After about 8 months and 9,000 miles of ownership, I wanted to get my 2024 Ford F-150 Raptor R on video to give y'all an honest update/review. Long story short, the thing has been amazing! That doesn't mean I haven't noticed a couple things here and there so I figured I'd talk about it all. Thanks for watching!
The roof only closes half way when you press the button. This is intentional as often rear occupants want shade while front occupants want sun. As a guy with kids, this is an appreciated feature.
For exhaust sound, to bump it up, try using the V6 Raptor tailpipe sections. They don’t have the resonated tips, or rear resonators. Can find some take offs from marketplace possibly and it’ll give you closer to the GT500 sound without significant modification.
The shade stopping in the middle before going all the way to open or closed is normal across all f-series models unfortunately, was one of the most frequent complaints we got at the dealership I used to work at. Also, to fix the turn signal issue I would recommend a clock spring replacement.
Fresh breath of air to hear honest reviews! Thanks! Cons you listed are pretty much all f150 "issues". You face the same things even if you have an XLT or Platinum since they all share the same parts and software. Though, then again... None of those models are rocking 700+ hp. Problem I always face with raptors are the tires... It's like the truck is begging for some PSS for the road but the whole point is offroad so I am loving my ko3s! You'll enjoy the RR, I am having a blast with it as a DD (traded the f150, side note... RR is also faster than the f150 raptor non-R with the Ford tune), just assume the backseat is basically a mustang/camaro backseat compared to the f150...
Great vid! 2023 Raptor EB here. Had it since April and absolutely LOVE it! Just an off-roader like no other (the entire Raptor family). Ford has done an awesome job marketing as well (over Ram). When people hear Raptor, they immediately know what it is and what it can do. And, love your humbleness, brother! 🤙🏼 Edit: just noticed you don’t have the red stripe on the steering wheel. Did they do away with that in 2024s?
Thank you for the kind words! And yes sir, for some reason the 24s+ lost the red stripe. But just for the F150 raptors, not the Ranger or bronco Raptors.
What you did with the decals is perfect! I'd love the R, but I'm leaning regular Raptor, possibly the 37 package. Am considering a Tremor or Platinum, and doing a level/lift and adding 35 tires and a bit of poke after market. The Platinum would let me get the Powerboost, while the Tremor has a little narrower width & higher payload than the Raptor. But I just love the Raptor, darn it. A QUESTION: What kind of mpg could you squeeze out of the R on a long distance highway drive, taking care to drive evenly and any appropriate adjustments? How about with the Regular Raptor with the 37 package, any idea about that too? 13/14 mpg around town, not a big deal, but those long road trips are another matter. Would love that buttery smooth highway drive.
Great video...do you love it enough to buy another one couple years down the road...or is this a one and done type vehicle? Own a 2021 GEN3 EcoBoost and I'm on the fence for ordering an R
Pro tip: drop your tire psi below 42 when off-roading my man! 🤣. If you ever wanna wheel with us on the East coast, give us a shout! Would be cool to do a TRX vs. R video collab 🤘🤘
First mod i am doing is the whipple 3.8. I have been talking to whipple and confirmed it is a tune file from ford, the shift points are raised to a little over 7k rpm and the speed limiter raised to 135. Bolt on 200 wheel hp minimum!!
With the added weight in the front how does it compare vs the eco boost for offroading? Part of me feels a EB with a tune can narrow the power gap a decent amount, and still get somewhat decent mpg 😅
I owned a 2022 Raptor, and now I am confused whether to buy a 2024 Raptor or to buy a 2024 F150 xlt of road. v8 5.0leter Your opinion is important to me and I follow the channel. I use it inside the city and sometimes I go to the deserts. Or do you advise me to buy a 3.5 liter turbo?
In regards to the R being faster than a TRX, you mentioned how the R is faster for being on 37s....keep in mind you are lighter, have 2 more gears in the transmission and have 4:10 rears. I know there are a lot of comparisons between the two, but some of the specs are very different between the two. I priced an R in the fall of 22 and it was going to be 135K with the markup when a TRX could be had for mid 80k. They are both amazing trucks, both have pros and cons....but a simple pulley swap on the TRX would even the race.
Trying to work a deal on a new ‘24 shelter green R in Dallas at 10 over. Anyway, love your video and channel. Just subscribed. When do you run something other than RWD mode? Rear tires obviously were breaking loose on your acceleration pulls. Had a ‘23 TRX and did like the AWD traction.
It's understandable that the Raptor R would have more cons than it's Mustang sibling, one is a V8 sports car borderline super car while the other is an off road king that cosplays as a great daily LOL
I’ve got a 2024 37 package which I’ve already put a bumper and wheels on. My dealer has just offered me a raptor R for MSRP and I’m really debating if it’s worth it.
given the raptor r has the same motor; as my gt500 and urs; im sure she just needs a little more breathing room; I threw on a simple mrbp x pipe on the 500; and she sounded nasty; I think an H pipe res delete would be perfect for you.
Well, yeah haha. You don’t accidentally buy a Raptor R when truck shopping just as you don’t buy a gt500 when casually mustang shopping. They’re pretty particular, people know what they’re getting into
Everything is “overpriced” nowadays. I can’t change the prices, but I can change how much money I bring in. Overpriced, or not, these things will exist, and they will be sold.

Got it, if only there’s a way to press it harder for full open
My turn signal stock gets stuck all the time too and I have a 23 Tremor. Wish I had Raptor R budget! Gorgeous truck! ❤

I swapped the exhaust tips made a huge difference
God bless you man! you have my DREAM lineup! gt500 and raptor r! one day man ! thank you for showing me its possible
Love your honest reviews on both of your channels!
Thanks for the kind words!

They recently added the trombone exhaust to the R and it does make a difference. My 24R is louder than my 23R.

Considering wrapping w/ppf and curious as to where you got the Raptor R bed decal?

In outside of San Antonio. I would love to meet up with my TRX so you could compare.
I’d love that! We can be friends right? 😅 😂
ranger raptor to your collection dope🔥💯🤙🏾
Absolutely love that truck and have plans to purchase within the next 30 days. How much market adjustment did you have to pay?
5k
@ not bad
Love your vids.
Keep it up fella 👍🤙

True true, thankfully I didn’t pay a ridiculous markup, but still
Maybe a used TRX for mid 80k. They went up in price since they stopped making them.

Personally, only when I need to get the truck unstuck of mud. Or maybe on a dirt track in Baja mode. Otherwise, I like the loose back end on the R!
@@TexasRevving Fair enough! Thanks for the reply and hoping I can get back into a supercharged V8 truck! Have a good one!
I have that same color Colorado ZR2 and I just got that same flag. It looks great
I love it too! Subtle on this color
All Fords, HUGH powered machines. Very nice young man.👍👍👍
Have a 2025 being built this week. Blanco Texas.
I love the shelter green raptor what generation raptor is this
Had the R button issue not working - just comes back randomly lol. Have a may built 24'R
I believe this Huge Pick-up Truck is DURABLE & RELIABLE. not all Ford Cars are Unreliable.
If I only had the money for a gen 1, do you still recommend it. Planning on going to med school and cant take on a new loan
Oh god yeah, Gen 1s are still so great. Ridiculous value too and they’ll run forever
@@TexasRevving Glad to hear it, I know you had the two gen 1s and watching those videos got me hyped about purchasing one for myself

Wait! What’s the TH-cam channel he does for a living? This is news to me. 😂
This one ;)

Whats the driving range ?
whats your other "main" channel? would certainly like to check it out!
Texas Plinking 👊
Its funny because I know exactly where you live lol no worries though friendly mailman here 😂
I feel like the 23 R is bigger inside than the 24 R
What’s your opinion on the bronco raptors? Ever consider one?
I think they’re super sweet, I’d love to get some time behind one. Haven’t considered one however
the seat temp popup doesnt happen on my 22 raptor
Make America V8 Again
My gen 1 with corsa extreme and everything else stock exhaust sounds A LOT louder…… remove your resonators and that should improve
I’ve heard all Raptors have battery issues both Branco and F150 idk just mentioning it .
No issues here thankfully
Sounds muffled from the muffler exhaust.....
Yes, amazing. My gt500 has a muffler too
Too many buttons on the wheel
This is wayy too much truck for the average truck buyer in all honesty.
Well, yeah haha. You don’t accidentally buy a Raptor R when truck shopping just as you don’t buy a gt500 when casually mustang shopping. They’re pretty particular, people know what they’re getting into
@TexasRevving Great content man!
Gtd is so over priced. More than the zr1 lol.
