    Was you a fan of this game, or was it a complete waste of money... even for a 1984 title? 😇🕹👌

    I had this on budget it said there was a practice level over barrels never understood why it wasn't there, nice one mate was waiting for this one 🎉😂

      Yeah! I think you could do that on the BBC Micro or ZX Spectrum versions of the game... but it was missed out on the Commodore 64! 😇🕹️👌

      @CheekyCommodoreGamer another mystery solved, thanks as allways mate,appreciated the Eddie kidd story too as was far to young to know why he was loved just knew he was as my brother liked him, keep up the top notch work and let's get to 2 million 👍👍👍

    Not sure Eddie would have enjoyed this back in the day! Probably an easy few bucks for endorsing it. Poor Eddie, so sad he got injured not on an actual jump but on the slow down and went over the edge and fell, poor bloke. He is a proper legend daredevil and was a male model as well I think. Sending him my best wishes

      True story: I used knock about with his missus back in the day, Sam Curly was a stripper on LIVE! TV (if you remember that channel) I used to roll in those UK Glamour scenes. . If the news reports are true she turned out be a wrong'un after his awful crash. All the best Eddie!!

    This was one of those 'load once, mark the name on the disc label, reset the C64 and see what the next game on this disc of warez is, never play again.' games for me when I got it. I think the next game was the fantastic Gateway to Apshai actually!

      Back in my early Commodore 64 days, I loved nearly every game-probably because I was tiny and didn’t know any better. It wasn’t until games got better that I realized Eddie Kidd Jump Challenge was, well, a faceplant. 😇🕹️👌

    Wow, this was lost in my memory, but I know I played it. These big sprites and letters just bring it back. Unfortunately it seems there still isn't much to this game so now I can forget it once more.

      It was good to get this one archived on the channel... but for replay value, I think sticking in the archives is where it may remain... but, for it's day - it wasn't 'too' bad 😇🕹️👌

      Sadly, no. Just the same thrilling lineup of generic cars, with the heart-pounding addition of one extra car after each jump. Riveting stuff, right? 😇🕹️👌

      @@CheekyCommodoreGamer Sounds more exciting than a fortnight at Alton Towers :D
      When was Kikstart released too? That had a better concept of the whole bike jumping stuff. Though even that disappointingly didn't have you jumping over pits full of St. John's Ambulance staff that had fallen in :P

    I first played Eddie Kid Jump Challenge on the BBC computer at primary school during break time..

      Ah, 1984-the golden age when we loved every game, no matter how bad. But even Eddie Kidd Jump Challenge couldn’t keep me hooked for long. Luckily, we also had Ghostbusters that year, so the choice between “meh” and “who you gonna call?” was a no-brainer 😇🕹️👌

      They were certainly basic and the bland 'Brown' background wasn't very appealing either! Thank god some of the larger software houses showcased just what the Commodore 64 could produce when it came to colourful graphics 😇🕹️👌

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer

    what is up with the sprite in the spectrum version? looks like a bicycle instead of a motorcycle!

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer
      @CheekyCommodoreGamer  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Haha I believe that is actually a bicycle on the ZX Spectrum, as the inlay says you can practice on Oil Drums before taking on the motorcycle - however, I think this was missing completely from the Commodore 64 version! 😇🕹️👌

  • @Syragar
    @Syragar หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    This must be the week of oversized characters in games so far. LOL! Yeah... I've gotta be honest... this game looks kinda dull and repetitive. However, I do like how the sprites for the driver and the bike seem to move separately to enhance the simulation of riding the motorcycle. That's a neat effect. It's just a shame they didn't do more with the game itself.

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer
      @CheekyCommodoreGamer  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      BIG sprite week indeed! I pick these games pretty much at random too, but it must have been a subconscious choice. I did like the way you could independantly control the movements of the rider and the bike, making him do a funny shuffle on the seat... I was reliving my youth making him do that funny 'thrust' dance upon approach. Always got a giggle with my friends back in the day 😇🕹️👌

  • @pjcnet
    @pjcnet หลายเดือนก่อน

    Yeah it's 1984 and it's a large spite, but even though it's a bit different, in reality this isn't even as good as many single events in the Epyx sports games series, even the original Summer Games released that same year, but World Games released in 1986 was even better and included barrel jumping that I'd say was much better on it's own, just one of 8 events, owned it on disk, awesome.

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer
      @CheekyCommodoreGamer  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You make a good point... but that bigger development team who worked on Summer Games etc definitely refined the genre - nothing came close to Epyx 'Games' series on the C64 - I have some great memories playing some of those events as a kid 😇🕹️👌

  • @markadshead4214

    • @CheekyCommodoreGamer

      It could have been more appealing if you could undertake more than one style of stunt... jumping the great wall of China could have made this an instant epic classic! 😇🕹️👌
