I am bread, the amazing frog, etc are just kind of streamer bait, they're not that fun to play as they are to watch someone play. This game seems to have more depth to it.
Fun fact: That snake is DEADLY AS FUCK. Coral snakes have that pattern. Harmless false corals are slightly different. No wonder Noodle's grinning like that, he knows he can kill anything that fucks with him!
I got this game too, and I really am loving the heck out of it. It definitely controls REALLY differently from anything I've played before, and the controls are so well made. Noodle really feels like an actual snake in his movement, and the controls work surprisingly well. It's so freaking fun controlling him, just being a snake. Not to mention, the game is SUPER CUTE and the soundtrack is composed by David Wise, and it fits the game PERFECTLY.
Here six and a half years later to say that David Wise did the soundtrack for this game. So even if you have little interest in playing it, I would *at least* suggest giving the OST a listen. It's super good.
this games story is pretty neat. I think it just started as a snake simulator for fun or research but then the dude thought it would be a cool new way to platform so he just kept working on it
Fun fact, the idea for this game came because one of the developers wanted to test the rope physics, but forgot to attach the top end to something. That rope coiled up like a snake. Just add in how one of them had a pet snake (or just liked snakes, don't remember) and then you get this lovely little game.
I'm diggin' the small resurgence of this genre lately. Snake Pass has been on top of my maybe pile for long enough now, bout' time I got it. Also, nice Fumikage poster, best birb boiiii!!!
I love this game so much. It’s surprisingly fun to just travel around these gorgeous African landscapes and be a snake. It can get pretty frustrating sometimes, but honestly, I think that adds too it, especially when you coil around something, that’s always a good time
This is 50% off in the eshop at the moment. I played way too long last night. Had a blast trying to 100% the first few levels. Love the controls. It's different than everything I've ever played in my 30+ years of gaming.
while i don't play a lot of platformers, im sincerely happy the genre is still quite alive and even more in new and interesting concepts in these years where the more "mainstream" kinda games have the lead nowadays
They (Sumo Digital) didn't make CrackDown or Dead Island, they making Crackdown 3 and Dead Island 2. What they did are wonderful "Sonic and All stars racing" and it's sequel "SaaSR:Transformed"/
Fun fact! This is a coral snake. A highly venomous snake. In fact the most venomous snake in the USA. ''Red on black friend of jack, red on yellow kill a fellow.''
You'd be surprised. There's a lot of really stuck up people that'll ridicule anything below perfection when it comes to performance. It's really petty.
@NitroRad I hate that kind of attitude. "Oh no, an Xbox or Xbox 360 game runs only in 480p or 720p! It's not 4k, so it's literally unplayable!" I've seen one guy on the Kingdom Hearts subreddit saying that 720p in the HD collections was not good enough for him. He would probably get a heart attack if he saw the original running in 480i. And he posted that comment before the PS4 ports were even announced.
It's a bit stupid if you don't pick up a game based on nothing else but the resolution, but if it's because of the fact that a game has awful framerate then it's more understandable. It could ruin the experience.
It's worth noting that an update for Snake Pass came out recently that fixes a couple issues the Switch version was having, as people have noticed that post-patch the game looks a lot cleaner in higher resolutions and the lighting and shadows look much closer to the PS4 version. I say this mainly because I'm sure the patch came out as you were recording this video.
if resolution or framerate problems are a scary idea to anyone who may want to try it, go for the PC version. it can be played natively at any resolution, and there's no slowdown on any current or last gen gaming PC.
Years ago, we watched this video around when it was published. As a result, we bought the game, wanting to play it. We still want to play it. But we've been so busy we've not gotten around to it. The primary issue is FOMO; not in Snake Pass, but in other games we are engaged in. We find ourselves trying to keep up with the updates and releases of "get it now because it's not coming back next year or ever!" in games we know we enjoy that we don't want to spend time in games we think we'll enjoy but aren't entirely sure. Free DLC with pre-order? Instead of it being Pre-order-exclusive, make it a pre-order bonus; I'd pay a little extra to get what people who pre-ordered got for free. We're not upset we're not getting free DLC, we're upset we're not getting DLC that exists. I've been playing this a while back and watched your video after finishing it. I thought I'll try it out as someone who got into snakes after keeping on as a pet. It's certainly innovative having to control the snake with impressive visuals and a soild soundtrack although I find the controls and puzzles cumbersome, especially for the last two worlds even with the easy control option. Sometimes it feels rewarding clearing the level and getting the keystones though there are many times when I spend ages with the puzzles which can be a chore. It may not be my kind of platform but it was still good to try something different and to get some perspective from you.
who cares about homework? NITRO RAD REIGNS SUPREME But seriously, joking aside, this review was very in-depth, and to be fully honest, I'm 100% sold! This game looks great! I'm a fan of colorful 3D platformers, and I would love to pick this game up one day and play it. you know, if I actually had a switch. or an Xbox one. Or a PS4. or money in general that I could use to buy it on steam.
That's so great to have a plateformer that feels like the great titles of its genre, without actually being like any of these games in terms of controls.
More physics platformers! Snail -> (But fast) Jumping spiders with forward, turn, look up/down, and jump Frog Kangaroo Horse - walk, run (full gallop), trot, canter with varied terrain Bird - Can sometimes fly, but can also swoop and can also walk up vertical slopes and walk on water
I loved this game dearly. I never buy games day 1, but I did get this one as an exception. I never finished my recorded playthrough of it but I did finish the game on my own and while it had my blood boiling at times, it was ultimately very enjoyable and I don't regret buying it, especially at the low price of twenty bucks that it cost at launch. On a side note though I'm very upset to find that that Rayman hoodie is no longer being made. I told myself I needed it as soon as I started watching this video and now I don't know how to fill this void in my heart.
Finally a physics platformer that isn't a meme game.
+TheBlackHex what the hell does that mean
I am bread, the amazing frog, etc are just kind of streamer bait, they're not that fun to play as they are to watch someone play.
This game seems to have more depth to it.
danger noodle
ThePolohetfan276 it is 100% meme game, it's made by the creators of surgeon simulator, which is literally a joke/meme game.
How? How is surgery a meme?

If I remember the rhyme correctly, Red and Black, youre ok jack. Black and yellow, youre a dead fellow"
*venomous
That snake is adorable and I want a plushie.
A Noodle plushie would be so great hdjrffuh
With that hoodie on you really look like a human version of Rayman.
Meryiel with limbs
I think that is a hoodie for Rayman, I think I can see the white o on it
Haha his hair even kind of looks like raymans
Rayman isn't human?
@@MrAoKamo and a beard
Noodle is just about the cutest name for a snek d'awwwwww
Where are his fangs?
Coral snake fangs are hard to see
The sounds noodle makes when he's dangling really precariously in a dangerous spot automatically make the game worth every penny

Mizzy the Mizutsune profile pic please?
@GregoryMom Just making sure, but did you get my comment? Asking because of TH-cam's poor spam detection.
This is a really underrated youtube channel
needs more subs
@@skiffy8121 why.... Why does he need more subs

Nice to see a new game concept with a twist come up in the vast market of already done games.
Between this, your Dr. Muto review, and your two Blinx reviews, you've earned yourself a new subscriber. Well done!
This is 50% off in the eshop at the moment. I played way too long last night. Had a blast trying to 100% the first few levels. Love the controls. It's different than everything I've ever played in my 30+ years of gaming.
You should to totally do Tak and the Power of Juju.
Omg yeeeeeesss, That was my childhood!
I like how they made the snake adorable considering he's modeled after one of the most venomous snakes on the planet.
No step on snek
i just found your channel today, and i'm really enjoying it.I think you might be one of my new favorite reviewers. props
the snake is so cutee

Im so glad i found this channel. There are many 3d platformers i've never heard of and look fun.

Hahah! Right when you started talking about frame rate issues, I lost my wifi and the video just stopped. Perfect timing :D
THINK LIKE A SNAKE. Seriously, that will get you through so many of the game's toughest challenges. I 100% completed this game and it was fantastic.
Excelente Review NitroRad, saludos desde México!!
Fun fact! This is a coral snake. A highly venomous snake. In fact the most venomous snake in the USA. ''Red on black friend of jack, red on yellow kill a fellow.''
I looked it up, and apparently David Wise composed the music in this game. That would explain why it's good.
This day is freaking awesome now because Nitrorad uploaded!!! Hell yeah!!!
Man, I loved Snake pass till completion when it came out, so I'm hyped that dlc is in the works.
Nitro rad is one of the few youtubers that I will aways turn my add blocker off for, anytime and any day
Who avoids a game over something minor like the resolution or the framerate?
You should search up the glorious "PC master race"

A character doesn't need limbs to be in a great platformer.
Awesome abridged intro
I'm probably not the first one to say this, but I get a feeling of banjo and kazooe when looking at this.
Maybe try Warioworld for Gamecube. It's kinda not as well known because well it's a Wario game, but it's fun enough.

Thanks for the snake nitro daddy.
Noodle is the most adorable snake ever!
Love the My Hero Acadama poster "PLUSU ULTRAA!"
I wonder if they'll ever make a Snake Pass 2? I really hope so as Snake Pass is seriously one of my favourite games released in a good few years.
I honestly hope they do (for a new David Wise score, if nothing else).
"It's a completly useless function."
Hey, I love lighting a smoke in Vanquish so I'm not gonna judge.
Great review. I loved the game too! Level design is great, music is good too, and the collectables are fun (and some frustrating) to get :P
A unique way to play!
You going to get to more obscure platformers soon?
Did you cut your intro short on purpose, and is that the new length you'll be using? I like the full jingle.
