I am wondering if my sensor is slowly wearing out. It might be worth the $100.00 Canadian. Also I only use 92 octane top tier gas in my escape. 92 octane is the highest octane gas I can get in Canada.
@@CreatingExcellence I had majority of those same issues in my 2015 of the exact same model. Minus the bad fuel economy in the city as that is affected greatly by each person and their driving habits. My problems in the end went away after a Transmission Fluid change. I did the sensor swap, coil packs and spark plugs as well before that. The coil packs made a slight difference but nothing compared to the transmission fluid change. If your getting the check engine light with your issue it's most likely just the low pressure sensor. Purge valve was the cause when it would stall after getting fuel (my check engine light was on with that issue).
Hey there- if you're smelling fuel, check all your fuel lines in the engine bay. We had a black fuel line crack and have drips eek out when the engine is running and under pressure. Find the fuel line coming up to the low pressure fuel sensor, Then follow it to the engine block where it will enter the high pressure fuel pump and then the fuel rail before going to the injectors. If you can find any wetness or strength of smell in one area, shine a flashlight on the line and see if you can see any hairline fractures on anything. These lines can crack and split over time. If you look on our channel, we have a video on replacing a fuel line (which is the main repair I'm referring to from our experience...th-cam.com/video/t-4orqJl-JI/w-d-xo.html). If you feel that you're in a safe position, inspect again with the engine running and a flashlight and see if you notice a spray or bubbling coming from anywhere in the line. That would be my best guess. Also, if you find the leak and repair it, best to replace the cabin air filter as well to make sure you don't have any of that odor circulating the cabin. It gave us headaches after a while. Good luck and let us know what you find out!
I have an stalling issue with my 2013 escape. No engine lights. Should there be an engine light if the sensor is defected? Is your having an engine light?
My car was doing that at random times for the longest time wasn't until last weekend when the sensor finally failed completely and engine light came on
is there anything else I have to do? The car sounds like it wants to start now but still isn't running. I've had the high pressure fuel pump replaced, battery replaced, and the low pressure fuel sensor replaced and it still won't start. Codes I'm getting are P26B7 and P0087.
Hey there and sorry for the delay- I would say probably not, just because the sensor is mounted to the fuel line. I think the impact driver could rattle and damage the fuel line as well, but it would depend on the setting of the tool as well as your hold on the sensor/fuel line. I know I wouldn't be comfortable with it, but if you were really careful, perhaps it would be ok.
I got the same code says the same thing now I went and got the part but they gave me the wrong one it's way to big they are saying it goes in thr fuel rail but even that one is to small I got the 1.5 l eco boost now if I go get the low fule pressure sensor they should give me that one ?
Hello friend, I have a Ford Fusion 2014 2.0. Sometimes the code comes up with p0087 and the rpm sometimes drops and the car turns off. It's not all the time and the code comes up sometimes. Maybe I have to change the sensor.
Great video and explanation. Getting a P0088 code. Wondering if it could be caused by the low pressure sensor sending incorrect info to the system? (2015 Fusion 1.5 L)
Thank you very much for the encouragement! It could be, but also maybe not- after a quick google search P0088 refers to high pressure at the fuel rail. The low pressure fuel sensor sends signals to the computer that the fuel pump is pushing fuel at the correct rate from the gas tank- this is a low pressure supply, but it wants to see a constant supply. When it gets to the fuel rail before being injected into each cylinder, it gets sped up through the high pressure fuel pump, which has he high pressure fuel sensor located on the pump. P0088 is usually related to this component from what I've read- I have not had this code personally, so this is just from research, but it's not hard to get to luckily. Take off the wiper cowl/wipers, then take off the engine cover and maybe the air intake duct. You can then lift up the foam fit around the fuel rail and you should expose your fuel sensor- it's like this on our Escape at least- may be slightly easier with your Fusion since you have a longer engine bay area- might not need to take as much off. Give a shout if you have a chance to confirm / try it!
I don't have fuel problems but my 2015 Escape is now close to 6 years old and she has a little over 127k miles on her. Should I go ahead and replace it anyway for preemptive mantenence?
I wouldn't- sensors can be finicky sometimes. If you aren't seeing any symptoms, best leave it be. Uts not a typical maintenance item like oil servicing or brakes. A sensor is supposed to last, but when they fa they fail and it may be at 80k miles, it may be 200k miles. Just keep the reminder in your back pocket here of your car begins struggling at idle or feels like there are hesitations during acceleration or stalling. Good question Michael
Thank you so much for this video!! One quick question if you can help me. I am an expat living over in France. Bought a 2013 Ford S-Max with the same engine (1.6L). I think part numbers might be different on the European models. I have the exact same problem, but I am having a hard time finding the part over here. I can find plenty of High Pressure sensors. But not the low pressure one. Do you know the part number for the Low Pressure side sensor for cars in France?
Hi, i have a volvo v40 1.6 tgdi engine error accurs as P263662 which explained as “Fuei Pump B Low Flow / Performance. Algorithm Based Failures. Signal compare failure”. Do you think as the same issue on video ?
I have a 2014 ford fusion SE 1.5l ecoboost and I can't seem to get my sensor off to replace it. I took the battery out so I can get to the sensor as ease, but I just don't have enough force. Any suggestions
Good question- if I recall correctly there are 2 flats on the receiver for the sensor- meaning the chunk of metal that the sensor threads onto should have two flat faces for a wrench to hold onto. It isn't easy and it is a bit scary since you don't want to hurt the fuel lines...I do remember that. Have you used a second wrench on the flats?
This might seem like a dumb question. Does outside air temperature affect fuel pressure in this type of fuel system? I’ve been experiencing intermittent stalling at low idle for the last few months. It seems more frequent when the weather warms up past 50 degrees. Sometimes I can go 2 or 3 weeks in colder temperatures with no issues at all. I did discover that the code it throws when this happens is P008A-00. Any help you can provide is greatly appreciated.
Do you know the name or part number for the fuel line. I think I may have not been delicate enough. I don't feel the sensor actually loosened and I have fuel leaking. Just trying to see if this is something I can replace or if I need to take it to a shop at this point.
You can allow the system pressure to dissipate by letting the car sit for up to 12 hours and then remove it. However, along that point it is still only pressurized by the fuel pump so even if it did spray out, it would be manageable with a towel to surround it and absorb it. The high pressure fuel pump at the fuel rail is where you want to be careful but this sensor is upstream of that so it is not as scary. Just make sure to disconnect your battery first to prevent a spark in case you have a fuel mess.
I have a new question for you, are you able to check the berrings in the rear differential? I have a grinding berrjng noise and there is no play in the rear wheels, starting to thjnk its in the rear diff but haven't got a clue how to check them. Thanks in advance.

Hey @HUGEGIZMO 1, did you mean to type "misfiring"? If so, I would say likely not cause true misfiring, but it could feel like it. Misfiring is typically associated with plugs or coil packs, OR timing issues. However, when we had this sensor going bad, it would tell the computer improper fuel to air ratios and throw everything off, and our car would lurch forward and stall, and just keep hiccuping, often feeling like a misfire. It was sending faulty information to the computer controlling the fuel injectors which in turn affected the firing, so it could feel a lot like misfiring. However, there may be nothing wrong with the plugs or coil packs. Does that make sense? I am pretty sure that's what is going on at least. Hope it's helpful!
@@hugegizmo151 alright sounds good 👍 the hardest part for me was just getting to break free as we didn't want to be too rough with the fuel line area. However, just use a wrench on the flats of the sensor receptacle and you can get better leverage there
Hey everyone really need some community help! I just bought a 2017 escape with 140k. The car had a check engine light, and I was told it was the low pressure fuel sensor, but after following these steps & replacing the sensor, the issue persists. Any ideas? How can I diagnose exactly what’s wrong?
I pulled 2 codes on my 15 fusion. P00C6 and P0087. Both still pending not permanent yet. Occasionally the idle gets erratic and the car just stalls out but I guess its not frequent enough to trigger the engine light. I need to figure this out before my wife gets stuck on the side of the road. I dread taking it to the stealer ship just for them to run diagnostics.
Its a good question but I'd say snug and hand tight is all just because its a somewhat delicate hardline for the fuel. If you can hold the underside well, then perhaps, but I can look it up and see if there's a torque spec. If so it has to be on the lower side
I bought a focus 2012 titanium manual 2.0... mark the code p0087 high fuel pressure rail system too low... change the spark plugs change the fuel pump... new... but change the rail fuel regulator I bought it used in junker the fault persists when I go slowly, fine, but if I step on it hard to run, it doesn't respond...

I am a certified mechanic and am in complete awe of the lack of diagnostic support from Ford, or the repair manual provided by a service I pay 200$ a month for!!!!
@@benhajdu4040 My friend If the Ford is petrol engine then you do a test about fuel pressure if 1)petrol pump works, if the pump works 2) next you can test pressure regulator, if that works or there is a problem with pressure regulator 3) if the fuel pressure is OK then you can test the low pressure fuel sensor

Can I use some spray or or something so it doesn’t break???
I have an stalling issue with my 2013 escape. No engine lights. Should there be an engine light if the sensor is defected? Is your having an engine light?
My car was doing that at random times for the longest time wasn't until last weekend when the sensor finally failed completely and engine light came on
is there anything else I have to do? The car sounds like it wants to start now but still isn't running. I've had the high pressure fuel pump replaced, battery replaced, and the low pressure fuel sensor replaced and it still won't start. Codes I'm getting are P26B7 and P0087.
Check the high pressure fuel pump follower/ cup probably shot and cam lobe also
I have 2 one behind the manifold on the passager side of the fuek rail and the one that you changed how do I know which one is bad
Explicação excelente… e me ajudou a trocar esse sensor do meu Fusion
Will an impact wrench be safe to remove the sensor?
I dnt have a check engine light but my Ford is very hesitant and jumps rpms really fast could this be my problem
What if the check engine light is not on but same symptoms?
Our 1.6 engine runs smooth, no miss, no check engine light on. But when pulling a steep grade it pulses, any suggestions?
This might be a problem with my 2.0 EB Fusion, was there any fuel spraying out when taking it off?
You can allow the system pressure to dissipate by letting the car sit for up to 12 hours and then remove it. However, along that point it is still only pressurized by the fuel pump so even if it did spray out, it would be manageable with a towel to surround it and absorb it. The high pressure fuel pump at the fuel rail is where you want to be careful but this sensor is upstream of that so it is not as scary. Just make sure to disconnect your battery first to prevent a spark in case you have a fuel mess.
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews sweet thanks!
Broke the fuel line to the left trying to remove sensor. Idea of how much to repair it?
I have a p00C7 code on my 2016 focus se and cant seem to find the problem any helpful tips or ideas on what it could be?
Its a 2.0 L engine btw!
I have a new question for you, are you able to check the berrings in the rear differential? I have a grinding berrjng noise and there is no play in the rear wheels, starting to thjnk its in the rear diff but haven't got a clue how to check them. Thanks in advance.
Hey there @New Holland Skidsteer! Great to hear from you again- so you think it's actually within the differential housing itself? Is it constant grinding at varying speeds? Does it increase in intensity as you go faster?
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews its a consistent humming, sounds like a wheel berring but unlike a normal wheel berring taking the weight off a normal bad wheel berring reduces the noise this doesn't decrease
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews i know i had a bad front berring and i changed that, then i thought i had a bad rear one but the wheels are solid no play
Where did you purchase the part?
Hi Tynisha, we have a amazon link here or you can find it on Rock Auto. Please let me know if you have any questions www.amazon.com/dp/B07XYG8LCV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_imm_Q8GD9GV6DC92NVG45JGZ
Another good video, bro.
Anyone do a PCV valve on the 1.6? Can't find the damn thing.
Hey thanks, Brendan- sorry for the delay- check out this thread here- there's a guy who worked on the PCV hose - looks like it's on the back side of teh engine just under the air duct! - www.fordescape.org/threads/gas-smell-in-cabin.33874/page-19
I have a 2017 ford escape and it starts but won't barely accelerate and is throwing poo87 and poo88 rail pressure too low and rail pressure to high bank 1 would u go with sensor
I have the exact same problem
And model
Can this cause missing
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews thank you I'm going to go ahead and change the sensors
@@hugegizmo151 alright sounds good 👍 the hardest part for me was just getting to break free as we didn't want to be too rough with the fuel line area. However, just use a wrench on the flats of the sensor receptacle and you can get better leverage there
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews ok I'll let you know how it goes thanks
Will this work on 2013?
Did you figure out the problem? I have the same codes too
@@KengVang559 I replaced that sensor and the stalling issue hasn't returned since.
@@RellyOhBoy thanks will replace it see what happens

Would it be safe to use a torque wrench for this?
Its a good question but I'd say snug and hand tight is all just because its a somewhat delicate hardline for the fuel. If you can hold the underside well, then perhaps, but I can look it up and see if there's a torque spec. If so it has to be on the lower side
Will this fix code p008A??
Will this fix code 1450
This would not apply to the 2.0 ?
Happy family.
Did you fix your problem that’s how mine is ? Can’t seem to figure it out
Your escaped is 2013 and is 4 cylinders ?
Hi Hugo- yes we have the 2013 1.6L turbocharged 4 cylinder.
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews and the problem disappeared ?
@@HowToEscapeDIYTipsandReviews I have the same problem I will try to change that sensor , I have a Ford escaped 2013 1.6 ecoboost like you and changed the fuel pump already and the problem still there what do you thing ?
@@hugomendez658 Hi Hugo! Sorry for the delay- to answer your first question, yes it did resolve the stalling issues and hesitations once warmed up. I have not experienced that ever since replacing the low pressure fuel sensor. I think if you've already replaced the fuel pump, the sensor is the next logical thing as well as somewhat of a low cost item (relatively speaking of course.) I know it worked for us and if you have the same engine and the same symptoms, it could certainly be the issue with yours as well!
I have a 2018 escape with 39,000 miles and the sensor already started failing. I’m getting it replaced after letting it sit 12 hours

Not one person has a diagnostic process? Tell me its a piece of shit system without telling me 😆
This is NOT a diagnosis. This is a guess.
It was an educated guess, but you're right. And it did work. Its TH-cam, man. I'm not a tech, just sharing what worked and hopefully it can help. It would be awesome to have a shop full of pro tools and procedures but thats not the case :) thanks for cleaning up your last comment.
Don't worry it's not you I have a bone to pick with, it's ford. No ports to test pressure whilst the sensors are in the system! That! Is pure idiocracy. I am a certified mechanic and am in complete awe of the lack of diagnostic support from Ford, or the repair manual provided by a service I pay 200$ a month for!!!!

My friend
If the Ford is petrol engine then you do a test about fuel pressure if
1)petrol pump works, if the pump works
2) next you can test pressure regulator, if that works or there is a problem with pressure regulator
3) if the fuel pressure is OK then you can test the low pressure fuel sensor
