    Wonderful "vlog". I like this type of style. It's fun to watch you just "live your life", whether it involves cars or not. With you crazy sense of humor and your quirkiness, it's enjoyable and actually kind of relaxing. I've been watching since you had about 26K subscribers. Watching you grow and learn is fun. Your ability to speak to the camera and make me feel like you are actually talking to each of us on an individual basis, is quite the feat. Not many can do it like you do. Very refreshing and entertaining. Feels like I just had a yoga session. My brain is calm again and I am happy again. Don't quit and BE SAFE!

    That plug for that turbo is the reason why I like your Channel ,that is real life, never having all the parts to do a job and always have to go back to the parts store. I like that you show it, tells me that I'm not the only one that has that problem.

    Let me just say, your videos are some of the best-composed and edited out on the tubes-of-You...and even better is your attention to detail. I would buy a car from you no questions asked. Love what you do! Just wish you were working on an A3 3.2 VR6 so I could watch as a reference for my own car. ✌🏻

      Dennis Fernau Did it at 66k miles when I bought it and again just a month or so ago at 89k, so that should be good. I guess I should mention I paid a shop to do it...need Sarah to show me how to DIY it! 👍🏻

      @joshuam7552 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@mbk1487 It's pretty simple--well, hahahah, german simple. You'll definitely need a scan tool that can read the trans temp. There's a "snorkel" inside the drain plug. After draining, you screw in the snorkel, basically overfill the trans a bit (wasteful, I know--don't get me started) turn on the car and let the new fluid drain out while it warms to 35ºC - 40ºC. Run it through all gears (R, N, D, and back to park for 5 seconds). At that temp. the excess fluid should be eliminated and you just plug it back up. A little tedious and time consuming--but you'll take a $350 - $400 job down to about $120 + your time. There are some good videos out there.

    I love everything Sarah-n-Tuned, whatever you're doing and how you're doing it. I can really appreciate the extra vlog content. I like seeing the parts of where you are, that you take time to relax and really appreciate.
    I've always had to work on things myself and sometimes being alone can drive me a little stir crazy. I find myself doing the same thing a lot of the time, grabbing a bite to eat and going out somewhere in the country and enjoying the sunset or watching a storm roll through.

    Sarah, your suspension prep will make the job easier when you come to fit the coilovers. The Powerflex bushes are good ones. I fitted a pair of front ARB (sway bar) to my 2001 Astra to replace the worn originals. You should notice a difference once you've installed all those Powerflex bushes.

  • @Bikes-guitars
    @Bikes-guitars 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    The powerflex bushes are really good quality, but you will have fun pressing in the front wishbone rear bush 🙈, they really tighten up the handling and keep the car totally planted, plus they don’t spoil the ride or add any more noise into the cabin, the dog bone bush also improves the gearchange 👌

    FYI some suspension bolts will fit in that turbo manifold. Not sure about VAG stuff, but a super-common Honda rear LCA bolt is perfect. 90173-SR3-003 M10 x 80mm and 1.25mm pitch. The last 5mm is tapered.
    Brazing the brass plug should work, the turbine housing won't get near the EGT temps. Brass melts at 1600F and iron would be glowing orange at that point.

    that brass fitting you have there looks like 1/4" npt (or NPS, npt = tapered, nps = straight). These are just over 13mm and the thread pitch (18tpi) is very close to 1.5mm... It's like 1.4111mm. You can also get BSP (bspt = taper or bspp = parallel) threads which is also 1/4" (19tpi). Don't assume that because it's german the threads are metric. PT (japanese standard) is the same as BSP... yet they're measured in inches. For instance the oil pressure sensors on japanese cars use 1/8" BSPT thread. 13mm isn't really used for metric fittings but I wouldn't put it past audi to use such a thing. For random bolts and fittings I really like using mcmaster carr. They have EVERYTHING. Also if you can bring the fitting to a local hose and fitting place they can likely match it up... I only know the places like this in Canada... but I'm sure there are some in your area. Good luck!

    It made me feel good for you, Sarah, that in this episode you were so relaxed, with a little more down time. Bent rod, wrong plug (weld up the old fitting, please), heck, roll with the punches, no bigee. Don't get me wrong, I love the videos where you get a little out of sorts, or frustrated, too. We get to share in that little roller coaster ride of emotions.
    I guess what I'm trying to say is TH-cam has way too much glib, scripted nonsense, but with your channel it comes across so much more like real life actually happens. You're a genuine character, not a prefabricated caricature, and the camera captures that. Any mix of vlog and wrenching works fine, for you.

    Two places to find M13x1.50 hardware/plug: Coast Fabrication in So Cal. They supply hardware to the motorsports industry worldwide. I’ve bought many things from them SAE and Metric that no one else in the USA had. McMaster-Carr. If you have used them you are missing out on the best place for bits and bobs, hardware of every kind, etc. Locally try your friendly Fastenal or IBT, they’ve both saved my bacon more than a few times. In fact get set up at Fastenal and stop over paying for hardware at the local hardware store.

    I could be wrong, but pipe plugs / fittings will thread in a few threads and get tight because they have a taper to them, or the threads balloon out... if you will, to create a tight fit so there is no leakage vs your standard threads like a bolt which and engineered to stretch for fastening. Don't quote me on that though. lol

One end around the accuator nipple and the other end over the end of the rod at the arm of the wastegate.. oh ya the accuator adjustment is three turns after the nut seats (stops turning with your fingers).

    I used power flex on my 86 Ford Capri and they lasted 20 years in the hot summers of Spain some of them looked as good as the day they were put on (just sold the car) Highly recommend them

    Another option on the bastard fitting would be to cut off the other thread and drill and tap the hole for a convenient size and run a set screw down or a bolt if you have enough clearance with some high temp sealant.

    Cute! I love that you went to go visit Mr. Dos! I’m weird. I talk to my cars all the time. Actually, that probably comes from talking to my parrot all day long (I work from home a lot!) I catching myself taking to myself in public now. It’s great. 🤔

    i think that EGT hole's thread is NPT its tapered so it goes tighter as you bolt it in...

    • @nigelbarton8350

      I thought that initially however Sarah then shows us the fitting that came out and that did not look tapered to me, was a parallel thread and seals on the shoulder. So a standard bolt with a copper washer should be just fine.

    I will say that I like to see more work getting done then the vlog style of video but I know that it can't be all work and no play I generally like a 70%/30% split. That being said I do love your videos and can tell that you put a lot of work into them and appreciate that so much!
