I used to watch IISuperwomanII everyday a few years back when she had about 300k-1mill subs. But after she became more and more mainstream and made these big elaborate sketches I lost interest. It wasn’t that funny anymore. I related more to her parent-sketches and listing types of people. She was really good at seeing funny quirks in people and exaggerate them. Her dog’s cute tho

Twaimz was having identities issues and Lohanthony just didn't know what type of content he wanted his youtube channel to be. Also, I think male gays becoming more popular on social media platforms probably hurt Lohanthony fame.
Not gonna say Troyler was Tyler Oakleys main thing but it really was tbh. Like back in 2013 everything was about Troyler or him fangirling. Then Troye kinda left TH-cam (and apparently they also had a fight or smth? or like connor franta had a fight with tyler? or smth? idk?) and Tyler couldn't really use him for views anymore and he stopped being as "relatable" in his fangirling. Like I think it's not a bad idea to talk about musicians etc in your videos and fangirl over them so that other ppl can relate but he so desperately wanted to be professional and rebranded and I think that just didn't work for him (also like massive probs to troye sivan, he' killing it outside of youtube rn)
For me I feel like superwoman lost a lot of traction when she became a full production with scriptwriters and producers, film crew and what not. Instead of just a simple video with her and maybe one other guest (like not 20 extras)
I half agree, when something like that was special on her channel like when she did the makeup spy series which I thought was really cool and original cause what a different way to do what everyone else does giving everyday styling and makeup tips. But then she went back to her just lily videos and that was great.

the only youtubers i stuck to for like 10 years and probably will until they'll stop are nigahiga and jenna marbles. i think jenna marbles is the perfect example of how the dying channels should have evolved and matured too

People watch him for creating unique content, for showing another side of youtube, for spilling the 'tea' on how much money youtubers actually have, for showing what they do on a daily bases, and for basically getting the information any other social media account isn't able to get (the jake paul alissa violet situation was all over social media and nobody was able to tell if any of it was actually true until Shane Dawson's documentary came out (same with his current girlfriend, can't remember her name). He reaches out to these youtubers and gets a glimpse of their actual lives because he is on youtube for so many years himself and they trust him. That's his guide to longevity, giving his viewers something nobody else can. And he is popular, one of the most popular youtubers right now, so I'm just pointing out the facts, nothing personal.
The reason why these channels are dying is because they are too professional, TH-cam was all about humble and real people, now everyone treats it like a job. That's why I think Jenner marbles does so well because she keeps it old school with the thumbnails and video quality
spot on!!! I stopped watching alot of my fav youtubers because of this. They get production teams and crews and editors to help them and it all starts to feel so artificial and they start to lose themselves ..which is a shame.

I think with Jenna too, she doesn't seem to really care about posting the Best, Most Perfect Video. TH-cam is a job for her but she treats it more like a fun hobby and it makes it enjoyable to watch her because it's real and genuine. We KNOW she's having fun and is just making whatever she wants to or enjoys and it makes it fun for us too.
and her videos are just repetitive, I dunno if she feels like she has to stick to a certain format or doesn't know what else to do... sad, I remember loving her videos and their high quality but like everyone else, I just matured
the problem with superwoman, if you look at her vlog channel, you can see just how overworked she is, she is very business focused and more concerned about being an entrepreneur rather than a creator on youtube. You can even see her struggle to make original, and exciting ideas for her channel, and instead sticks with basic, overdone ideas, practically recycling her jokes over and over again. IMO i think she needs to choose what she's more passionate about, being business focused or creative focused.
I used to watch her vlogs but stopped. I think she just compensates whatever is missing in her life (family that's far away, relationships, quality time with nature, etc) with work, hence there are no new ideas. I also find it slightly odd that every second dance move she did sometimes (maybe still does) was sexual. The girl just need an outlet, but it seems to hard for her to admit it.
You know what, there’s a trap on youtube. TH-camrs get super big , and get to work on mainstream stuff and forget about us, their fans. Then when their luck dies out, they try to come back like they didnt abondon their whole fandom for years so it crashes. As soon as I see a youtuber stop uploading, i just know they will be irrelevant in a few years, because we want to support them but when someone stops caring about their “customers” , we stop caring too. Exemple : tyler oakley, lily singh, grace helbig , zoella , soon will be Liza Koshy, etc. They all fall into the trap and i think its very dumb because young people watch youtube and not mainstream tv , so u gotta keep them in the loop if u wanna keep doing mainstream stuff Example : shane dawson never abondonned his fans and now he is the king
I don't remember Grace abandoning her fans though? She would still upload every week even though she was working on her E! show. I think her problem was/is that she never changed up her content, so people lost interest. Shane has done all types of content and navigated through trends, whereas Grace and other OG youtubers still do the same style content to this day.
Idk about everyone else but I know Lily never stopped uploading constantly. She religiously sticks to a schedule for both her vlogs and main channel, while auditioning for Hollywood roles. I personally think the problem is twofold. 1) She seems a bit less accessible now because she has a lot of super famous friends. Her content is relatable, but she isn't. I don't think it's her fault though. She's famous lol 2) Her content just isn't as good anymore for youtube. "That's so relatable" videos are more of an instagram thing. I personally think she rose to fame on the back of that relatability and is trying to ride that wave till it falls.
He's one of the first channels I subscribed to back in 2009/2010. I'm still subscribed to him now, and I still watch the content he uploads. I also think he's underappreciated. With all the quality and well-thought content he puts out, he deserves more views than he gets imo :(
I think that when something is more popular than another, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better. It just appeals to a larger audience. But all contexts are different.

100% agree. Plus I feel like her audience is pretty young, but she mixes in a lot of political messages into comedy and I feel like it is way too aggressive and not tactful at all. Plenty of big comedians use their platforms to say something political, and I don’t inherently see a problem with that, but she does it so poorly
It's kinda sad seeing these older TH-camrs dying but like it seems not many of them are switching content and basically more or less staying the same. I mean look at shane, once he changed up his content he got mad views and his channel thrived. Sticking with the same content isn't always the best.
Personally I think Jenna stays relevant because her fans grew up with her. Im not sure if she really brings in a new audiecne, but I know a LOT of her fans are ones who have known her for years. Im 18 and ive been watching her since I was like 12 or 13.. I watch her videos with my mum haha, we both love her
Tyler Oakleys career (for the height of it) was people shipping him with Troye Sivan, and when Troye started focusing on music and stayed in Australia, the ship clearly was over and people stopped watching. no tea no shade just facts

I love Lilly Singh, but I watch her channel really just out of hope and pity. I think she’s a wonderful woman, but her videos aren’t funny anymore. And now they’re all oddly sexual but it’s uncomfortable cuz I don’t feel she really knows what she’s talking about. But I turned off notifications for her.
For me I knew Tyler before Zoe, I actually found out about her because of him. I stopped watching him because he started to act like he was a celebrity (I mean like Hollywood celebrity) keeping too much and sharing only things like events and stuff like that. I started watching him for his personality and funny anecdotes of HIS life, not for dates of tours and short answers on his Q&As
I unsubbed after seeing several videos that included something along the lines of *WHILE HIGH*, but didn't watch after his ego inflated to "celebrity". Which sucked cause I used to love watching him but I just couldn't do it. I was just getting out of a friendship where my friend grew an addiction to weed (or to the feeling it gave him) and cheated on his gf and stole 1000$ from another friend to buy weed and harder drugs. So seeing someone I looked up to doing the same shit my friend did was kinda hard.
JoJo's hair line is perfectly fine she's a successful talented beautiful young girl with a wonderful family and massive fan base.. Maybe get a job an spend less time sat in your bedroom online bullying children its embarrassing!

I’ve loved Superwoman up to the video she called out a person that left a comment on one of her videos for giving her the wrong nationality or assumed her religion. But what I found funny is that she instantly thought that the person was a guy who was white. See the hypocrisy there. Ever since then, she gave a group of people (or something like that) and more people crap.
It would really be cool if you did some videos on how certain you tubers have managed to stay relevant, it would give a lot of insight on how to stay at the top as opposed to fizzling our like so many older youtubers

i have a feeling liza koshy is on this same train. sure she's doing amazing for the time being and is clearly focussing on being mainstream but her comedy style is too close to superwoman in my opinion and i just don't find them funny. the only reason i ever watched anything from her was because i heard how big she was getting.
Tbh I think that Liza is funnier. I used to watch ¡¡Superwoman!! But I quickly grew out of it. I don't think I've seen a video from her in more than a year. But Liza is funny when it comes to humor to watch to laugh at not because it's actually funny but it's so stupid it's funny.

You said you like to show their accomplishments too and i know this is a video about irrelevancy but she literally spoke at the United Nations General Assembly on UNICEF yesterday. She writes and produces her videos as if they're a movie, putting days/hours of work into each of them. She has worked with several celebrities (Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Will Smith, Selena Gomez, Chelsea Handler, Shay Mitchell, Dwayne Johnson, Justin Bladoni, John Legend, Hilary Duff, Charlize Theron etc.) Although you may think that's where her fame stems from, it really isn't. She also has accepted multiple teen choice awards, streamy awards, and an MTV Fandom award. She wrote a New York Times best selling book, has a lipstick line that is selling in mainstream stores, and a necklace brand all dedicated to women supporting women. She has also been on Jimmy Fallon in 2016 and 2017 and Jimmy Kimmel in May this year. Not to mention her cameos in multiple movies. Compared to most youtubers, she is by far exceeding them and constantly growing. It's not all in the numbers and analytics. I know you said she's not doing bad, but i don't think she really even belongs in this video at all. I really wouldn't have gone off this hard, but today is her birthday lol
Honestly, she should quit TH-cam and focus on her important real life work. Right now it seems that her YT career isn't her passion and she should stick to the important stuff, the other things--even though, unfortunately, the YT carreer is what /got/ her that to begin with. Unfortunately I see her as I do a bunch of celebrity figures: how genuine is the necklace brand? How genuine are the things she does? But that's just a byproduct of the times. Her change is tangible and that part cannot be argued, and her channel change, her content change, people no longer caring as much for her, is because of this. tldr -it'd be better if she left YT and focused on bigger things.

i used to love liza's videos but for some reason i stopped watching like a year and a half ago and the other day i tried to watch one and just couldn't, the puns were not funny and overall kinda cringe, idk, maybe i just grew out of it
People's interests shifted, but her content remained the same. The only "real" thing about her, in a way, was her relationship. That was the only reason I sometimes checked her channel, because I was curious on how they were doing. And then the break-up happened and after a few days where her fans "grieved", the whole thing and her just got washed out.
You should talk about Smosh, I feel like nobody's said a word about them in like. 5 or 6 years, and I can think of a couple reasons why, but they're still a GIANT channel/business, and they used to get like 5-10 million views at least per video so idk what happened to them
Ingrid Nilsen would be interesting because she did grow and change a lot, she is still likeable but people just don't watch her anymore. Including me! I used to watch her as I found her sweet, genuine and she made good content and trustworthy reviews. Later her videos become more sad toned, more serious and it didn't really provide escapism anymore. It went from a pick me up to a put me down and life being hard enough as it is, that was the last thing I needed.
I still watch some of her videos, but I know what you are talking about. I used to like her a lot and then videos started to get either too serious, or too sad or too sponsored. I understand she has to include ads to earn money, and I am not against it, but those videos started to be a regular thing and also looked very forced. I don't mind ads included in the video, where people show things they kind of enjoy and sound genuine, but when it sounds too fake and scripted... I'm out.

i stopped watching after he fought it out with 1D and then he got really into politics and it wasn't wrong but he's audience was still very young (i was) and some of us could't vote yet or didnt care much for it and he got really into and he used him being gay as an excuse for anything. Like if you didnt like him it was becuase he's gay or they didn't want him cause he's gay. My friends and I didn't like him anymore becuase he was annoying.

Saxon Hughes yeah, it’s also great to see how much she’s matured and changed as a person, and how her content has evolved around her. A lot of youtubers start with teenage fanbases, and I think it takes someone special (like Jenna or Shane) to keep that audience’s attention as they age. I also don’t think that high views matter as much as consistency - if you’re getting over a million, that’s great, and sure people like the Paul brothers can do 7 or 8 million now, but where will they be in 10 years?

The problem with superwoman is she’s very condescending. She doesn’t care if she loses subs because she thinks she’ll get more. She also makes quite racist videos that are subtle but noticeable and her sense of humor is that of a child. The problem I have with Tyler Oakley is that again he’s condescending and he lets his political views get in the way of being a good person. One of his tweets about republicans made me unfollow him and unsubscribe because it was offensive and clearly he thinks he’s a better person than everyone else.

Whether it’s “everyone” or not makes no difference. The groups she’s talking about are the oppressed ones, not the “whites” that’s she’s mad at.

For superwoman I think her content just gets kinda repetitive after you reach a certain point of binge watching her videos (which I did when I was 17 and kinda completely stopped watching afterwards). I think her demographic is ‘whoever finds her relatable’ which is clearly not anywhere near definitive but idk how else to put it lol. Btw I suggest nigahiga, he hasn’t been the most popular recently imo. And gurl you just sped through your makeup like WOOSH, I had to rewind to get the names of the lippie. His uploading schedule is also very tame and he takes his damn time to produce quality videos. Something that Lily barely comprehends. She values quantity over quality.

I think they'd like to move away from TH-cam with their live shows, podcasts, movies,books and all. Being their fan, I still very much love their content and I think other people who liked them still like them, they're just not attracting more new people.
I feel kinda sorry for superwoman because it’s obvious that she’s part of a talent group/management/etc that cater towards their main demographic- children/young teenagers. She’s a woman who’s nearly 30 and pretty much becoming a children’s entertainer, which I’m sure wasn’t her original goal? Idk. The only American TH-camrs I can think of that have been relevant their whole career is Rhett and Link! Their content has switched from musical comedy and skits to Good Mythical Morning but it still has their distinct comedy style. It probably helps that they’ve been mature adults through their whole career!!

All of these people are growing up AND so is their fan base. All of us - the kids who used to spend their life on TH-cam and love watching all of them are GROWN UP and we have lives and responsibilities so obviously, like you said, we have no time to watch adults doing, I'm sorry, shit that nobody else their age does. It's not relatable, it's not funny or interesting, why waste time on that.
I used to love lily about 4 years ago but i stopped watching her stuff in a while. But last week i got a vid of hers in my recommended and watched it and cringed so hard. i can't tell if i grew up or she got cringy?
honestly i love lilly, but yeah you're right she's a bit over the place with her demographic. I still feel like she's accomplished a lot as a youtuber though and I'm proud of her. Lately some of her stuff feels a bit overproduced and fake (like she's trying too hard to be RELATABLE or is clearly out of ideas sometimes lol).... but some of her recent videos still feel pretty genuine lol. As for her being "funny" or "not funny" i feel like that's pretty subjective. Like I've never found her HILARIOUS, or even super funny actually. But I've always liked her bright energetic personality, and she was just kind of fun to watch. Not necessarily funny... but fun and relatable.
When I was in year 5 my class had to create a presentation on a company, and I did Mac. (And at the time all the girls in my year thought that makeup was so cool) and the title of my presentation was “why Mac sucks” because they do animal cruelty. And I swear to god all the girls in my class straight up didn’t speak to me for a week
I think Lily just stuck to old school TH-cam style. Her videos have gotten a little longer but are still fairly short compared to a lot of people. They're full of jump cuts and are throwing information at you very fast. A lot of people grew out of that style as TH-cam aged but Lily is proof that it can still work if you're consistent and have a solid audience base

People watch him for creating unique content, for showing another side of youtube, for spilling the 'tea' on how much money youtubers actually have, for showing what they do on a daily bases, and for basically getting the information any other social media account isn't able to get (the jake paul alissa violet situation was all over social media and nobody was able to tell if any of it was actually true until Shane Dawson's documentary came out (same with his current girlfriend, can't remember her name). He reaches out to these youtubers and gets a glimpse of their actual lives because he is on youtube for so many years himself and they trust him. That's his guide to longevity, giving his viewers something nobody else can. And he is popular, one of the most popular youtubers right now, so I'm just pointing out the facts, nothing personal.
The reason why these channels are dying is because they are too professional, TH-cam was all about humble and real people, now everyone treats it like a job. That's why I think Jenner marbles does so well because she keeps it old school with the thumbnails and video quality

the problem with superwoman, if you look at her vlog channel, you can see just how overworked she is, she is very business focused and more concerned about being an entrepreneur rather than a creator on youtube. You can even see her struggle to make original, and exciting ideas for her channel, and instead sticks with basic, overdone ideas, practically recycling her jokes over and over again. IMO i think she needs to choose what she's more passionate about, being business focused or creative focused.

I used to watch her vlogs but stopped. I think she just compensates whatever is missing in her life (family that's far away, relationships, quality time with nature, etc) with work, hence there are no new ideas. You know what, there’s a trap on youtube. TH-camrs get super big , and get to work on mainstream stuff and forget about us, their fans. Then when their luck dies out, they try to come back like they didnt abondon their whole fandom for years so it crashes. As soon as I see a youtuber stop uploading, i just know they will be irrelevant in a few years, because we want to support them but when someone stops caring about their “customers” , we stop caring too.

I don't remember Grace abandoning her fans though? She would still upload every week even though she was working on her E! show. I think her problem was/is that she never changed up her content, so people lost interest. Shane has done all types of content and navigated through trends, whereas Grace and other OG youtubers still do the same style content to this day.

Idk about everyone else but I know Lily never stopped uploading constantly. She religiously sticks to a schedule for both her vlogs and main channel, while auditioning for Hollywood roles. I personally think the problem is twofold.
1) She seems a bit less accessible now because she has a lot of super famous friends. Her content is relatable, but she isn't. I don't think it's her fault though. She's famous lol
2) Her content just isn't as good anymore for youtube. "That's so relatable" videos are more of an instagram thing. I personally think she rose to fame on the back of that relatability and is trying to ride that wave till it falls.

He's one of the first channels I subscribed to back in 2009/2010. I'm still subscribed to him now, and I still watch the content he uploads. I also think he's underappreciated. With all the quality and well-thought content he puts out, he deserves more views than he gets imo :(
I think that when something is more popular than another, it doesn’t necessarily mean that it’s better. It just appeals to a larger audience. But all contexts are different.

She also has accepted multiple teen choice awards, streamy awards, and an MTV Fandom award. She wrote a New York Times best selling book, has a lipstick line that is selling in mainstream stores, and a necklace brand all dedicated to women supporting women. She has also been on Jimmy Fallon in 2016 and 2017 and Jimmy Kimmel in May this year. Not to mention her cameos in multiple movies. Compared to most youtubers, she is by far exceeding them and constantly growing. It's not all in the numbers and analytics. I know you said she's not doing bad, but i don't think she really even belongs in this video at all.

Honestly, she should quit TH-cam and focus on her important real life work. Right now it seems that her YT career isn't her passion and she should stick to the important stuff, the other things--even though, unfortunately, the YT carreer is what /got/ her that to begin with.
Unfortunately I see her as I do a bunch of celebrity figures: how genuine is the necklace brand? How genuine are the things she does? But that's just a byproduct of the times. Her change is tangible and that part cannot be argued, and her channel change, her content change, people no longer caring as much for her, is because of this.
tldr -it'd be better if she left YT and focused on bigger things.

People's interests shifted, but her content remained the same. The only "real" thing about her, in a way, was her relationship. That was the only reason I sometimes checked her channel, because I was curious on how they were doing. And then the break-up happened and after a few days where her fans "grieved", the whole thing and her just got washed out.
You should talk about Smosh, I feel like nobody's said a word about them in like. 5 or 6 years, and I can think of a couple reasons why, but they're still a GIANT channel/business, and they used to get like 5-10 million views at least per video so idk what happened to them

Ingrid Nilsen would be interesting because she did grow and change a lot, she is still likeable but people just don't watch her anymore. Including me! I used to watch her as I found her sweet, genuine and she made good content and trustworthy reviews. Later her videos become more sad toned, more serious and it didn't really provide escapism anymore. It went from a pick me up to a put me down and life being hard enough as it is, that was the last thing I needed.

I still watch some of her videos, but I know what you are talking about. I used to like her a lot and then videos started to get either too serious, or too sad or too sponsored. I understand she has to include ads to earn money, and I am not against it, but those videos started to be a regular thing and also looked very forced. I don't mind ads included in the video, where people show things they kind of enjoy and sound genuine, but when it sounds too fake and scripted... I'm out.

A lot of youtubers start with teenage fanbases, and I think it takes someone special (like Jenna or Shane) to keep that audience’s attention as they age. I also don’t think that high views matter as much as consistency - if you’re getting over a million, that’s great, and sure people like the Paul brothers can do 7 or 8 million now, but where will they be in 10 years?

The problem with superwoman is she’s very condescending. She doesn’t care if she loses subs because she thinks she’ll get more. She also makes quite racist videos that are subtle but noticeable and her sense of humor is that of a child. The problem I have with Tyler Oakley is that again he’s condescending and he lets his political views get in the way of being a good person. One of his tweets about republicans made me unfollow him and unsubscribe because it was offensive and clearly he thinks he’s a better person than everyone else.

Their content has switched from musical comedy and skits to Good Mythical Morning but it still has their distinct comedy style. It probably helps that they’ve been mature adults through their whole career!!

honestly i love lilly, but yeah you're right she's a bit over the place with her demographic. I still feel like she's accomplished a lot as a youtuber though and I'm proud of her. Lately some of her stuff feels a bit overproduced and fake (like she's trying too hard to be RELATABLE or is clearly out of ideas sometimes lol).... but some of her recent videos still feel pretty genuine lol.
As for her being "funny" or "not funny" i feel like that's pretty subjective. Like I've never found her HILARIOUS, or even super funny actually. But I've always liked her bright energetic personality, and she was just kind of fun to watch. Not necessarily funny... but fun and relatable.
When I was in year 5 my class had to create a presentation on a company, and I did Mac. (And at the time all the girls in my year thought that makeup was so cool) and the title of my presentation was “why Mac sucks” because they do animal cruelty. And I swear to god all the girls in my class straight up didn’t speak to me for a week
I think Lily just stuck to old school TH-cam style. Her videos have gotten a little longer but are still fairly short compared to a lot of people. They're full of jump cuts and are throwing information at you very fast.
A lot of people grew out of that style as TH-cam aged but Lily is proof that it can still work if you're consistent and have a solid audience base
And she laughs forcibly while ranting in her videos.
