I don't care what the critics say. This movie is amazing. The technology, cgi, and de aging stuff might be a little dated now, but it still looks good. And it's a shame Daft Punk never got an award for their work in this.
It's really good, they kind of leave a lot open but that's because they were planning on making a trilogy, or at the very least a sequel. I think a lot of the effects still hold up today, I think it's to do with the set design and lighting. They designed real sets to overlay CGI on top of it. It's nice when creatives recognize that we need something tangible to feel anything. (George Lucas and the Prequels are still AWFUL.) The de-aging stuff was ahead of its time and is very noticable. It was noticeable then, it's even more so now.

Andrew and John need to do a buddy cop movie comedy. The thing I love about Tron Legacy is that this film shows how tech advanced from the first and the next one will show how things have advanced from this film. The facial cgi tech now is miles ahead of where this film was, much cleaner, much tighter, more realistic. I wanted a Tron suit so bad when this movie hit, I almost made one from a wetsuit and bmx biker armor. It’s cool that the Tron Uprising the cartoon gives more about what happened on the grid after this movie, a new evil rises up to take Clu’s place but I don’t know if it’s canon. Tron survives the fall and starts a rebellion but he’s damaged, Clu really f’cked him up,. He has a permanent degradation of his program that manifests as a slow derezz of his body, he recruits Elijah Woods to be the new Tron, a beacon to bring the population to the rebellion and he trains him. The culling of the Isos is covered in the cartoon, so we get to see that she’s not the “only” survivor, some got away and are out there in the wilderness. It was good but Disney didn’t support it like they should have and it ended too quick. I love this movie, I saw the first one four years before I graduated high school and it was ground breaking, I can’t only imagine what the next film will bring to the table, hopefully Flynn lives 😎
When they say that Seconds in the Real Worlds is days in The Grid, you realize that for Flynn, he's been trapped for closer to 2000 years from his perspective.
Fun fact, I seen this movie 6 times in theater. Once with my mom, then my dad, then twice with my best friend. And twice by myself. I also own the special edition on Bluray that came with a light up LED disc and I believe the first movie.
Yes the laser trick does work on lower grade cameras. I work for a security company and have had customers call me wanting to switch because their house was broken into and cameras messed up with a laser. I doubt however that a company like ENCOM would use these cheap cameras lol.
One thing I like is when Sam came into the real world at the end and meets Alan, Alan is standing in front of the Defender, the video game that really got me into video games way back in the day.

This moive actually help developed the modern LED stripes and defuser materials for the costumes as they were having problems with larger LEDS being to noticeable so they had to go smaller with more of them to get a nice solid glow. 5:56 - Different character. Lora (Cindy Morgan's character from the first film) married Alan sometime after the events of the first film (and though she is not present in the film, she was in the Flynn Lives ARG, having shared the stage with Alan during the San Francisco Comic Con event that was staged there. In fact, if you look up "flynn lives, san francisco comic con", you'll find the two part video for the Encom press conference set up for it). After the events of the first film, Flynn met and married a woman name Jordan Canas. She is mostly discussed in the Flynn Lives ARG. She was an architect and designed the ENCOM Tower seen in the film. I think she was also present in the Marvel Comics tie-in TRON: Betrayal. Jordan died in a car crash in 1985, leaving Flynn widowed and Sam without a mom. She was portrayed by Amy Esterle (mostly seen in pictures in the ARG and seen briefly in footage in the film). The Flynn Lives ARG was pretty awesome at world building (and sets it up where the reason why CLU's page to Alan's pager was due to the Flynn Lives group reconnecting a telephone line to Flynn's Arcade), and I think there's still some videos about the ARG (I know that some footage of the ARG was used in the short film TRON: The Next Day, which was meant to set up the third TRON film that was in the works before Disney killed it. The third film in production now may not have any connection to T:L, and Bruce Boxleitner outright stated that he wasn't going to come back for any TRON related projects due to Disney throwing TRON fans under the bus for Star Wars. This was back when Disney had purchased LucasFilms, so it's hard to know if Bruce has had a change of heart or not). ADDITIONAL EDIT: The Grandpa is also known as Doc Cottle from Battlestar Galactica (2003, 2004-2009). ADDITIONAL EDIT 2: Yes, there is a video game tie-in. It's called TRON: Evolution. It tells the story of the night Flynn went to the Grid after the opening scene, and details CLU's betrayal and wiping out the ISOs. Olivia Wilde reprises her role in the game (and you play the System Monitor, who is the program that saved her that she mentions in the film).
33:18 there was actually a video game tie in to this movie! It was meant as a prequel of events before Legacy and from what I remember it gave a little more lore into the ISOs and details about CLUs betrayal. Although I don’t remember if it was good or bad it’s been a long time.
You might be talking about Tron Legacy which came out several years before this movie. The game was great, though! Watching this reaction made me want to replay it.
When the movie works, characters and visuals and sound come together, sync up and create an unbelievable, almost magical cinematic rhythm unlike anything.
It's wild to me this is 14 years old, I was just about that age when I saw this in theaters and would pay to see a continuation in a heartbeat.. I still listen to this soundtrack every so often
So glad y'all got to watching Legacy! It's my favorite movie of all time and is a constant source of creative inspiration in my life. The lack of world-exploration y'all were talking about concerning Quorra actually gets fairly fleshed out in the Uprising series! I highly recommend watching it if y'all want to learn more about the goings-on inside the Grid. Plus, it's an absolutely STUNNING animated series scored by the same composer as Legacy, Joseph Trapanese (who often gets overlooked concerning TRON.) Fair warning, it ends on a cliffhanger as Disney sabotaged its release schedule and cancelled any further seasons (for now!)
Disney is going back to Tron now that Star Wars and Marvel are struggling financially. Tron Legacy didn't get a sequel because Disney had just acquired Star Wars, which replaced the need for Tron. I really hope Tron 3 isn't just a cash grab, but actually has a compelling story/characters, groundbreaking visuals, and music like this movie.
Fun fact DAFT PUNK is the entire soundtrack from start of the movie to the end literally Sam escaping the police it’s daft punk playing and in the games also
There was a Tron: Evolution game for 360 & PS3 and the Multiplayer was awesome Disney also produced a cartoon, set before the movie, called Tron Uprising and it's so underrated
Gotta say, for a long time I’d only thought of James Frain (the henchman) as an actor who plays villains. Then I saw him as Sarek on Star Trek: Discovery. He was pretty good as a Vulcan
Jesus christ, like I get you guys wanting to have your own unique commentary but why is it always just making fun of these movies cranked up to 10? It is off-putting.
I was 7 when "Tron" came out, and I love these films! I never listen to the critics, because the critics don't know shit! This has allowed me watch some amazing, under the radar, awesome films and really enjoy them. I enjoyed this reaction Guys! ❤
I saw this movie in 3D in middle school and it was one of the most fun movie-going experiences I have ever had. I secretly hope they fix the CG and re-release it in theaters because I just think it’s so much fun.
I was so hyped for this movie when it was coming out. Went to see it in theaters. And loved the absolute crap out of it. I never understood why it got so much hate. Also the cartoon that had Elijah Wood as the lead voice was so so so good. It has some of the backstory and world building you’re looking for. Like the origin of the ISOs
I am a huge fan of the original. When this came out, I remember seeing it in theaters. At the time, the de-aging was incredible for that time. We didn't really see that kind of CGI at the time. Sure, now it looks incredible today what they can do, but this was awesome when it came out. Aside from the de-aging, I think the entire world inside the computer was amazing looking! We'll see what the next one is going to be like with Leto.
He didn’t know what he was doing in the secret room in the arcade. He was pressing buttons and answering prompts to see what it was. The whole part where he was surprised to be on the grid was because it was indeed a surprise. And his dad didn’t just tell him that story once. The posters. Toys. Video game. It was well known pop culture and what his dad was known for.
Honestly, the more I watch this movie the more I love it. The father/son relationship really gets to me. Much more emotional than people give it credit for.
It's kinda mad how long it's taken to get the third movie (it's been in development since this movie was released), but they have actually now started principle photography on it within the last few months. TBH I think this movie is kinda underrated, the Bridges CGI is a complex problem - when it was released it actually looked pretty good, but it's aged poorly, but outside the flashbacks where it's actually Clue it's kinda fine, there are all sorts of reasons you can retcon why it doesn't look great. I listen to the soundtrack for this literally all the time, it's great to play Dota to :p In re games and the franchise, there's actually been lots over the years but Tron: Evolution is the one, I never played it, I'm not sure many people did :p NGL I could totally see the universe working as an MMORPG if done right.
I really liked Garrett Hedlund in Four Brothers. I’m not sure whether I really liked the movie or if I just liked it for the actors who played the four brothers. I also think he was great in Eragon, doing what he could with the material.
I think this is one of those movies where you can easily say that it is a GOOD movie. Not perfect or great. Not bad or horrible. Just, good. For me it's kinda like The Core. Something I wouldn't mind watching once or twice a month.
There is a fairly short series called Tron Uprising starring Elijah Wood. I think you guys would enjoy reacting to it or watching it on your own time. It really gives us a fantastic glimpse into what it's like to live on the grid.

Also at the time it had the record for the most foam suits made for a movie
This movie still holds up till date despite the wacky de-aging and CGI. Daft Punk killed it. So good.
I feel like I'm tripping from the CGI everytime I see Clu..Trinity....Help!!!😂😂
@@Ass4ssinX it was called Tron Evolution I think actually. It’s the only Tron game I know of anyway.
When the movie works, characters and visuals and sound come together, sync up and create an unbelievable, almost magical cinematic rhythm unlike anything.
It is truly a shame how this series has remained untouched throughout the years.
It's wild to me this is 14 years old, I was just about that age when I saw this in theaters and would pay to see a continuation in a heartbeat.. I still listen to this soundtrack every so often
Thank fuck that there’s talks about a 3rd gonna be in development. Can’t wait to see what happens
I really hope its a sequel to legacy and no some reboot or random story starring Jared Leto. Hope it stays connected.
Fun fact DAFT PUNK is the entire soundtrack from start of the movie to the end literally Sam escaping the police it’s daft punk playing and in the games also
Until They Broke Up In 2021
@@Kovy2003 you had to remind me :(
54:32 Damn you John.... I WAS DRINKING!
Rinzler/Tron looks like Snake Eyes.🤩
There was a Tron: Evolution game for 360 & PS3 and the Multiplayer was awesome Disney also produced a cartoon, set before the movie, called Tron Uprising and it's so underrated
Gotta say, for a long time I’d only thought of James Frain (the henchman) as an actor who plays villains. Then I saw him as Sarek on Star Trek: Discovery. He was pretty good as a Vulcan
The “I aint a part of this system. I’m an adult” cot me off guard and made me relive a memory I had long forgotten. Thanks
I always get goosebumps when Tron turns back to blue.
You're guys gonna watch Tron Uprising animated series, it's a best TV series ever after Tron Legacy!👍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
There's reacting and then there's non stop blabbering... They are not the same.
2:45 Incredible! Absolutely incredible! Love this Disney opening with Tron! 🙏🏽💪
Jesus christ, like I get you guys wanting to have your own unique commentary but why is it always just making fun of these movies cranked up to 10? It is off-putting.
The envy to be able to watch this for the first time again, you are lucky
I was 7 when "Tron" came out, and I love these films! I never listen to the critics, because the critics don't know shit! This has allowed me watch some amazing, under the radar, awesome films and really enjoy them. I enjoyed this reaction Guys! ❤
I saw this movie in 3D in middle school and it was one of the most fun movie-going experiences I have ever had. I secretly hope they fix the CG and re-release it in theaters because I just think it’s so much fun.
31:08 bro really used the hard r
"I fight for the users" - The only way to make the movie popular
25:40 Mordecai and Rigby...
Visually and musically it is just a masterpiece.
Daft Punk Did Amazing Score and They Also Made Thier Cameo
I was so hyped for this movie when it was coming out. Went to see it in theaters. And loved the absolute crap out of it. I never understood why it got so much hate.
Also the cartoon that had Elijah Wood as the lead voice was so so so good. It has some of the backstory and world building you’re looking for. Like the origin of the ISOs
Clu, the rizzler himself, coming in with the walk of drip. Absolutely legendary.
Toys. Video game. It was well known pop culture and what his dad was known for.
grew up watching the original cause of my dad and of this and love this one and love when Tron comes back and say's he fights for the user
Criminally underrated movie! Never got its flowers when it was released, never tire of watching this
Soundtrack Album For Daft Punk Is Banger Tune
that aarp joke at 54:35 XD
Tron Legacy is way better than it is given credit for!
This movie was so ahead of its time
I really liked Garrett Hedlund in Four Brothers.
Now give Andrew a Pacific Rim reaction!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Really surprised me that this was never an MMO. The setting seems perfect for one, especially around the era of the amazing animated show they did.
There is a fairly short series called Tron Uprising starring Elijah Wood. I think you guys would enjoy reacting to it or watching it on your own time. It really gives us a fantastic glimpse into what it's like to live on the grid.
I remember when my dad took me to watch this in the theaters when this first released years ago, simpler times man
I STILL listen to this soundtrack.
I don't understand why this movie didn't do well in theaters. I was fortunate to be able to watch this movie in IMAX 3D and was blown away.
