I’m actually pretty good at doing higher notes but when it comes to low notes I earthier start whispering, my voice cracks, or my voice gets extremely bumpy.
As a woman with a lower range I appreciate this so much! I’ve always admired singers with lower registers, like Toni Braxton and Layla Hathaway. As I’ve gotten older, my voice has gotten deeper. I currently sing tenor in my church choir and this will definitely help me with some songs that I thought were “too low” for me to sing!
low notes are so underrated. singers now a days focuses on hitting high notes but low notes is really amazing for women... anyways MORISSETTE AMON’s Lower note is A2
This was extremely helpful. I am an alto myself and when I was studying this was never really talked about. It was always about expanding the range upwards, not downwards. Luckily I have a great coach now that understands this, but since my lower range has been neglegted for so long I still struggle with it. I’ll definitely try this. I can get to Bb2 on a good day, but I know there’s more below that. I just need the key to unlock it. So thanks for this ladies! :)
After A2 I struggle a bit. I'm only 19 so I hope age will help solidify them lol. Some mornings I can get a small F2. One time I got an Eb2 and was able to record it.
Hi Tara! I wanted to say thank you for pointing out the strengths of an Alto voice. I am an Alto, but have *blush* always wanted to be like an opera soprano. I've always felt not good enough. But wow! Thank you for showing us how beautiful alto voices are! Kat has a beautiful rich voice.
I agree. Just because she can hit low notes doesn't mean that she is an alto. She doesn't have the vocal colouring of an alto. At all. She is a mezzo soprano.
This video didn't help only women! As a man, my voice is very high, even speaking, and singing low notes is a real challenge. These tips will help for sure! Thanks :)
Hi, so I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and learning a lot about music and discovering things about my own voice. I personally (as a female) sing mostly alto/tenor, though I can still hit some soprano notes, and I found this video extremely helpful 😁 I always feel bad about my voice because I can’t belt high notes like more popular singers and I totally agree that low females are completely underrated. Thank you for this
Hello Tara. I am Brazilian, in the interior of the country. Here, I have a vocal trio and a choir that I work with and you have no idea how much your videos and tips help me on how to make them understand the meaning and importance of the gestures, the mantras, the face, everything. That singing is not just opening your mouth, but a set of actions and thoughts. I even subtitled their videos for them to watch and helping us a lot. Thank you very much for sharing this knowledge with us. Hugs from Brazil
this is amazing! I am a mezzo soprano and I have an audition next week, but there are a few parts in the cut that are just at my "break" in my lower range and this literally solved it! Very impressive teaching!
Same I’m super shy and I kinda have to do a chest voice to do low notes but it’s powder than my head voice so I just have to do parts of a song that doesn’t have it
I was stuck on a d3 and just my watching this video my range went down to a barely b2. This helped very much to make me feel confident in my lower singing range!
i love your videos!!! if i could afford lessons then i would definitely have cat as my coach bc she is a worship leader and i want to be a worship leader! this tutorial has already helped so much! i got to an d sharp! that is the lowest i’ve ever sung!!! ❤️❤️
I'm such a fan of layers. Like choirs. Quaerets harmonies. Just in general. I love basses and Altos. Would an Alto it leads adds full time notes that have that heavier presence. In the church world. Older music has so much of this in southern gospel genres. I love Nancy Harmon just her vocal presence. Basses as lead or baritones. High notes play well but it's so over played this narrative that high airy sounds are the best. I have a high middle range for a guy. I like to go low as possible. It's just easier with my voice signature I guess. To hit high than go low. I can go low. It doesn't have the same presence. Tone and texture is more muted. As in comparison. To at mix voice to some what chest or whatever you call that transition. To highest part for a man between to where the falsetto gets played. I still have presence there not as sure more than when I go low. Interesting. I think I get few month out of the year I really don't have this problem my voice is liberated but the seasons and such brings strain. Inflammation and all that spoke to much ending here lol.
Hi Tara. You rock! Thank you for showing us how to rock a song. Everyone has a song in their heart but not everyone knows how to sing it. Thank you for showing me how. God bless you. ❤🔥
As a male singer, I am a High Tenor/Countertenor and I have always had problems with low notes. I can reach an A2 but my voice doesn't allow me to sing the low notes very strongly. I usually bottom out between F3 and D3 while singing. I also have a high and soft speaking voice for a male.
I’ve sang for years and much to my annoyance have only ever squeaked out an A3, and this just took me to a rich F3 in the duration of this video. Thank you!
My throat hurts trying to hit the low note also I get a voice crack edit: thx for being kind and I am getting a bit better also I have Smule so you can hear I don’t do good on low tones username: Midnight12109

Hey Tara! I don't know if you've reacted to spanish singers before or at least plan to in the future but I highly recommend Natalia Jimenez, one of the best and most respected vocalists in the latin world and one of the few left that actually SANG and make heartfelt music. You can check "Recuérdame" which features Marc Anthony live at Premios Tu Mundo and is from the early days of her career when she was in a band called La Quinta Estación, Creo En Mi" live at Premios Tu Mundo, "Tú Y Yo" live at La Voz Kids, "Que Te Quería" (from when she was in La Quinta Estación too) or "Por Ser Tu Mujer" live at Premios Tu Mundo.
I’m one of the first female tenors at my school! My current range is a C3 to an F5/G5 comfortably but I’m trying to grow it further to eventually sing all four voice parts one day :D
Great video! I'm wondering if you could do something similar but specifically for *male* singers on getting the higher notes *without* using falsetto? I know you've done the falsetto video before and you've done videos before for high note support which I believe was non-gender specific.
I struggle to make my "talk singing" voice sound powerful and pretty. I just started taking singing more seriously and ive unlocked more power and my mix and a stronger head voice, but I struggle in my chest voice and not losing my voice/air.
+tarasimonstudio *Thanks for explaining the problems encountered, lowering the floor.* As the jack-of-all-parts at OMS Japanese Christian Church (Walnut Creek, CA, USA), I occasionally have to substitute for a natural basso in Choir. That’s so cool!!! As she could do I it I could too thats awesome!! I have expanded my tone a bit because I sing a bunch of Disney songs and they are kinda low sometimes but I would love to expand it more :)

Why this has no likes
I sing male rock songs a lot so this definitely helps 😂
i genuinely can’t go low at all and its really hard
Same lol
@Alexa Marquez definitely not haha, by rock i mean metalcore
illegal rose quartz it is easier for altos since our range goes downwards. That just means you are a soprano! That means you would slay high notes🤍
Sameeeee 80s 70s bands rule 🤘🏻
I’m actually pretty good at doing higher notes but when it comes to low notes I earthier start whispering, my voice cracks, or my voice gets extremely bumpy.
Same, my voice always changes, sometimes it can hit the high note but not with the low, and sometimes it can get the low note but not with the high
Same but turn it around lol
True for example when you sing at my worst song at this part "oooh dont, dont you worry" urghh
Same, my voice is just naturally higher/quieter,

I am a mezzo but always sang soprano. I am now training my lower register

Chris Sparks 史 瑞 德 she’s actually a mezzo, not an alto lol
I agree. Just because she can hit low notes doesn't mean that she is an alto. She doesn't have the vocal colouring of an alto. At all. She is a mezzo soprano.
Though the word we're looking for is a contralto. Alto is not a voice classification, it is a part in a choir.
Rosannasfriend I agree! Are you a voice teacher?
Rosannasfriend I know. But people mostly know it as alto. Contralto is the right word.
