    Thank you so much for this video! Our son is starting solids and I’ve been wracking my brain out trying to find baby food that doesn’t have awful stuff in it and I finally decided to make his baby food home made. It’ll be a new experience for sure. Really money saving and reassuring in the long run cause at least we know what he’s eating.

    My baby boy is 5 months today so i was just digging out my little baby recipe notes from when i first did this with my daughter in 2020 when the world locked down. You must have known! Great to see other mummy's doing this sort of thing for those very reasons. Inspiring xx

    Babies tastebuds are super sensitive so a lot of the times added sweetness isn’t even necessary! We’re so used to sweets so it tastes funky without it. It’s a lot harder for babies to know the difference. Love the vid Delilah!

    Thanks for the tips! From what I heard when I introduced my son to solids a couple of years ago, is not to add any salt to purees etc as their bodies aren’t able to process it at such a young age. Also their taste buds aren’t developed fully so what might seem tasteless to us as adults probably won’t be to a tiny human 😊 could be wrong but that’s what I heard x

      You're right. Baking powder also has sodium so careful for that, but ultimately the small amounts of salt that most people would put to season foods aren't very dangerous and as each day from conception passes, their kindeys develop more and more till moderate salt is no longer a worry. There's sodium in breastmilk as well just fyi so reducing BM and starting on water + foods with salt included is kind of a natural transition. Mine had a strong preference for salty potatoes, squash, beans and egg over unsalted onse pretty instantly :D and I regret having pushed unsalted and sugarfree foods so religiously for so long on my LO even if it meant him eating much less. With my second I'll be adding small moderate amounts of salt and sweetener items from the get go. :)

      We also didnt add salt and sugar even at 14 months now. Usually, babys are not used to it so they arent missing anything and fruits and veggies are full of taste naturally.👍

      A senior Dr. told my brother in law, when he was in medical school, that babies are actually born with tastes buds 30× more sensitive/stronger than a adult 😊 hense why they make faces at all new foods and why we don't need to add anything to our foods to enhance them. What taste bland to us is strong to them because their taste buds are new and untouched. ❤

      @@bianka4001I never stated it was a guarantee ☺️ BLW has heaps of benefits like it helps develop motor skills and independence, saves money, it shows respect for the child as they get to choose what they put in their mouth, baby gets to explore different textures other than mashed up (which I’m not sure about you but I would never want to eat…) etc etc etc ☺️

    I love that more mom's are doing this. Let's be honest here, most processed baby foods are also loaded with bad stuff. Well here in America it is. I also had a lot of fun making baby food, and freezing it. It's even better when you go pick something fresh from the garden to give them. The veggies after being steamed and pureed, would be so bright and beautiful. My little ones always devoured their homemade baby foods and they eventually grow up not being picky eaters.
    Some of your recipes here look good for me to eat. 😂😂😂

    • @WhimsicalCrochet
      @WhimsicalCrochet 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Prepackaged babies foods are not loaded with bad stuff. Atleast not regular purées. I do prefer homemade foods for my daughter, however I think that it’s really wrong for people who make their own food to fear monger those who don’t have the time to do so for their own babies. If you go to a grocery store and pick up a jar of baby food, the only ingredients will be the veggie or fruit of choice, and water. I’ve had to resort to packaged baby food a few times when my daughter was younger, and the first time I was so scared that i was “giving my baby junk” until I checked the labels, and all that it said was “green beans, water” or “carrots, corn, water.” I’m in America btw. I know it’s an easy misconception to believe that any packaged must be full of fillers and added sugar, but that’s just not true.

    • @minnamae25
      @minnamae25 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WhimsicalCrochet I have done my thorough research. I'm actually referring how these fruits and veggies are grown. Of course the label is simple. I'm talking deaper here. It's either GMO or heavily sprayed with pesticides. This isn't fear mongering, it's truth and reality. I discovered truth when i noticed the decline in children's health. Increase in sicknesses, increase in cancer, increase in autism especially unvaccinated kid's.
      Keep your blinders on or not. Up to you. Once you dive deep down that rabbit hole, you'll discover a whole lot of truth and maybe you will stop making ignorant comments on posts like this.

    On another note, moms shouldn’t worry too much about researching the most up to date expert recommendations. As long as they’re following basic safety guidelines for choking hazards, allergies, ect, the baby be fine. Experts aren’t the end-all-be-all and I think we rely on them way more than we need to.

    • @tempestj8845
      @tempestj8845 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I'm pretty sure that's only for raw things - so if she was thawing the green beans and then decided not to make it and stuck it back in the freezer that would be bad. She's cooking them and blending them down and then freezing. It's kind of like when you thaw raw chicken and cook up a platter of chicken parm and have a bunch of leftovers and want to freeze it for another day. Whereas if you thaw raw chicken and don't cook it, you shouldn't put it back in the freezer. I believe it's because bacteria can grow on the thawed food and doesn't die off when put back in the freezer so you have a higher bacteria count then when you took it from the freezer the first time. If you're cooking it, you're killing off the bacteria (usually - depends on the temperature you're cooking at).

She said if I'm willing to take those risks she wouldn't be so worried about honey in itself but ofc she will respect my decision.

    I did baby led weaning and fed my child 100 different foods before her first birthday. Now, at 20 months old she still became a picky eater. Probably because we started feeding her what we typically eat which is not adventurous, very bland Midwestern diet. But she won't eat any vegetables and has shown intolerances to dairy. It's been a struggle.

    The reason for not giving honey to a baby is that it might contain botulinum spores. That's not a problem for older kids and adults because the spores can't develop in the acidic conditions of the stomach. But babies doesn't have as low a pH in their stomachs. I couldn't find any sources about maple suryp, though.

    Thank you so much! It feels very overwhelming to make all my babies food but now I can do it with you! I've watched this video twice and made a list of all the ingredient I need, and will watch it again once I start cooking. Really appreciate this! Thanks again. My baby will be 6 months in two weeks so this is perfect timing!

    So cool. I haven't made any baby food from scratch ever for any of my kids but really think this is a great idea. I need to try some out for my current baby. Thanks.

    Currently breastfeeding my second, are your dresses breastfeeding friendly? If not, what would you recommend?

    Hi Delilah, Those baby recipes look good for me to eat. My kids are all grown. I wished I could of done this. But I didn't know how. My Mom didn't teach us. You look beautiful in your dresses & Anna Beth is getting so big & cute. Thanks for sharing!♥️😊🫂🐾🧶🧵🪡🖌🎨✨️

    Thank you so much for this! My baby will be 4 months old in a week and I'm excited to try making some homemade baby food this time around (I did store bought with my first two) when she turns 6 months old. Definitely going to be trying out some of these recipes!

    Thank you so much! My toddler is almost 2 and if I had an oven id be more adventurous with baking more flavour full dishes for her! I used to just make purees a lot ❤ she's also allergic to dairy and egge

    I made some of my own purees for my son when he was Annie’s age but we had a tiny apartment freezer so I didn’t stick with it. We have a house with a deep freezer now so when I have our second (due in October) and they start eating food I definitely want to just make it myself

    Perfect timing as my baby is 6 months old too! How do you handle intro to allergens? I love your approach with these recipes and am interested if you into these allergens one at a time before you transition to the BLW items.

    Also, when do you find the time to do this? My 20 month old would never entertain herself as long as it would take to get some of this done. Not sure how im going to get so many new foods prepped with my second in four months.

    I love this! My youngests favourite home made puree was carrot and apple! If i was feeling like i needed inspiration i also looked at the combos that were at the grocery store and would do my own spin on it!
