Man, I’m certainly an amateur whiskey drinker but your breakdown is EXACTLY my experience with the 10-year. It was great and I like that smoky oak flavor a lot. Besides caramel it’s my favorite flavor in a whiskey. So I’d rate the flavors one point higher and the nose one point higher, but other than that it’s so good to hear that my own personal notes are the same as an experienced person like yourself. Also, this video makes me happy as a Bulleit fanboy 😂

Bulleit has never been my favorite but I just opened a bottle of the 10. I still have a 12 year rye I have left to open. I agree on the dry oak and the nose on this is very rye fruity to me. It translates to the taste for a second but is replaced by a bitterness. As I sip it it’s growing on me and the finish goes on for days which is nice and expected from something 10 years. Cheers
I get on the nose vanilla, oak, caramel, and cream. The tasting notes are oak and vanilla with a rye spice oak Smokey finish. I quite like this and am enjoying each sip more and more. I need to pick up a couple more bottles of this one.
Sourced from 4 roses seems to be the general consensus ! Which would seem pretty logical as you pointed out. Tastes pretty similar to 4 roses to me ! The bulliet 10 yr and the blenders select are the only expressions i care for not really a fan of the rest of the lineup. By the way that was a interesting and entertaining pronunciation of lagavulin ! I so hope someone from the distillery watches this i would love to see their reaction. Would be hysterical.

Bulleit has been around longer than 2019 sir. I visited their distillery just outside of Louisville I believe in 2014 or 2015 before they moved to Shelbyville. They opened the visitor center in 2019.
I've not had the 10 year - whenever I've had sufficient cash money, I've wound up getting something else. But I like the regular orange label Bulleit. Criteria is the plural - the singular is criterion. 🙂
Bulleit 10 yr for me is my baseline for Bourbon.. i know many say Buffalo Trace but I like Bulleit more, i think it captures everthing I think of when I think Typical Bourbon... for me it has more sweetness and honey vanilla notes thand BT. BT to me just isn't as complex, but neither is very complex but both are what I'd call The Prototypical American Bourbon i just personally Prefer Bulleit to BT. Great job.
That's an interesting take to me as someone who's really new to bourbon. I haven't had Bulleit 10 year before, but I think now I find even Buffalo Trace a bit sweet for my taste. I typically prefer a more dry, oak-y taste with more subtle notes of sweetness and vanilla for my bourbon now, so I was a bit excited to hear his review of this one. But I do also feel very intrigued that you feel the Bulleit 10 year to be a bit sweeter than Buffalo given this review. Either way, I think I might have to find myself a bottle of this stuff and see for myself what all the noise is about haha.

Mister TJ, what do you say about their regular bourbon, not 10yo? I'm trying it now. Not the best flavor-aroma bomb, I've experienced, but very solid bourbon, and, yes, I can feel rye coming through. It gives it an interesting expression of rye-bourbon. Vanilla and caramel of bourbon combined with pepper and mint of rye.
Hey man gota question I ventured out and wanted to get my first bottle and at the bar I work at we sell glenlevet 12 and I loved the way it smelled so I picked up a bottle I don't like it neat what can I do to make it better? And do burbons taste better? Idk if I like scotch as much what is a good bourbon to buy. A store near me has blantons would that be good for a beginner? Or what's a good aged bourbon
Buffalo trace or four roses small batch is what i usually recommend to people who want to try bourbon, they're both at a relatively low proof as well to get you used to the burn you experience, when you drink more however you won't feel it the more you sip and you eventually get used to it after a while when you revisit.
Also blantons is good but usually overpriced, not worth if over 50$ imo, and to answer if bourbon tastes better. Bourbon is usually less harsh than scotch, with more sweeter flavours and notes like caramel/fruit/brown sugar, bourbon also tastes oaky and spicy.
Have you tried Bulleit Rye and what is your opinion on that, would you recommend it? Which one would you pick out of these two? Buffalo Trace or Bulleit Rye? :)
According to their website they started in 1987 and built a new distillery in 2017. I had some of this about 8 months ago and it did seem very oaky to start with but after a while a lot of that went away. I do think I like Russel's Reserve 10Y better.
My man, I love your channel, but you mispronounced the hell out of my favorite Scotch. Lagavulin is pronounced, phonetically, Log-ah-vool-in. Other than, always good stuff.
VA ABC is 54$ it is pushing the envelope at that price.. its not that good. Great Video. Tin Cup 10 yr is cheaper and tastes better all around. Also.. looking around the shelves.. at that price for aged 10 years.. Glenmorangie The Original 10 Year Scotch is 43$ way way way better than any bourbon at that age and price point.
Back in 90- 91 Keen's Chop House in NYC poured small snifters of 1963 vintage Glen Morangie for $15. To this day it remains the single greatest whisky I have EVER tried. The good old days they are long gone.

I thought Bulleit was made by MGP. I know some websites say it's distilled in Illinois/Indiana.
