After last night’s season finale of SVU and Barba’s admitting that he is also in love with Olivia, I now wonder if Barba had other ulterior motives than just protecting Olivia when he chose to defend Wheatley. Clearly he doesn’t personally like Elliott very much. Called him a bully and insinuated that Olivia should be more angry with him than she is with Rafael. Clearly he’s aware that Liv is in love with Stabler, he outright said so. Gets me thinking that maybe his reasons for defending Wheatley were based on bitterness and jealousy over Liv’s deep love for and protectiveness over Stabler. Could also be why Liv is still so pissed with him, I think deep down she may suspect that Barba defended Wheatley as much to get back at Stabler than it was about protecting her.
Came back to watch this to see if I felt the same way and yep… sure do.

U can tell barba was hurt when he asked liv if she was involved with stabler you could see it on his face and stabler as much as I love him is just messing with Olivia’s head and heart I would love to see liv and barba together

He was always a good he did his work very well I think he was the best DA
I think we just have to trust the process. I am still on Barba‘s side , although it’s understandable that some people saw his actions as a major betrayal of Liv‘s trust. In the end, prison is not the right place for Wheatley, I think they will end his arc by him either killing himself or being killed (prob by Angela or stabler)

Barba had the nerve to come close to Wheatley to protect the one he cares. Of course he is sorry for what happened to Stabler's wife. But as he said, he never met Stabler.
Benson crossed some lines and he wanted that not to be mentionned during the trial.
As a reward, Benson is angry at him !
But she tries to reconnect with him.
Honestly, during this trial it was impossible to think that Barba and Benson were friends and that he happened to go to her place to spend a nice afternoon with the whole team.
Stabler doesn't know that. He would be dead jealous.
And Olivia is in a very uncomfortable place. I think she cares for both of them. And she doesn't want to let Barba go away. For once, she will stand for herself. Now she needs Barba in her life and she realizes she's losing him because of Stabler.
If he goes away from her life, there will be a huge emptiness , he will bring a part of her ten passed years away from her. A part of what she built would collapse for good.
Stabler brought happiness in her life... again.ironically.

And now, I read that Kelli wants to leave the show.
There will be no more character development ? More deleted scenes ? Or what ?

I don't think Barba should get a pass here. While I agree he should be allowed to represent who he wants, Wheatley set him up, and Barba tried to setup Stabler to look bad in front of Benson. He knows Benson loves Elliot and he tries to (subtly) make him look like a monster in front of her. Barba doesn't realize that this has more to do than simply Elliot and Olivia, Olivia was legitimately friends with Kathy. She helped save her life when she was in the car crash when she went into labor with Elliott Jr. I don't mean to be crass but Barba is a simp who doesn't know the full story and history and is only interpreting the picture of Stabler through 1 lense based on his personal experiences unrelated to stabler himself
*This episode was without a doubt THE best episode this season no question. From beginning to end, it kept me wanting more from Barba's fast talking slick & brash approach in the court room, to Stabler & Olivia FINALLY addressing (or at least starting to address) the elephant in the room to Barba & Olivia's friendship being strained & quite possibly never being allies again to Richard being a slime ball.... They absolutely did the damn thing with this one!!*
Phenomenal from start to finish! My one and only complaint is Olivia not telling Elliot she was referring to Ed Tucker when she spoke of their relationship. I am dying to see Elliot's reaction about their relationship seeing as he and Tucker hated one another.

Elliott is awesome, but let's be real: intellectually, he's no match for Barba. He's by far the smartest, quickest-witted ADA they've ever had on that show. His mind is like a living computer.

Any other lawyer worth their salt would have went hard at her on the stand about her relationship/knowledge of Elliot's behavior. Wheatley asks Barba twice to be on retainer for him and Barba tells him not for all the money in the world. He was trying to protect his friend.

I mean, this is his job. He's a defense attorney now. Sometimes you don't get a choice who your clients are. It was never a personal thing. Just like with Rita Calhoun it was never a personal thing. Everyone has a right to an attorney, even scumbags, and it would be unethical, as well as illegal for him to purposefully bomb the case. He could've gone nuclear with his defense, but held back out of respect for Liv

It’s time like this that I wish of the older law order attorneys would have showed up to help liv and Stabler. Because even though a lot of the evidence fell though they could’ve pushed further.
The problem is, this dialogue and plot is beneath them. This isn’t law and order, it’s a power fantasy. I’m honestly rooting for the bad guy at this point

I'm sorry but Barba is the better man. 20+ years and Elliot is still the same angry and breaking the rules guy. Lol I get long time fans are in love with the Elliot and Olivia that never was. But the man is still so tunnel vision as he had in the early years. Liv has issues and sees him as someone who always protected her but she's let so much of his wrong go, rarely holding him accountable instead making excuses for him. It's an unhealthy connection. Ship needs to sink

Well listen here Oh Mai... we can argue until the cows come home about who is the better man but the fact is both Barba and Elliot are good men at heart. Elliot of course has his demons but honestly I believe he is misunderstood. I wish the writers had a scene where he and Barba could have a one-on-one, man-to-man conversation and actually get to know each other better. Maybe then Barba would have realized Elliot is not such a bad guy deep down and Elliot would have realized Barba genuinely cares about doing the right thing and is not like so many other defense attorneys who try to blame the victims.

The glance that Barba gives to Olivia right before starting his cross of Elliott ... whoa. Seemed more like two guys fighting over the same girl for a brief moment until later on when Olivia tells Barba she feels like he betrayed her and she's not sure she'll get over that. Barba seemed to only take this case to seek revenge on NYPD for putting him on trial. This was a vendetta case for him, and he seemed to be deliberately trying to punish Olivia by the cross examinations of both her and Elliott. Wish that he hadn't chosen to defend Wheatley. Still love Barba though ... but this was a thorough character assassination for him.
Nonsense. What revenge, nothing. After his trial Barba was still communicating with Olivia and everything was fine between them. Nothing to see. It's just that the writers seem to want to isolate Olivia's character from just Stabler again, as it was in the old SVU. Did you notice that all the important guys around Olivia disappeared? Cassidy, Simon, Tucker, and now Rafael. Pft!!

His still a good guy. Barba set it up for Elliot to go off so that in turn Wheatley would go up and testify . Had he not done so Wheatley wouldn’t have flipped out when Carisi cross examined him leading to either mistrial or guilty verdict. If Wheatley’s son stepped up Wheatley would go away for life. I’m surprised the jury didn’t convict him just based off how scared he was to even look at his father through the camera !

What happens if you use the defense attorneys own actions against him? I mean I almost kind of feel like Elliot Stabler could have asked him like how do you sleep at night knowing you killed a baby. Mercy or not you screwed SVU. I know I did the same thing but you know what the truth is I couldn't handle what happened especially living with the guilt that I had to shoot a girl who pointed a gun on our fellow police officers. It was too much for me but you know what you did might have been Mercy but still you screwed everybody. And now you just send a monster if this is the way of making penance this isn't the way to go. So Barba you're a baby killer dude.

Holy Meloni such an epic two episodes. Omg. So good. Barba was good as usual but in this one stabler was epic. He didn't know who to hurt more barba or Wheatley. Lol
I understand that bringing back Barba to defend Wheatley was a way to make Wheatley's trial more exciting because Barba's extremely good at what he does so that would create suspense and give the feeling to the audience that indeed Wheatley may walk out. However it's sad because they just take down a character that was built with very specific ethics and way of thinking for almost six seasons. I find this turn unjustifiable, so I hope this will clear out on the next episodes!

I'm so disgusted by what the writers are doing. What they want? Destroy the wonderful friendship between Liv and Rafael only to get her dependent on Stabler again?? I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!! They already took all the guys out of Liv, Cassidy, Simom, Tucker's life and now they're messing with Rafael too?? And all this so that she definitely returns to having Stabler in her life?? For God's sake, let's be realistic: Elliot's departure was due to things that had nothing to do with his character, but rather because of the stubbornness of Chris Melloni and the show's directors. Now they want to explain everything that happened by inventing a drama that is affecting all the characters in SVU, and spoiling the best thing that ever happened in Olivia's life, the presence of her friend Rafael Barba. It's not fair to harm rafael fans like me just to promote Elliot back into Olivia's life. Does anyone know of an official address where I can send a protest message to SVU producers??
Honestly, in a way, Barba was a better choice for defending Wheatley. Think of all the defense lawyers we’ve seen throughout the series. Most of em were real jackasses. As for Barba, he always played fairly, never disrespected the victims, or preached any disgusting rhetoric towards SVU and NYPD, which is what any other defense lawyer would’ve done
@Jake McNulty yes, I don't mind that he is a defense attorney, after all, not everyone is guilty and these deserve the best defense. But what drives me crazy is that the writers could have chosen another lawyer, say Rita, or Buchanan, or Barth. Because precisely Olivia's best friend? Someone so close to her? Is not fair
with Rafael, nor with Olivia, who has already endured so many losses, nor with the fans. And all this just to please Stabler fans? Ha, spare me.

I really hope they bring Raul back at some point and don’t just leave barba and benson on bad terms. Raul is just such an amazing actor.

I always wanted Barba and Olivia together. Just not only friends. He was there for her and loves her son, too. As for Elliot, there was always an under current of sexual tension with Olivia, but I truly think she needs the stability of Barba. Even if he is a defense attorney now. Please do not make him the bad guy.
Not the most popular opinion but it's true.
I like Rafael and Olivia's friendship. It's a light, happy relationship, the smiles and hugs are easy and even when they fight (and they promised to do that until they're 85), the impression is that they'll always hit it off. With Elliot everything feels tense and toxic. No, Elliot's return was definitely the worst thing that ever happened in Benson's (and rafael's fans) life.

The SVU/OC Crossover Event was worth the wait!!! The delicious 2 hours felt like a movie instead of broadcast television. Bravo Wolf Entertainment and all the players involved.
I will not give an in-depth review because I do not want to spoil it for the fandom who have not the opportunity to watch. I will only say this...
I have been giving Angela the "side-eye" since Season 1 of OC. That she definitely was not to be trusted; that she was really the power and muscle and actually running the syndicate -- not Richard. My gut told me that she and Richard were always in kahootz...😵
Also, please NBC post the edit of Richard and Elliott having a conversation in the restroom -- the hot azz Alpha Males -- discussing and comparing their bedroom "prowess".

I’m now convinced Angela is actually the one who hired someone to run Olivia off the road, not Richard. I started thinking about it. Wheatley is attracted to Liv. He’s arrogant enough to think he can charm her into liking him. He also knows that Elliott is in love with her and it would be too easy to just hurt Liv. It’s worse if he tries to steal Olivia’s affection from Elliott and I don’t see where he has anything to gain from just hurting Liv. Especially since Angela has fallen for Elliott too. Stealing Elliott’s true love would be an eye for an eye form of justice to Wheatley. But Angela would have plenty of reasons to want Liv gone. Grief brought her and Elliott together before so if Liv were to die too, in Angela’s twisted mind it might drive Elliott back to her arms again. Plus she also sees it as a chance to further falsely implicate Richard as being guilty of committing or ordering more crimes committed against Elliott and those he loves so he’d have to go to jail. She does hate Richard and blames him for hurting her children, killing her son and trying to kill her so she certainly wants him gone so her kids and her can be free from him. And let’s face it, who would suspect her of doing anything like this, given her current performance of being the weak, ailing victim of Richard’s! It makes way more sense that she is the one ordering all these attacks on Elliott’s loved ones.

Fantastic episode. While Barba nailed it as always, Carisi was a master with Wheatley on the stand. The writing and acting was so good in the episode. And this week's OC episode was equally as good. Incredible crossover storyline happening right now.
