    Thank you for the tutorial. Have new 13 pro max, and have Scaniverse and Polycam free. Those work well. Metascan does look more useful for making an importable file for blender, that includes texture maps. Love the AR mode in Scaniverse. The way it scales and assigns perspective to object is amazing. Metascan and the grids looks useful. Would like to be able to import an object to the app for AR. Haven't figured out how to do that.

      @@fullyleaded You can import scanned object, in obj fbx format to Blender . I wanted to send a model created with Blender back to the phone app to use for AR. Put the model into a picture just using the phone. So far I find the folder for a couple of the apps, but can't get the Blender model to go into the app folder. There has to be a way, but I have not figured how to do it.

    Thanks for sharing. I'd be very curious to see how well the lidar scanner (with photo) works on wildlife tracks in snow and soft ground. Animal tracks such as dogs, cats, deer, or larger animals, would be really cool to see!

    Thank you for sharing! Very useful video! I'm wondering if you tried more recent, photogrammetry with RealityScann versus Metscan and what are your conclusions? I used RealityScann a lot and the waiting times for clouds procesing can be up to a 30min. I would happly try a new scaning app.

      I like the guided tool of reality scan but I find metascan or polycam easier to use.

    • @acsomiT
      @acsomiT ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I now tried Metascane - photogrammetry, and I got better, and faster results then with RealityScann. My objects were quite demanding, polished - reflective, straight, edges and faces and with small details. I was impressed. On top of that, rendering time in their cloud, around 5min. I love it. Im gonna stick with this app for a while :).

    Just wondering if you used a turntable for the photo mode models? Also, it possible to take scans of the top and bottom of an object and merge them together? Thanks

    • @MicroSingularity
      @MicroSingularity  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I do use a turntable sometimes and works really well but not necessary. Metascan has a mode called mask object which lets you image all sides of the object so you don’t have to do any merging

    Too bad you didn't show a single mesh but only meshes with the photo mapped onto them. I've seen many photo-mapped models that look fantastic until you remove the photo part and it reveals a disappointingly low-res mesh. For knowing how useful Metascan might be for 3d printing that would be the most important thing--mesh resolution relative to the source object (it would be particularly interesting to see how it can do on people's faces/busts, if it can match what one can get e.g. with Agisoft Metashape, which would be mm or sub-mm with a set of photos done with a 50mm lens).

    Can the app combine both lidar and photogrammetry in one scan session? Like a hybrid mode (best of both worlds scenario)? Hahaha hopefully that made sense. But just curious. I know you can separately scan an object in both modes and then combine the data in a cad or modeling software but it would be a better workflow and provide more accurate results if it combined the two for those who have the newest iphones and ipads
