I always felt like Barba confessed in a way when he said his goodbye to Liv back in season 19 (was is? It’s been a while) and then this episode broke me! I wouldn’t be mad if her and Stabler can figure things out but deep down I’m rooting for Liv and Barba. They won me over in the end

Liv and Stabler do NOT belong together. She and Raf belong together. He would actually be good for her. And Stabler didn't even speak to her for ten of the twenty-three years she's "known" him; he's been out of her life almost as long as he was in it!

Season 23 has literally been character assassination for liv and I'm mad like there was a whole HALF episode of her somewhat forgiving a literal predator but she can't even talk to barba let alone give him the respect and benefit of even listen to him like damn 😭
I could’ve dealt with liv having unresolved, conflicting feelings about her predator ex bf as its common for victims of abuse to feel this. HOWEVER theres a difference between having these feelings and absolving him of all the shit he’s done. Liv should know better as a SVU captain how abuser never really change, yet she forgives him and spends so much time with him. Tbh I’ve noticed this weird push to absolve predators through restorative justice in the past few seasons and I fucking hate it. It goes against everything the earlier seasons and the lack of resolution and justice in these cases for the last few seasons don’t sit right with me

I am in the minority. I never wanted Liv an Elliott together. I liked the fact that there was a man/woman team on television that didn't turn into a romantic relationship. Plus, the fact that he was married and faithful always made me respect his character even more (and Liv's for not going there). So, I'm team Barbson.

Ok, having said that: judging from the way they talk about each other/ the situation, Mariska and Raúl have a strong siblingish sort of relationship. ( They are both happy involved in long turn relationships, not that that matters.) They, as people, might just not be comfortable “going there”. Even still, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, having Liv having Barba as a brother from another mother would be ten times more emotionally fulfilling than her being stuck riding Stabler’s perpetual mood swing.

But she was constantly backing him up to Cragen ( God! I miss him!) every time Stabler did something that would totally give the defense grounds for an immediate dismissal. It’s like the pair of them cared more about getting their licks in than in actually convicting people.

This is what I’ve been saying bc like I’ve been there and I’ve tried every which way to be with the “nice guy” bc they are amazing ppl, but some ppl just leave a mark and these other amazing men don’t deserve being treated like this in the end bc u know and they know they’re never gonna have all of u and that’s hard on u as a person too bc u don’t want to do them like that either. 10 hrs, 10 days, 10 years and Elliot is still IT for Olivia. He’s a flawed character, but his dark and twisty (to quote another fandom) just gets her dark and twisty. They seem to get it.
The idea that Liv sat waiting on a married Stabler and now that his wife is dead its “their time” is truly sickening to me. I loathe this storyline and the romanticizing of this sad idea of who Olivia is.

He's right you know. Stabler has been back for over two years and he isn't even trying to work at re-establishing his friendship with Olivia. He didn't even have her at his Medal /Award Ceremony. Seems like she does everything for him and he only calls when he needs something. He claims he always loved her, but words mean nothing. Rafa was always there for her, but she's waiting for a guy who is still (emotionally) unavailable to her.

Things were headed that way when his marriage was at its worse he confessed then to her that he loved when that guy the one eho killed a family and kidnapped the youngest had cut her throat El let him get away with the kids when Fin corner him dude killed the little boy ..... the panic in his voice when she was on the ground bleeding him screaming and begging god please no not her he told her his love for her caused him to pause cause he couldn't lose her. Which allowed dude to do what he did and basically told her how love for her got in the way and ut always will cause he will always choose her when it comes down to ethier save her or a victim. And wasnt sutr how he could deal with it hr wabted to talk and wirk it out but she then went asked for a transfer so she didnt have to talk that when he got Danny as a partner and they had a fling eventually when he was his most weaken if that had happened with love it would of killed everything in their relationship I am so glad this happening now cause he was always in love with her but loved and faithful to Kathy to.... Honestly, based on what Mariska said in an interview about Barba and Liv's relationship, it doesn’t sound like it’s a love triangle. She said they play them as siblings (granted, it didn’t give those vibes and think Barba loves her), and that it’s always been Elliot. Fortunately for me, I’d be happy if she got with either man. So yay for those of us who are on the fence! lol Either way, I need more Barba in my life!

Well, Chandler, Liv's already dealing with Elliot being back and the reason he's back is in the wind because Dylan McDermott got another job, but also partly because the writers decided to turn Raf into a moneyhungry zombie.
so it took the writers 5 or 6 years to build a good character who has a strong bond with Benson so they can ruin this character in 10 sec' ? Why not 😐?
And ruin Olivia's character as well because now she is only an angry bitter woman .

Stabler was a hothead in the beginning; he’d snap at Liv for helping Simon but, when Kathleen got into trouble for trespassing, Stablers trying to clean up her mess but, he looked like a hypocrite.
Liv had a better relationship with Barba before he left; he did need to get away to do some deep thinking.
Everyone knows Barba loves Olivia; if she would remove her Stabler blinders, her life would be less chaotic and, she’d have a wonderful man who gives 100% of himself.
I'd rather have Liv with Barba than stabler.

Honestly, Stabler and Liv have more history and he has waited 23 years to finally tell Liv how he feels. Rafael just up and left Liv right there on the steps of the court house then returned to defend Wheatley after Liv all but begged him not and he did anyway.

I feel like Liv would have to be Elliot’s mother bc he doesn’t know how to control his emotions. And that would add more stress to Liv’s life. If Elliot could fix those issues or work on them then it would be better.

I know that I loved liv and elliot, but I am also aware of how truly incompatible they are and honestly the tension between them has stretched for such a long time that they can't be happy together, but barba...they fit together way better. Honestly I think liv will never choose either of them. Barba will never be stabler and stabler will always be stabler. Liv and noah have been and will be fine without them.
Noah already has to forget Stone who was his coach then he has to forget Uncle Rafa.

I had a good laugh at this. I did make an edit I'm going to release soon that took a different look at stabler and benson being together. It showed all the bad parts of their so called friendship, I don't really have a side but I feel that there are somethings that have happened that wouldn't make them good together.

i rooted for stabler and olivia in the beginning, but after the whole wheatley situation i just feel like stabler is not in the right place for a relationship rn. he can barely handle his own family and has been getting too deep into the undercover work to focus on someone else i feel like. idk but it seems like they're just trying to push olivia with someone when all she really wants is to be with noah and she'll be happy. although i wouldn't be mad to see her with barba tbh

Now I may get some hate for this, but as a fan of all the adaptations of L&O since I was a kid and then only exclusively watching SVU, I just never bought into the whole Benson and Stabler "ship". It seemed so out of place for me and I felt the writers did it so Chris (the actor who plays Stabler) could get more screen time to boost the stand alone show. 😔 I dunno...the whole love plot between them feels weird to me.
