'll be missed
well said
Same. I’m British but I wept my eyes out!
I love how he takes a second to try and use the tongs, but quickly thinks "fuck it" and grabs the ice with his hands.

I want to lead that kind of life... maybe in a few yrs when I get rid of oops.
That quote is fake 😢 sorry
@@pymebonesfake?
@@kai326 yup. It's not a real quote by Anthony Bourdain, even though it's written in his style
Tony gives no fucks about measurements lmao
I love it
nah he knows how he likes it, just tastes better with extra gin and less vermouth, but as long as you still say its 3rd each you can bend the sanctity of the recipe 😄
We miss you already
I’m going to buy the ingredients and have a drink in your honour Tony!
Was your Negroni delicious?
Try to find as small a bottle of campari as you can, cuz this drink really is an acquired taste and campari will run you about 30 bucks a bottle in the US.
Made this drink for my son's 21st birthday at his request. Not my favorite. But did I drink it all? Yes yes I did.
Forgot it was Tony that got me hooked on Negronis
Miss this guy. This dude was Steve McQueen Cool!
We will always love you Anthony Bourdain🙏🏼
Huge fan, man did an amazing job at showing us a lot of different and lovely cultures. He will be missed.
R.I.P Tony! Here is a Negroni for you! 🥃😢 once again made no reservations! So sad that he is gone! Over the years I have learned so much from him! He will be missed for sure! 😢😢
We miss you man, keeping you in our thoughts every single day that goes on
Miss ya Anthony. Cheers.
It was in Florence, not Venice. I only know this because I'm a huge Negroni fan. And I'm only a huge Negroni fan because of Anthony Bourdain.
Melissa Watson hi
love those 3 alcohols by itself, and the combination just blows my mind.
Bravo, Tony! We love and miss you.
This guy was a treasure of humanity
yesss! far more that just cooking and food...
I just ordered this drink because of Tony! Thanks, Tony, that "satanic, delicious Hell-broth" was really good. Rest in power...with a Negroni in your hand!
So true! First sip, I think, oh god, what was I thinking? Second sip, it’s bearable. Third sip, I’m already planning a second.
Absolutely a class act!!! He'll always be my favorite.......
RIP Tony. This guy was my hero

RIP. I miss you Tony. I hope your glass is always full
My favourite cocktail of all time. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't because of him. R.i.p. Tony
I’ve always loved his “ measuring method “
He’s missed so very much 😢
had my 1st ever negroni just a few months ago, and I'm 40🤦♂️ ... still thanks to this guy. cheers to you AB
Miss this fella ! Legendary

Miss this guy on TV. RIP

THIS guy is classy
I've never had one of those moments of "where'd my pants go and who the hell are you?" Off to buy supplies. Maybe tonight's the night!
How did the night go?
Fuck up with the hipster shit
For summer 2020 I would go out drinking w/ a bottle of Gin, Vermouth and Campari. Wild nights. Wild nights.
Does anybody know which brand of Sweet Vermouth he used in this video?
It looks like an old bottle of red noilly prat
These are great for Summer ☀️Have to use Cinzano and Campari 🇮🇹 RIP Anthony...
Ahhhhh Mr. BOURDAIN.... You are very missed on TV 😎✌
I'm gonna tear up whenever I make these
LOL at the end!
Liza Piza Me too. LOL
Whenever I forget whether or not it's sweet vermouth or dry vermouth, I always end up looking up this video. Good info, good chuckles.
Everything he says , is true . First sip is like … wth … second … I see … third … may I have another please .
Such a great sipper , one of my all time favourites … along with the jungle bird 🎉
Rip absolute legend
Yum... I get it ...but my date the other night hated it and would not take a 2nd sip. I also love Tony B.
I really miss this guy.
2024! miss you, Tony!
I prefer the Americano personally. But I like mine with dry vermouth.
Wisest words!
🍹🥂 Cheers to you Anthony🌠
Happy birthday, Tony.
RIP Tony we lost you but we aint gonna forget you...so sad ending for such a charachter of a human being...i just hope he drinks his negroni in some other world, chilling and resting...Bye man!!!😢😢😢
i worship this man
“Ah, that’s good”. Anthony, I say the same thing with every Negroni I drink. Easy to make - consistently awesome at any bar around the world.
This is lies. Be ashamed of yourself, Kevin. You'd be hard pressed to get a decent Negroni at an average neighborhood bar in an average US town.
I made one of these a few days ago thanks to this man. 10/10 drink
Just made and had my first Negroni ever, cheers AB!
Dead nuts right about it’s appeal. First taste wasn’t good, but intriguing. Bottom of the glass was delish. Tonight will be a two drink night I think. Thanks AB
Miss you Tony
I shall hav a night of drinking with him on my way to parts unknown... no reservation but definitely a trip of my lifetime 😊 bcnu Anthony!
RIP to the best of us
We miss you!!!
I FUCKIN CANNOT BELIEVE YOU ARE GONE I FUCKIN LOVE YOU ANTHONY
The only person in the world to ever make a Negroni ( let alone any cocktail ) without a Jigger or any kind of measurement.
But fuck it. Who's counting eh !!!
Miss this man so much.
RIP we miss you.
I miss you sooooo much! I'm allergic to gin. May try with vodka not that you care. You are beyond care and I think I may cry again
You can try a variation of this with whiskey instead of gin. It is called a boulevardier.
A thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiird of gin. Love you Tony.
We say “three’s the limit” in our family 😅
Miss you
RIP
We miss you Tony.
R.I.P Hero.
Had one Negroni (my first) tonight -I get it...
Thanks chef
having one right now,r.i.p tony
God I miss this guy...
I’ve never sipped a negroni and thought, “This tastes like a Caipirinha.”
Simple an genial❤
Being human is the only option and not the easiest. RIP and cheers!
3 it is then
I miss this guy.
God I miss him.
Thank you chef
FUCKIN LEGEND... I miss u Tony!
Tony Bourdain! RIP you national treasure!
That third "third" was more like a ninth than a third
the best
Man he added way more than an ounce of each. I bet he got tanked that night! lol I put 3/4 oz of lemon juice in mine along with the orange slice. I call it a "half-assed Negroni sour" (Han Solo). ;o)
looks great
That's NOT how a bartender makes negroni but I am all for it yay! and RIP Tony.
I add a little fernet branca to mine and a splash of seltzer
Ooh, gonna have to try that. Also heard of some people adding a dash of bálsamic vinegar.
You might want to use a measuring cup. Pouring right from the bottle is just random and inaccurate.
Anthony is the man!
The creator of Campari did not create the Negroni. He created the Milano-Turino / Americano. Thanks Anthony.
Rip Tony
I like this man’s math
That’s how alcoholics prepare their drink 😂
... and create all sorts of mayhem :)
Milan, darling. Not Venice.
We miss you
whats the last drink he poured? can someone please tell me.
Richard Li sweet vermouth

Sweet vermouth e.g. Martini Rosso.
