열매 yep maybe for foreigners, but recently we put importance on our orginal things so if it were called tteok at the first time and explained as a rice cake, it would be better i think :)
Hopefully there are Korean restaurants or Asian markets in your area to buy the rice cakes and gochujang but this is easy to make. If you want a small batch that tastes fresh and delicious just look for Maangchi's video on how to make it. :)
@@Ari_C the safest bet would probably be to try to make it at home. The easiest way would be to order a packet of rice cakes, and look up how to make the sauce. If you have acess to a proper korean version of tteokbokki you can be sure it's really spicy.
I want to eat this meal so bad. One of the best kimbap I've seen, and the fresh made tteok in this tteokbokki looks pillowy unlike the hard store bought tteok that it's usually made with. Yum!!

@@stevenbotwin The red substance is gochujang, fermented chili paste. The green leaves are daepa, green onions. The clear sticky stuff is corn syrup. The darkish liquid, I'm not sure. Might be soy sauce or some kind of soup base.

The whole time he was cutting the tteokbokki I thought he was gonna cut himself, because the way he was cutting it made it seem so easy, but, if I was trying to cut like he was cutting that would be a total disaster.
My favorite is the fish cake served with it, I mean the combo is heaven on earth. Sweet, spicy, chewy and all that sauce! I wish I still had a friend to make it for me. Lol

you probably can get them in America, not sure where since I don't live in America but there should be some Asian places or you could try making them yourself considering most of the ingredients can be bought in Asian markets
In london there's a lot of Korean food actually, and korean restaurants, even good ones You can look up Maangchi's asian markets list where most of them should have what you need to make tteokbokki, it's very simple!
That kimbab at the end is HUGGEEE and was that fried egg they stuff at the end, looks like noodle. What is that kind of kimbab called, its so interesting!!
This dish is OCD paradise. No one would be able to help me, though, I'd have to do it all. The satisfaction as I cut the final "tube" into the last finger-length piece would be immense. Oh yeah, could totally do this job.

They are rather tasteless, which gives them flavor is the sauce. If you go to an Asian market you can find different types of them mostly in the frozen aisle. You can also depending on the store find frozen tteokbokki kits some mild to extremely spicy. Just depends on your taste, you will have to get the green onions separately.
Its extremely chewy but in a gentle and pleasant way. It feels like the rice cakes gently sticks to your teeth and makes a clicking noise as it falls off. Its mostly about the texture when it comes to rice cakes, and the sauce is the flavor. The texture is very pleasing to chew on.
Can't imagine how this dish can be done in the past without the help of machinery, must be very tired for the housewife to prepare it, salute to them!

Thank you very much for posting this amazing video! I would love to try this tteokbokki one day! I watch a lot of Kdrama where they eat tteokbokki ..and now I know, what that is;) I do not think I can eat this in the UK so going to save money and fly over to South Korea to try it😉
you probably can get them in America, not sure where since I don't live in America but there should be some Asian places or you could try making them yourself considering most of the ingredients can be bought in Asian markets

In london there's a lot of Korean food actually, and korean restaurants, even good ones
You can look up Maangchi's asian markets list where most of them should have what you need to make tteokbokki, it's very simple!
In Birmingham UK theres also a few Korean restaurants and theres a China town x

This dish is OCD paradise. No one would be able to help me, though, I'd have to do it all. The satisfaction as I cut the final "tube" into the last finger-length piece would be immense. Oh yeah, could totally do this job.

They are rather tasteless, which gives them flavor is the sauce. If you go to an Asian market you can find different types of them mostly in the frozen aisle. You can also depending on the store find frozen tteokbokki kits some mild to extremely spicy. Just depends on your taste, you will have to get the green onions separately.
Its extremely chewy but in a gentle and pleasant way. It feels like the rice cakes gently sticks to your teeth and makes a clicking noise as it falls off. Its mostly about the texture when it comes to rice cakes, and the sauce is the flavor. The texture is very pleasing to chew on.
When they freshly make it, it sorta feels like melted mozzarella cheese.
You can order it from Amazon or Ebay. I just had some about two months ago and I really enjoyed it.
