For those pits,
you could always put collectibles around the pit, or leave more distance between the player and the boulder so there's more room for error.
I think they needed more pacdots guiding AWAY from the pits. a short trail or pacdots wouldve been helpful. -
As someone who DID complete this 100%, I'd say the hardest levels to 100% were haunted boardwalk and yellow pac-marine. The first because you have to time jumps perfectly to get all 6 pellets in an arc between boardwalk segments, and the second because the fruit in yellow pac marine are semi-random, so you basically have to destroy everything in hopes of getting all of it. Other than that, I'd say the rest of the levels were intermediate in 100%ing

You did what!? I got stuck on magma opus for years and I cried when I finished the swamp (or whatever wan the level with the spoopy evil tree) and you are like "oh btw i did a 100%" like it's nothing. I'm having an headache rn
The ice levels were the hardest for me, took a month to get through it
The sub level is probably the only level in the game that I actually just don't like. Not only are the collectibles annoying to get, but it's just a long, bland, boring level. It also starts to get STUPID spammy and difficult at the end for no reason making it easy to miss things or just straight up die over and over. Blegh. 100%'d this game as well and that one was the worst for me. Even though Haunted Boardwalk is hard, it's soooo fun to beat once you get it
Random fan theory, but the gold form Pac-Man gets in the Spooky fight might be what allows him to hurt Spooky in the first place- they basically turn the fight from a guaranteed win for the bad guy into a fair fight, hence why Pac takes and deals normal damage to Spooky, who was said to be so strong he was practically invincible until the golden fruits were created.
Yes it’s a canonical explanation but it doesn’t deter the fact that it’s disappointing from a gameplay standpoint

Very unpopular opinion; Pac-Man World 2 (except for maybe the GBA version, because if I ever said that Pac-Man Eorld for the PS1 is nothing compared to the GBA version, I’d be COMPLETELY sarcastic) deserves much better than Sonic Adventure 2, the Sonic Adventure remakes and Super Mario Sunshine!

14 years? Dude I was only 7 when I figured out you had to hit the top of his machine's glass dome. You can also hit the top of Pinky's blower, but it's quite tricky. Now the level where it had the giant ghost tree, is what I struggled the most with.
I never experienced that bossfight since I never completed the last normal level of the snow (in which you had to slide down a cave)
heres to hoping this gets a RE-PAC as well, loved this thing as a kid

16:50 When I played through this, I actually gave up on the slide and managed to find a precise way I could jump into the darkness in order to land at the end of it. That's how difficult the slide was.

Pac-Man World (yes, I know what I said about Pac-Man World 1-3 for home consoles. That’s why I pretend they don’t exist).
This game and Pac-Man Fever were my first experiences with Pacman as a kid. Loved it.
I'm playing through all the Pac-Man World games on my PS2 and so far I think Pac-Man World 2 is the best.
You should cover the PC exclusive game as well, Nitro Rad. Adventures in Time. You seem to like that Ms Pac-Man game a lot, and Adventures in Time is fairly similar with better graphics and interesting levels

Honestly I had never heard of the Ms Pac-Man game, and when I saw the gameplay it instantly reminded me of the PC game. It honestly surprised me when he moved onto this right after, when Adventures in Time and Maze Madness came out the same year
OH MY GOD YES ADVENTURES IN TIME! That was the Pac-Man game I had growing up! I sucked at it but I didn't care because the graphics were so beautiful and awesome! And the mazes were so varied and always had something new to them! And that _soundtrack_ , that _sooooundtrack_ ... my lord it's so good.

As someone who considers the Pac-Man World 2 OST one of his top-3 game OSTs ever, I completely understand where you're coming from...yet the recurrent variants on the Pac-Man theme through different filters completely sells it for me alongside the absolutely gorgeous layering. It's a simple concept, yet delivered upon with majesty.
I think the gold Pac-man thing was a glitch...In the Gamecube and PS2 versions (Not sure if this glitch is also on the Xbox version), the first time you use the metal power up, if you wait until the power up wears off, and then quickly get the power up again, Pac-man will turn into metal Psc-man, but he will be his normal color, but shiny like metal. Basically, it's metal Pac-man, but he looks like the gold Pac-man on the final boss. Maybe Namco saw this glitch and thought it would be cool if Pac-man turned into that on the final boss.
I played the hell out of this on the GameCube back in the day.

This is one of the few platformers on Gamecube (aside Mario Sunshine) that I remember enjoying a lot when renting it as a kid. Too bad I forgot most of it except the trampoline sections.

The leitmotif thing was one of my favorite parts of the game's presentation--I liked the idea of each region having a theme that got arranged differently for each level, especially with how lighthearted most of the themes were and how they got turned into angrier, darker boss themes.
And Avalanche Alley. Holy heck. I loved and hated that stage. You're right, the ice and the pits are frustrating. I ended up revving into one of those jet stalagmites and flying through half the tunnel most of the time.
And that. Dang. Slide.
But I love this game, it's a big part of my childhood, and I'm glad to see it again!

Pac-Man World 2 is one of my favourite 3D platformers of all time, I don't even think it's necessarily one of the best ones out there, but it's just a super fun and enjoyable good time, just don't go for 100% as Nitro said and you'll have a great time with it.

As someone who also 100 percent the game.. I teamed up with my childhood self who almost collected everything. The hardest part was speedrunning most of the levels.
Collecting the stuff was kinda hard for the avalanche level thou. Apparently
On ps2 if u die once.. a glitch happens where one of the pellet respawns and it takes away from ur pellet count so if u die in that level ur going to start over again.

Pac-Man is (or should be) known for having genuinely strong video games, but yes, the PMW games, like Pac-Mania (both the NES and PMW2/original versions) and Pac-Attack (PMW2 version) are the best of the best!

What I like about this game's music is every world has a song that each level remixes. It's like how in Banjo Kazooie every world has one theme, and each area in that world changes up the instruments in some way. It always felt like it effectively tied the worlds together.
Another great video. Pac-Man World 2 is such a great game but to this day it was one of the hardest 100%'s I've personally ever played. Highly recommend this game.
I actually really liked Pac-Man World 2 more than the first game. I didn’t play much of the first game because I enjoyed the design, gameplay, soundtrack and sound effects of the second game.
I played World 3 of Pac-Man but didn’t feel the nostalgia I got from World 2, sure they play similar to each other but World 3 made some arrangements to gameplay and sfx that did not feel appealing, to me at least.
I’d say I played 10% or less of World 1 and 50% or more of World 3, meaning just completing the game and ignoring the collectables.
I beat World 2 but not 100% completion cause I just wanted to get through the level and on to the next while thinking “oh, I missed some fruit and dots, I’ll come back for it another time when I feel like it.”
But everyone else has their own opinions and this was my opinion on this game of the trilogy.
When I get this game again, I’ll at least attempt to go for 100%.

One solution for the running towards the camera part, is to have a path of coins (or in Pac Man's case dots) to subtly guide the player towards safety or to indicate danger. I notice this being used in various Lego games like Lego Harry Potter.
Actually in Lego Harry Potter they reward you for playing risky when following the studs (Lego's coins) that leads to danger. The line of studs goes from grey to blue the closer you get to a pit or an obstacle. This gives casual players a clear indicator that something dangrouse is up ahead and gives players who want a challenge a reward for collecting the studs and avoiding the trap.

I never could get past the other lvls. The ONLY one who made it to the ice lvl was my cousin who lived next door to us. I miss my ps2 and I wish I could replay this. This was my childhood 🥺💙
this was my first game ever, still holds up great. Another incredibly difficult part for me was when you had to destroy a bunch of skeletons in a certain timeframe in the 2nd last level

Matthew Rubenstein Pacman world 3 has the best level design and polish imo. It's fun to run around and explore the world. The music is kinda boring tho, feels just like slow ambient music and that's it. The combat is horrendous. It's just "can you press the b button?" The worst part is that the game so heavily focuses on the combat which is always the same and it's boring. I love the voice actors for everyone especially pac man, I love the sassy tone he has even if it doesn't really match his personality. Dialogue is always entertaining to listen to between all characters. Overall the game is mediocre, if it weren't for the combat the game would be awesome but it's so heavily focused that it can't be ignored.
DollarBoy96 best level design? Examples please because putting gears in gondola lifts and waiting with nothing to do several times isn't good

Hmmm. I wonder if he's going to do a video on Pacman and the Ghostly Adventures for funsies. I bought the game. It was...okay. Just okay. There was some challenge at the last few levels but honestly, it was just a decent platformer.
For now I'm gonna just do up to Pac-Man World 3, but I may consider doing the Ghostly Adventure games someday!

I too think the PMatGA games are meh (if a real low average), but how do you know that MTP even likes the Pac-Man and the Ghostly Adventures TV show?! He was a retro fan, even to this day.
GA 2 on 3DS was meh, GA 1 on console was good, GA 1 on 3DS was great, and GA 2 on console was amazing (ps, dare I say that GA 2 on console is a tiny bit better than World 1)
