One of the most beloved and interesting changes from the comics. I can still hear TAS Kingpin shouting 'SMYTHE!' when something goes wrong for them perfectly. Always wanted to see an interpretation where Smythe is introduced as a schoolmate of Peter, and naturally an intellectual rival lacking Peter's characteristic humility.
Me to. I've always had a soft spot for some of the more obscure characters in comic books. I've always thought that, with perhaps some fine-tuning here and there, they could actually have a lot of potential.
Absolutely loved the character Alistair Symthe and his reasoning behind working for hands down one of the best Spider-Man villains the Kingpin, building the spider slayers and eventually ended up becoming one as with Kingpin’s frustrations with Symthe’s failures
Interestingly, Smythe's fate was accidentally spoiled years before he became a Spider-Slayer when they were promoting the toys and showed pictures of his figure.
@@striderreborn1467 that’s right I saw toys of him but had no clue it was going do with the cartoon series same goes for billionaire version of Spider-Man in that armoured suit
I don't think any superhero has such an awesome array of villains that Spiderman and Batman have as nemesis ! They both have the best antagonists ever created.
Alistair and Kingpin was a fun duo in the show. Landon was´t as likeable but he served his role when Alistair left him and funny enough started working for Silvermane. And then during the Wedding episode he designed his Goblin-Warriors to help Harry Osborn as Green Goblin get Mary Jane. And Kingpin reactivated the Mega-Slayer and toke care of them. Sloppy of Smythe to get beaten by his own design 2 seasons ago. And ofcourse the Secret Wars when he was picked as a Villian he was soon under Red Skull to work for him when he only wanted to leave and get back to his father. And finally the Smythe from another dimension with Spider-Carnage.
A live action Smythe and Kingpin alliance would be great as long as the writing is competent and the characters are handled with respect. Obviously, the right actor for Smythe would be key. The character won't work if Disney gets James Corden to play him.
Thank you for making this video! I remember smythe with the weird body and shoulder thingys but couldn’t remember his origin and didn’t have the time to rewatch everything so this video is just perfect to remind me and fills me with so much nostalgia 😊

Actually as one thing to point out, Smythe was already left paralized from a previous lab accident which his father blamed himself for, this was why he first worked for the Kingpin before his own 'Death' in the show. (Spoilers)
that was the 90's cartoon version in the comics; Alistair was crippled in his first battle with Spider-Man while piloting the Spider Slayer Mark 7 in the Amazing Spider-Man 1 video game, Alistair was crippled when he injected himself with an imperfect cure to the Cross-Species Virus he was infected with, which also cost him his sanity
Smythe was not crippled in the same explosion that killed his father. Alistair was crippled years earlier in a lab explosion his father felt responsible for.
