The Summer Palace is an imperial garden of the Qing Dynasty (1636-1912) in #China. It is located in the western suburbs of #Beijing, 15 kilometers from the Chinese capital's downtown area. And as the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) calls it, it is "a masterpiece of Chinese landscape garden design."

It's a pity that athletes won't have the chance to travel in such beautiful tourist spots🇨🇳
But I'm pretty sure that they got the chance in the future~

History is so rich but yet they never learned a thing about suppression that can eventually lead to a collapsion of this dynasty..treating uyghur, treating Tibetan, even their own Chinese countrymen

Interesting backstory to why it still exists, is how the French, US and British forces wanted to burn the whole thing to ash. Russian expeditionary forces had to stare down the other powers, ending up guarding the palace. Think the other powers wanted to suck whole Beijing actually. Russian troops prevented it, but the allies took plunder as compromise with the Russians. It was that moment, then Russia realised 4 the first time, it needs China to survive as a power, to prevent Western influence. Kind of ironic.

You wonder why other countries invaded? The Chinese thought themselves as almost gods in the world going as far to torture and execute foreign delegations seeing themselves as exempt from reprisal

@@storm7090 MYASS..... white supremacist what it was,is and will be. China as a kingdom was sufficient. but the Brit who bought teas and paid in silver... the deficit was so huge..... so in order to make it " balanced " they gave Opium, the substance banned in UK. but forced the Chinese to take.
talk about that, was that humane. was drug trafficking legal ? legal as long as the user wasnt Brits.
