  • Why does this Richard Mille cost $325,000? Five years ago, it was a $100,000 watch. Today it’s over three times that. Why?

Richard Mille: we only make 5000 watches a year, so supply is very limited.
Also Richard Mille: half of our watches we make we give to every living breathing celebrity to help us with marketing.

It was audacious and brilliant to make a new watch brand whose principal attraction is that is ridiculously expensive and overpriced. No need to slowly build up a brand's prestige over the decades and more than a century; just make is super expensive from the get go, and give it a look similar to a metal G-shock, and the "more money than brains" crowd" (of which there are too many these days) would buy it compulsively simply to show off their enormous wealth.

Confirmed. I wrote in another comment that the FIA and medical staff were even making a safety point out of Lewis Hamilton's nose piercing and earrings.
Besides: Don't forget that the first thing that drivers do when they get out of the car and congratulate the team is take a swig of water, dry their face, put on their cap and *put on their watch* . No driver is allowed to drive with a watch.

Really less “stunning & brave” and more “craven & debauched”. All they did was piggyback on the rise of flex culture, and the luxury watch market’s part in that, and design a status symbol that could be easily picked up by any camera…and satellite. Their marketing is a modern interpretation of Rolex’s original marketing; get your watch on the wrist of the heroic & capable of the day (except in the on-demand media age, mere claims weren’t gonna cut it). They made the 0.01% watch. Nothing really brilliant about it, just a moderate understanding of status & those who crave it.

Not respect is too harsh not really what I meant. I don't disrespect them. I just meant I don't care about them and find their entire industry to be annoying. Just like Christmas is.

Can't believe people still wear watches. Why lug something around on your wrist when you can just take a quick look at your phone. Silly junk for wealthy individuals to impress the easily impressed.

More expensive watch doesnt mean better watch. Complete garbage for the value for any idiot who buys this watch imo. Even amazon billionaire only wears a $5000 breitling watch and ceo of toyota wears grand seiko watch. Invest is a joke for this watch 😂

I think tuder black bay 58-54, longenes are all brilliant value watches and a good old Seiko for knocking about in 👍🏻.
Ps Tissot prx 80 automatic bit overdone but ok for the money , but I think i would give the prx digital a miss 🤮.

@@DainSmart-vm7pc Can’t deny Longines value. I moved from a Hydroconquest to a Breitling Superocean. The Breitling is better in every way but only by a very small margin, yet cost 3 x the price. I think that Longines is the sweet spot but sooner or later you get the urge to get something better, but you’ll have to pay for it.
