Until his 90s resurgence, Cash was mostly forgotten. His peak was the late 50s, early 60s. Then his addictions cost him a good decade of his most promising years. He coasted through the 70s, doing his short lived TV show, appearing in movies/TV now and then. Did the nostalgia tour in the 80s with Waylon Willie and Kris. But it was really Rick Rubin Cash should credit for people still knowing who the man in black is.
I would've been pleased to see Buddy Holley's crossover effects on Country and Rock during the latter 60's and 70's. A 'prequel' to the Traveling Wilburys with Buddy Holley, Waylon, Elvis and Roy Orbison; "Nomad Rockabillys."
im not surprised at all.i LOVE 50s & 60s bar room music.but its one of the things i had to leave behind when i became sober. but the music i love, makes me want to kill a pint of everclear. so i can imagine playing that music for a living IN bars would be an unescapable trap of drunkenness & sorrow.the music they sang about was a self fulfilling prophecy.
Johnny Cash's first wife was Sicilian, that didn't necessarily mean that she did not have black Heritage it's possible she did but if she did so what shouldn't make any difference
What did you think of country music that was made in the 1960s?
You can get a good country out of hard times and a heartbreak…
Can't forget that Ray Charles once did country.

My question is this, if Buddy Holly hadn't died, would we have ever heard Waylon sing? He was a guitar player after all.
Holly hired Waylon to play bass guitar because they were good friends. Waylon wasn`t even a bassist and had two weeks to learn.
I'm sure we would have eventually.
@@mariomanningfan don't know. He would have continued to just play guitar
