    As the most popular B&O speakers ever, Beolab 6000 and 8000 are likely to be most people's introduction to Bang & Olufsen. This video lets you hear both speakers for yourself and gives you helpful advice so that you can make the right choice. Steve has not been paid to make this video, so you will always hear Steve's own opinions on this channel. The Beolab 6000 speakers featured in this video were provided free for review by www.beobuyer.co.uk and no payment or inducement was given to feature the speakers or mention the company. Steve only mentions businesses and products on this channel that he is happy to recommend personally.

    The 6000's are a great speaker for easy listening but need a subwoofer for heavyer work. The 8000's can hold their own really well, and really pack a punch for their size. I have the 8000's and I love them, and that design will NEVER go out of style

      once you buy a set of BL6000s or BL8000s, have them checked for foam rot. my BL6000s (bought new in 1992: 5500 guilders/€2500 a pair) were renovated by a friend's brother, also the BL8000s were checked and renovated. now both sound like new. it was worth every cent!. the BL6000 have a black front, the BL8000s are red. you can't get the same quality speakers for the money i spent on renovation.

      I am in Finland and tho most Speakers are more expensive here, compered to what I have noticed in most other countries. But the BL 8000 mk1 goes for 450-600 euro good looking used. So is that normal price, or have they just gone under the radar here and people just dont know what they are worth?

    Hi, thank you for video. I totally agree with you with respect deeper base but also with respect that it depends on your preferences. My first B&O speakers where the 6000 and I still have them and use in my home office. I really like them and think they sound crisper and clear than the 8000 speakers. Today I have two pairs of 6000 and two pairs of 6002. In one of the roomed I have combined the 6002 with BL 2 and a BV 11-55. I never owned the 8000 speakers, so I am probably biased towards the 6000. I really liked your explanation /statement that two or three pairs of 6000 speakers combined with a sub can fill the room with sound of music😃

Where you would have to add a expensive subwoofer to the 8000's to get anywhere close. And I course of subwoofers probably a hell of a lot lower than what the pentas can do but you don't need a subwoofer with a pentas for some reason?? Hey Steve, thanks for the vid. I have a 2005 (or 2006) Avant 32 DVD that I use for my laserdiscs. As you prolly know many have very dynamic soundmixes and the tv by itself makes the sound go partially around the room at times, but I’m looking to enhance the experience a bit with a set of Beolab speakers. At first I was planning to get 2 pairs of 8000’s but after watching this vid I’m maybe thinking of going the 8000 + 6000 way. Not sure about getting a subwoofer yet as I read I can use the center speaker of the tv for that.

      These are great speakers! The successor to Beolab 8000 (Beolab 18) is still made). In some of the pictures, the speakers aren't yet connected, so you won't see the wires in every part of the video. The Beolab 6000’s come in two flavours (Mark 1 and Mark 2). I would take a set of 6000 Mk2 over the 8000’s any time. Identical 3d imaging, but with less midband colorations, plenty of bass compared to the dry Mk1’s.

    we have 2x6000 and 2x8000 with a beovision avant combined with a subwoofer from b&o (think beosound 2?) in our living room, two 6000 in the bedroom from my parents, 1 x6000 in like a random room with a billiard table and 4x8000 in our garage. we dont really use them (im the only one who uses them) and my grandparenta havee 2x 6and8000 with a 6disk cd player allso from b&o. only like two years ago i realised that bang&olufsen is one of the best manufactues to ever exist. hmmm…. bang&olufsen - this name is burned into my head. In our other home we got some more speakers (more speakers than our primary home) from b&o, wich let the whole house vibrate. im sorry but i am in love with b&o. In all honesty, a 20 year old (exept beovision avant, wich replaced an even older tv from b&o) sound system, that still costs more than a modern car (im counting all the speakers and tvs from both homes and stuff) is just unbelievable. i cant find any words to express my self. Regarding the speaker cone surrounds. Are all 8000s with rubber surrounds on the cones and 6000s with foam? I've only seen a few speakers without the grilles, and in them all 8000s had rubber in good condition while the 6000s had foam in varying condition.

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know all the 8000s use rubber cone surrounds, which don't degrade. The Beolab 6000 speaker woofers also do not use foam rings. From new, the speaker surrounds are a very flexible, thin rubber which do not suffer from foam rot. However, the rubber surrounds can harden and split with age, which can cause the sound quality to deteriorate.

      Hi, I agree, Penta are a much more powerful speaker than Beolab 8000 and they are also my favourite. There is a 3-position level control on the hinged panel at the front of each Penta speaker, so you can turn the speaker volume up or down to match the other speakers that you are using.

    i have both sets in my living room, connected to a BV7-40 with BeoSound 7-2 soundbar and BeoSound2 subwoofer. (the beolab3s and the Beosound7-1's are 'parked' in one of the bedrooms, to be setup in my bed room, later on) when i switch from Speaker3 (BL8000+Beosound7 and Beosound2) to Speaker 4 (BL8000+BL4000+Beosound7 and Beosound2), it is noticeable that the subwoofer takes over more bass from the rest. what i find questionable is 'Speaker5" which is supposed to be the surround setting, in this setting, the BL6000 are the surround speakers, but i don't notice any surround effects, although they work on a very low volume. on the plus side: in the setup, i only need 1 Powerlink cable from the tv to a BL6000, the other BL6000 is 'linked through' from the first one. with the BL8000 and the BL3, that is not possible). i still have to figure out how to integrate the BeoLab3500 (for my garage/workshop) into the setup, and maybe the BeoLab3s for a Dolby7.1-setup...but where to put all the wiring... :-D

    • @soundsheavenly
      @soundsheavenly  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi,
      Yes, I can help! Basically, you have three options if you wish to use the speakers with a non-B&O TV:-
      1) Connect two Beolab speakers to the headphone socket of the TV for stereo sound, with volume control from the TV remote, or
      2) Connect the TV and all of the Beolab speakers to the Beocenter music system for stereo sound through all speakers, with volume control from the B&O remote, or
      3) Add an external AV receiver with pre-out sockets (expect to pay from around £500 GBP in the UK) to allow all of the speakers to be connected for full surround sound with control from the receiver remote control.
      I can (of course!) provide cables for any of the above options. If you can please let me know via the contact page at soundsheavenly.com which is your preferred option, I will be pleased to advise on the cabling required.
