It was always on network TV every weekend, ESPN and USA Network every week with title fights, contenders fighting contenders, and fighting up and coming prospects. The guys fought often. 7 times a year unlike today where these many belt holders fight once every seven months or less. That’s why a lot of people lost interest. The politics and promoters with their cherry picking.

Alexis Arguello is a legend, RIP. What Arguello meant when he said i am not American, he meant i was not born in the USA. People in Latin America refer to people from the USA as the only Americans, but if people take the time to learn a little bit of geography they would learn that there two American contienents, North America which start in Greenland all the way to Panama and then South America going South Colombia, Venezuela, Brasil etc. So people make comments out of ignorance, anybody born in North or South America is an American 100%. Unfortunately, his fear came through, he got killed many many years later by the Sandinistas, when he threaten to come clean on the election results that had him elected vice mayor of Managua. Thought they still claim it was a suicide... yeah,... gun shot to the chest, fell backwards, but had a broken nose... funny, they had a statue ready to erect downtown Managua in no time... just saying... I actually had the chance to meet the champion when I was 15 years old. My aunt called a bar hi used to own in Managua and ask if Alexis was there and if he could wait as there was someone whom wanted to meet him... Like if I was the celebrity... he waited over an our and I got so shake his hand and pose like a pre-match for a picture. This was back in 1996

Arguello was a great fighter. Being Nicaraguense myself, I feel proud that this boxeador was from my hometown. In this video Alexis was preparing to fight the mother fucker of Aaron Pryor who was dope or drug to withstand the vergazos Alexis threw. The piece of shit of Panama Lewis was the culprit of this cheating. " Remember the bottle, the one that he mixed." They took the four tittle away from the great Alexis Arguello by cheating. That was unfortunately for Alexis because he was going to make history on that fight. RIP, mi campeon.
