The decision not to spend a lot of time on Chadwick was most likely done so that it wouldn’t seem like they’re profiting off of his death. I don’t think a lot of people realize how hard it was to pull this movie off without offending someone. It was a monumental task.
@@former_dmcrt8614 if he wasn’t already “Kang” he would be prefect. I think John David Washington would do good too, especially with a little extra muscle on him.
M'Baku is definitely a very interesting character and has a lot of potential to be a cool hero if given the proper attention and direction. There's definitely a large hole or void in the MCU without Chadwick's T"Challa, M'Baku definitely can't replace T'Challa, but he could help fill the void of T'Challa's absence.
It's not just Chadwick that's missing. Ita positive male role models. It's in Disney's agenda to replace all legacy male characters with mantle carrying female versions or knock offs. They are using characters from the comics that were not successful. Every popular character has DECADES of good stories that movies could be made for years to come. But everything since end game has been missing the mark of expectations.
It's more disrespectful to not allow T'Challa to continue in the movies. Was Chadwick amazing as BP? 100% yes. Does his death require that a fictional character he played also die? 100% No. This was a terrible decision by Marvel to not recast him.
On the flip side that other actor would always be compared to C. Boseman which would have been a disservice to both. Plus the actors/actresses & RC wanted to honor C. Boseman. At least now, a path can be clear to another T'Challa. Hopefully not 5-7 years, though KF may be thinking Young Avengers cameo as a possibility.
Great review! Instead of saying Wakanda Forever is the best or the worst, you balance it perfectly. Comparing to Captain America: Civil War is brilliant. I grew up reading Black Panther and worried about him being introduced in Civil War. It worked because the conflict between Steve and Tony over freedom vs security was set in at least 3 prior movies; who would choose which side was also set. To destroy the Avengers Zemo assassinates King T'Chaka and frames Bucky, putting T'Challa at the center of the story and making him the wild card too. Perfect and organic! A major problem with Wakanda Forever is that Marvel never set up the major conflict properly so it has to pack it all in here, and you're right, it's why Namor's motivation doesn't make sense. It then adds a bunch of new female characters to promote future TV shows and neglects already existing male characters. What you get is a film called "Wakanda Forever" that doesn't spend nearly enough time on T'Challa or on Wakanda.
Disney is an uncaring behemoth. I had mixed feelings about recasting T'Challa after Chadwick Boseman's tragic death but how many Black superheroes does Marvel have, let alone one like Black Panther? Zero. T'Challa is King. Chadwick being T'Challa; Noble, Wise, Warrior King, Protector of Wakanda, made recasting challenging. Now that Wakanda Forever is out I wish they'd recast. The corporate heads said: "It's tragic Chadwick died, but the upside is we can make an all female Black Panther sequel; we couldn't if Chadwick lived or we recast." Sounds cynical but true.
@@boba6890 And when that movie fails to turn a decent profit because they've alienated nearly half the male audience? Oh yeah, they'll pretend it was because racist/misogynists . It could never be their own fault.
Just being real, from the way you've talked about this film from last night to now, Idk how you can bring yourself to pay to see it two more times. I respect you for wanting to give it a chance to change your mind/shift feelings a bit, but I haven't seen this level of passion/sheer disappointment from you in a minute.
Wow, I was thinking the same (paying for it twice to three times). Maybe taking more time for it (the movie) to sink in mentally. From the main original character ⚰️🪦 to the cast and director. Along with what it would've been like to have a recasting of the original character. On the flip side Maybe he just really liked/loved the film.
The film had gone through a lot behind the scenes not just with Chadwick dying but with the issues of Leticia Wright not being vaccined...almost fired and getting injured on set and reshooting scenes and pushing the release date back a couple of times.
You realize everyone has different opinions right? Some ppl love it some ppl only like it. Some ppl think it’s better than the first. Some think it’s not as good.
literally that’s what we all wanted. we know he survives after the 5 years. leaves the door open for a new actor to take up T’Challa’s mantle in due time. but nope. they chose to go this weird route. it is what it is 🤷🏾♂️
I just saw this movie lastnight and I expressed similar qualms to my bf as we were leaving the theater . I also felt that Black Panthers death was glazed over . And the Taloquin storyline was so prominent I forgot all about Wakanda at times . The mid credit scene was abysmal . I give this movie a solid 7/10. Great review as always Brandon ! I feel your pain
It sucks they killed him in the movie exactly how he died in real life which I found disrespectful. The fact he is a super human that lives in a highly advanced technological nation died from a virus didn’t sit right with me he should damn near be more immune to diseases that’s almost like saying Superman died from diabetes.
One of the hilarious scenes in the first BP was when Winston Duke's character, M'Baku threatened to feed the character Everett Ross to his warriors if he didn't stay in his lane. It was tense. Then he suddenly broke out laughing and told him- "just kidding, we are vegetarians." Wiston's chatacter should have gotten way more screen time in the 2nd movie, as his character shined so much in the first. So far, for whatever reason, I do not feel so motivated to see this movie as soon as it comes out, as I did the 1st one.
Good review B Avery. It's disappointing that T’Challa is expendable to the MCU, it’s odd that they can recast Thunderbolt Ross, but can’t separate Chadwick from the character.
Not at all. Ross was a relatively minor character who was not the face of a franchise. T'Challa who embodied features of Boseman was. The two are not comparable at all.
@@jasondavis2995 ok, so it's too soon to recast T’Challa, but William Hurt isn't too soon, yet he recently passed away, but Ross's story continues, for further projects, so he can play a pivotal role in the next phase. 🤔
@@Roverde if T’Challa was the face of the franchise, why Is he so expandable? It doesn’t matter if Ross was major or minor, that actor was in multiple films as Ross, and his character is important to the future of their storytelling they cast Harrison ford
Sounds like the movie is the equivalent to the 93-94 bulls without Jordan. Didn’t win the championship but the supporting cast stepped up big time to have a successful semi final playoff run.
@@chination1796 I haven’t seen the movie yet but based on the reviews it seems very close. Pippen is Ramonda as in both gave MVP/Oscar worthy performance. Ryan is Phil showing he can win despite not having his super star. Shuri and Nakia are Horace and BJ. Two role players who made the all star team for the first time. RiRi is Toni, the rookie 6th man getting buckets.
I don't know what happens in the film, but in the comics Namor is a relatively stable ruler but he is manipulated into war with Wakanda by Dr. Doom because Dr. Doom wanted the vibranium. Why not just do that?
Marvel made it apparent what their agenda was and is. They planned to always showcase the female characters. That was in rumors before Chadwick even passed. Unfortunately, all the Black men seem to take backseats in the MCU. Even in first one there wasn’t enough focus on T’Challa himself or Wakanda. We never saw his intelligence or cunning, or what’s actually happening in Wakanda. They seemed to still make them seem so primitive compared to the comics.
Which is what? Making movies? They dont have an agenda. Get the tin foil off your head and quit looking into things so deep, its making you actually stupid. js.
Looks like Larry was right B.Avery. I knew this would disappoint as a comic reader for decades to have a important character brought to life on the screen and then snuffed out simply because the actor portraying him no longer could is a real let down and slap in the face. As a black man who's enjoyed comics as I said for decades, I know how few heroes there has been that has reached the prominent level of the Black Panther. It's r early sad.
Call me cynical but heres how it looks to me as a black man. The first Black Panther was a massive hit and success and exactly Chadwick Boseman as straight black man played a prominent strong straight Black superhero, they saw the upliftment it did for all Black people including men. When William Hurt died they recasted Thunderbolt Ross with Harrison Ford quick. Now look at what they did decide to do, replace 1 strong Black man with 3 or 4 Black women!

@@bobbycecere1037 Nah that's the problem doing weird unnecessary shite when they have everything they need already. Either multiverse or through someone's sacrifice revive him...but his son would not be T'Challa.
I agree with Brandon they could recast T'Challa Chadwick would never want the character to end with him look at the actors who played Superman after Christopher Reeves died they didn't retire that character they could've done the same with T'Challa. They can still bring him back like bring in another T'Challa from the multiverse where his Wakanda has been destroyed, he lost his family he's alone & broken but when he's brought into another universe where his homeland & family are still alive he has a chance to make Wakanda much stronger & build a new life for himself. Another point by Brandon they should've made a Namor solo movie before he collides with Wakanda.
@@serenityq26 Well too bad I don't want T'Challa Jr I want the original as I said earlier we got to spend several years with Tony we could've had the same with T'Challa.
The problem is that Disney rushed to get this film on the market for the purpose of advancing phase-4. I didn’t like idea that a small sized, a rookie female shuri would fight against Namor and win 1v1. It kills me to say that I’m disappointed. They desperately tried to replicate all iron man scenes in the cave, peter parker first recruit and all. It’s an exact rewrite and rehash of older films. Smh Disney.
Shuri didn't win in the movie. I was so relieved that she's really weak when she's fighting namor in "that" scene. Shuri beat him in IQ and she has time to counter him because Namor still has "mercy" to them. Ironheart has a better at least for me in recruiting or introduction. I couldn't believe that I was so attached to her when watching the movie, maybe because she's not useless. I got mix feelings in the ending. Still 9/10.
@@slowedmusic7554 not for me. Ironheart was a cheap attempt in copying Iron Man. The metal works, the suit, the scenes, the shades every single thing was from iron man 1. It’s so sad.. like why can’t they just write better scenes for them? Seriously
The Witcher is now played by Liam Hemsworth, and now everyone is crying about how Henry Cavill was recast. Imagine what’s going to happen to whoever replaces Chadwick as Tchalla

After listening to the soundtrack, my first thought was it was heavy on the Spanish tracks. That made me think the movie was going to concentrate more on the new tribe, which your review just proved for me lol. Thanks for the honest reason B!
Not going to lie tired of the Inclusive, Black and Brown narrative. I'm from South Central Los Angeles and we have had our issues with them. Most of the country knows about Los Angeles city Council Racist scandal, involving four Latino members. Individually there are relationships, but as a whole this Black and Brown thing has been one sided in a general sense. Historically nationwide we have done the work, and others haven't. While others not just Latinos have benefitted from our work, without reciprocating. We always have to include others. They didn't have to make Namor or whatever they're calling him Latino.
Same thing I've been saying this is no way a disrespect toward Latin America but we as black folks need to stop with the black and brown conversation. Like you just said it's one sided Ryan Coolger is from Oakland so he's been around Latino and that's fine but that so called black and brown integration is a myth. Now me if I would had made black panther 2 namor would have been Asian to touch on the neo colonialism of China... But oh well.🙄
@@questiontheknowledge7354 You're the second person who said Namor, should have been Asian or that in the comic he has more Asian like features. When I look at the comics I can see what they're talking about. Neo-colonialism is a good angle. As far as Ryan Coogler being in Oakland. There has been a marked difference in the relationship between Black/Brown in Northern California, as opposed to Southern California.
I actually enjoyed the subtext of Black/Brown politics in this movie. But exactly for all the reality you find problematic. There is some friction between the two communities and the work in reality hasn’t been done in The U.S. to build any so called alliance. That said, the Latino community as robust in numbers is the electorate on the rise in this country. I thought it was somewhat subversive teasing the collective power of both. Falling into war but ultimately choosing peace. Tbh, these are direct narratives in reality I think America fears. MAGA definitely doesn’t want a Black/Brown political alliance. And considering who actually benefits from pitting the two communities against each other as the country’s demographics change?!?!! Like I said, the racial subtext to this movie seemed pointedly rooted in reality Just as the first one did examining the difference in narrative for Africans vs African Americans, historically.
Maybe Namor didn't have good motivations because he's so old he thinks in that ancient mentality. Ancient cultures were prone to go into war rather than working out societal problems.
Yep. I just saw it and they seem to have some kind of healing factor... it was a bit weird that they came up with measures to equal the playing field with speed and strength but did nothing about how they can just get back up minutes after you cut their bellies open... strange oversight but whatever
It's been known for a while that the folks at Disney aren't really, how can I put this, male friendly when it comes to how they portray their characters and the irony of this is the reason Disney bought Marvel and Lucas Film was to supplement a young boy audience they didn't have and were having trouble getting. What's even MORE ironic? I'm a woman and noticed this and dislike it because the people pushing for this tend to believe people only like characters that are exactly like them so they don't want to harbor the idea of female audiences liking male characters that AREN'T pushed to the back. We actually like competent male characters not just for whatever moral or social reasoning but just because we liked to be entertained. More on that note, I also don't like the implications that Black boys can't have their own heroes. People act like the idea of male and female characters can't be strong TOGETHER and so do that pushing back you mentioned but all it does is push boys out of an area they were having fun in which is wrong. Like I said, why is the idea of sharing a space so hard to do because BOTH sides would get their heroes but instead the filmmakers just lessen the presence of Black male heroes in a time where I constantly hear 'we need them more than ever'. If this is true, stop doing this. It's great that girls have their heroes bit that should not come at the cost of boys having theirs lessened. Trust me, I was hyped for more M'Baku but....yeah, no. Big no. It's bad that this movie is being made in bad graces yo Chadwick's family and his own requests to keep T'Challa going but I don't have the energy to pretend to be hyped for a character I LOVE to see him treated like an afterthought in the wind. Disney knows what they're doing and they don't care about the impact T'Challa had on actual people. Just what the superficial image of a fantasy Africam culture can bring them in terms of money. If they cared about all the good graces and stuff, they would have recasted because like a lot of people have said, T'Challa was a hero for a lot of folks and treating him like a mantle to be passed around while not returning in full for the hole left by him is just hoping to get money in the look, not what people got from the first film. Tl:dr- I'm used to Disney clowning their male heroes at this point bit there's something extra fucked about it now, mostly because it feels like they took advantage of an actual death to 'replace'.
Stupid you are. 1. Not male friendly? Daredevil will have 18 episodes more than all the female led shows. Tony ans Cap were and to many still are the faces of the franchise, who are both men. Regarding black superheroes, they have a black wonderman, Ali as blade, Miles as spiderman, and even made Kang, one of the most powerful characters ever, a black man. You cant be selective in what you write online to fit your emotional narrative.
@@Roverde I'm not being selective but I am being OBSERVANT, which is something you clearly aren't given by YOUR emotional launch in the replies. They didn't have to kill T'Challa at all because they're well aware of his popularity among Black fans as well as how popular he was with boys. The fact that you suggest they just 'go somewhere else' while these characters just get pushed to the side is part of the problem because what about the folks who LIKED T'Challa? Telling them to 'just move on' is a great way of losing a base which is what is happening because they keep forgetting the profit they can get by giving people what they want and people WANTED T'Challa. Even Chadwick's family wanted T'Challa but they made the choice NOT to continue on with his character because they felt there was no other way to prop up their replacements, even though it could have been just as fine WITH T'Challa remaining in the series. The 'just go somewhere else' mentality that you're showing is why Marvel has been slipping. You don't value the characters nor do you value their fans. Thank you Mr. Avery for your opinion. I like some of your opinions, but will keep an open mind while watching. And I am with you. The T'challa character should have been kept with a new actor. T'challa is too important to the MCU right now as a leader, especially with Secret Wars coming.
I just realized something. The anti recast people say it would be hard and disrespectful to have recast, but Chadwick died and this cast and crew have push to kill the character. So the whole world has had to deal with 2 deaths. Wow. Good trade off Marvel. Thank you.

It’s like Disney is incapable of putting men and women on an equal footing, giving them both the same presence and screen time. They just can’t do it. It’s hard enough for them to pull off a good male centric film, this movie should have been one or two shows in the middle of two movies. To build up characters instead of making a long movie with more acting than action. I don’t need to sit there 3 hours for this. For endgame, yes, but this I could have enjoyed more over a much longer time spread out in shows and movies. Keep the movies compact and full of thrills.
If the Queen hadn't died or if we didn't introduce Ri Ri we could have used that time to better put together Shuris transition to the new Black Panther, by the time she did it in the movie it felt like we missed a beat, she actually really liked Namor, you can't tell me any different they were both so pleasant and diplomatic and empathetic to each other. Her mom dying right after TChalla, she would have been in no shape for anything. MBaku should have taken the mantel of King alot sooner if they were gonna go that route. Idk it's just kind of a mess man, like whooray we got a movie that honors the initial actor for the role but we still kinda got a mid movie as far as a sequel goes. If you completely removed the context of real life events that happened and they still made this exact movie everyone would be calling it terrible a whole ass flop, but for that exact reason is why I would have just preferred a recast because I really loved Chadwick in the role but I also wanted more TChalla the King in the MCU as Black Panther and if they went with another actor I feel we could have gotten a movie that was a lot more put together/consistent with it's tones and setups/payoffs.
On the M-she-U... Well, nobody can't deny it anymore really... Clint Barton being sidestepped on his own show for a brand new female character. David Harbour's Red Guardian, who's supposed to be this badas$ Russian Cap, was literally made into a dumb punching bag. Thor HAS been made into a complete muscle-headed JOKE. T'Challa's permanently KILLED OFF. Hulk..has yet returned to his best savage old self. Quicksilver's killed off, again, seemingly permanently. Doctor Strange (potential THE SORCERER SUPREME) is made to be way weaker than the Scarlet Witch Wong (the actual sorcerer supreme, in the MCU) is nothing but a pathetic sitcom sidekick character. M'Baku...sidelined. I think they SHOULD turn him bad. ... if they keep this up... The wider audience just might move over to the new and improved DCU.
I'm as uninterested in returning to a Wakanda void of T'Challa as I'm uninterested in returning to a Gotham void of Bruce Wayne. Also, the further subordination of masculine male characters to their female counterparts, has me completely checked out of the M[she]U. I only retain my Disney+ subscription for Andor and a few Star Wars series.
Its most definitely the M-She-U now , like marvel and Disney execs even stated they were pushing more towards that agenda which kind of kills the movies
Thanks for the honesty fam. A truly good movie isn't divisive. No one is on the fence about The Dark Knight or Blade 2 or the first Iron Man movie. If you feel unsettled in your opinion that's because something in the narrative is extremely flawed and it's keeping it from being universally loved. If you have to overanalyze and push yourself towards a certain acceptable opinion then a thing isn't good or at the very least not good to you and you're entitled to not like that thing.
This is not true. A good movie can be divisive, weather it is for it's artistic taste like Joker and Split or cultural commentary, or how explicit it gets. Some times the debate sparked by the movie can be a good thing.
Thanks for the review. I already planned on giving this a miss, and maybe catch it on Disney +. But I might miss it outright. Black trauma has always been a trigger for me. I don't need it in my super hero films.
I’m sorry what? No. Don’t miss this movie period. You haven’t even seen the movie yet so how would you know if it’s a miss or not? You have to see the movie for yourself.
Black trauma or Black reality, then you need to stay in the house under your bed and not watch the News or social media. And do not read a comic book, ever!
I'm so glad that you kept it real, I don't think I'm going to see it. Men (black) are not being in the right shine, but the woman are all shine and then some. I need my black men shine as strong, confident and leaders.
Ryan Coogler will put his foot in the cinematic side doesn't mean we all have to agree with the direction because killing T'Challa just felt like something that should have been a strong NO from Marvel period. I'm gonna say something that might ruffle feathers but Ryan Coogler should have stepped down if he couldn't fight for T'Challa in the same way Chadwick had.

Can't evaluate Wakanda from a western point of view. The Queen is raising warriors, and she's not an American who would necessarily greet the future king like any other Grandmother. This is a very brave script that moves the story along in the MCU. As for your objection to the ratio of strong female characters being > to males.....really?!?! As well, this movie isn't a civics lesson on Wakanda either.
NO. Because black men missed the point of the first movie. It's not about black masculinity. Its Pro-Africa. Kilmonger represented black Americans and he had to die to Conserve the purity of Wakanda. Black Americans are bitter and tainted and offer no goodwill to Africa.
Why are you people so eager to see him recasted . You will only find some way to complain and compare . Stop being so petty . I wish most of the commenters was recast from the comments section 😆
Great review ! I liked the movie but agreed on a lot with you. M'Baku should have had way more screen time; he's one of my favorite characters. I also think Shuri was a little rushed. But Namor is my favorite amazing cultural reference and an awesome character. However, I feel like they left both civilizations as being dumbed down. Mayan/Aztec civilizations were miles above Europe in most areas of the time, so I think they should have done more for the civilization as a whole. It was presented well, but I wanted to see more. Likewise, I feel like Wakanda seemed weak in a lot of stuff, but the final fight was also weird, so I don't spoil it for anyone. But I would like a Namor solo film.
I thought the way they addressed Chadwick was Beautiful! I think it wasn't a lot of time spent on it was because of the Actors ability to cope and Ryan wanted it to be a Celebration. I understand how you feel tho 💯❤️ Love your review!
Nope, didn't like what I saw. I forced myself to watch the first hour; couldn't finish. Loved the funeral in the beginning. After that there was just too much going on! The BEST thing about it was the COSTUMES! RUTH CARTER, WoW!
I just saw it. It was good. There were characters who didn't have to be in the film. I wanted to know more about Namor, how long he's been watching Wakanda and daily life in Wakanda now that they opened to the world. I wanted to see more of the other tribes. I just wanted more world-building and more character development. I didn't mind Michaela, but the CIA...they could have cut them out.
I think seeing other tribes would be better from the average person in Wakanda for better understanding of wakanda culture. Would be an interesting series
I loved this movie so much and I don’t think they could’ve recast Chadwick bosman.. i think the ending of this movie was perfect - they don’t recast Chadwick but they left the door wide open for the black Panther and t’Challa to live on. I am not a marvel fan, and I don’t read any of the comics. But I was drawn to the first movie because of the parallels to my west African heritage. And I feel like there are a lot of people like me- who don’t really care about the Marvel universe but love the black Panther and felt connected to Chadwick. For this reason, I feel like they couldn’t recast him the way they may have been able to if this was a different superhero in the franchise. I think they were in a tough spot with Chadwick’s death but the writers, cast, and crew did an amazing job given the circumstance. And I’m excited to see where the story goes
Where people lose me is when they say they are very disappointed in the movie, but they're going to go see it 2 more times. The only influence you have that the studio listens to is your dollars. This is classic saying one thing but doing another. You don't like the movie but you're paying for it 3 times. What part of that do you think the studio cares about? The 3 three times you bought tickets of course. Where is the logic in continually pay for trash and then expect the studios to have incentive to do better? Why?? Why give you a better cow if you are continuously paying for the milk multiple times from old broken down Bessy?!? "Thank you. Please can I have another?" And if they are prepaid tickets, stop buying multiple prepaid tickets. Comon man. The days where you have to buy advanced tickets to see a movie are long gone. These things only matter now in providing a headline for studios to promote a narrative spin. Why are you giving them that? It makes no sense.
I supported this movie because of the first one; however I was disappointed CB was not replaced with another actor. The reason just doesn’t set right! Other actors have been replaced due to tragedy or not wanting to continue their roles why not him? CB did a fantastic job, and Marvel had no idea the first one would have the biggest impacts the way it did. Having a Black super hero to look up to, without the traditional stereotypes was huge! My personal belief is he wasn’t replaced because of those reasons; the Black man being looked up to and giving a sense of pride to his people wasn’t what the Universe ultimately wanted to see!! BP2 had the potential to be big as the first; the introduction of this new adversary was on point, but everything else was a reach for me. The history of the water people was very interesting knowing the original people disappeared without a trace; this idea to shed light on what possibly could have happened to them was brilliant!

Recasting T’challa would to big shoe to fill and the person who would have got casted would have been under a lot press and be compare to Chadwick to much.
I agree that the funeral of Tchalla was rushed. And the character could have been a CGI as a vision guiding Shuri in her journey to adulthood and the student who was recruited in Wakandaland story was not needed. It started off good with Wakanda being repped by United Nations but it teeters off into other territory outside of Wakanda.
At the end of the day it's a movie. Either stay home or go and enjoy time with your family make it an event but if you go with your mind ready to pick apart the movie then you will come away with being dissatisfied.
I've learned that production companies will steer clear of whatever could affect their bottom line. They wanted to bring in as many dollars without risking losing the audience who didnt want to see Chadwick replaced by another black panther. Par for the course. I'm excited to see for myself though. Love your reviews!
You say that you didn't see enough of the country of Wakanda since the title is" Wakanda Forever " , but you missed the importance that the people are Wakanda , just the same as Asgard is the people and not a place. I just subbed to your channel. I appreciate your genuine and authentic take on this movie. It seems that the reason why this movie feels frustrating to watch is because of several missed opportunities, and its potential was either underutilized or unrealized. Maybe our expectations were set too high. The movie is still watchable imo, but perhaps only once. Oh, as a Firefighter, I couldn't help but notice that it sounds like you need to change out the batteries in your smoke and/or CO2 detectors. When you do get around in changing out the batteries, also check the date when the detector was manufactured. The manufacturing date is normally on the back of the detector and sometimes in the battery housing. Almost all smoke detectors have a lifespan of 10 years before they begin to malfunction. For CO2 and combination detectors, their lifespan is usually around 5-7 years depending on the manufacturer. If you find out that you need a new detector or two, go to your local Fire Department and ask if they hand out detectors for the community. They might be able to provide you with some free detectors.

The decision not to spend a lot of time on Chadwick was most likely done so that it wouldn’t seem like they’re profiting off of his death. I don’t think a lot of people realize how hard it was to pull this movie off without offending someone. It was a monumental task.

You mean Chadwick Boseman....
M'Baku put a perspective of choice, when he confronted Shuri. That moment in itself is the level of honor.

Facts!
It's an "All- Female Lead" film. It was never going to focus on any male characters more than what was deemed necessary.

One of the hilarious scenes in the first BP was when Winston Duke's character, M'Baku threatened to feed the character Everett Ross to his warriors if he didn't stay in his lane. It was tense. Marvel made it apparent what their agenda was and is. They planned to always showcase the female characters. That was in rumors before Chadwick even passed.
Sounds like a missed opportunity with this film and they should have waited and recast TChalla after they mourned Boseman.
I didn’t understand the part when Okoye stabbed the Talocans with fatal blows but they didn’t die. Are they invincible? Immortal?
Yep.

You just see something and think it can be easily replaced with something else when that's not the case.

B. Avery saying “I’m not joking… I’m serious” then the cut before he laughs made me laugh audibly 😂😂😂
Good review! Seems like M’Baku pay raise took him from a cameo to a few steps above a cameo
Disney Marvel is done.Wokeness killed the Strong Black Male Leads. They traded Black Panther for Black Wonder Man.
Black wonder man?
This film was EXACTLY what the black grassroots said it was gona be. A cjance to erase a black male hero. PERIOD.
Thank you Mr. Avery for your opinion. I like some of your opinions, but will keep an open mind while watching. And I am with you. The T'challa character should have been kept with a new actor. T'challa is too important to the MCU right now as a leader, especially with Secret Wars coming.
Feminist film. The men were emasculated and/or erase. Women were unrealistically controlling or beating up men and Chad wasn’t properly honored.
I just realized something. The anti recast people say it would be hard and disrespectful to have recast, but Chadwick died and this cast and crew have push to kill the character. So the whole world has had to deal with 2 deaths. Wow. Good trade off Marvel. Thank you.
This might be the dumbest comment I have ever read
Recast is an insult to the original.
@@MrCODEmaster999 how?
@@MrCODEmaster999 Tell that to James Bond, Batman, and Superman. They've been insulting them for generations.
@@joewhite9074 Just a little but typically it a time variant of the character from a different universe. They could still use a time variant of T'Challa from a different universe, but they have to be crafty about it to justify universe transfer.
When the source materials in your projects become harder and harder to recognize = the MCU.
I also really liked Queen Ramonda's entrance. I liv ein paris and the entire theater was stunned to silence by Angela Bassett's acting and stage presence. The regalness of it all was divine.
Also, I really liked that Riri Williams felt kind of at home in Wakanda. I'm Cameroonian and African Americans are our brothers!!!
MBaku was originally the villain Man Ape....but reduce him to a joke?
He wasn't even a joke he just had some funny lines.. just like the first movie
@@kOreoTalks no he was a joke cause he was the only brother fighting in the movie , even the Quens council was silent with advice , from the brother with the plate in his lip to the other ! Did you see any of Namors crew saying whack shyt???
It’s like Disney is incapable of putting men and women on an equal footing, giving them both the same presence and screen time. They just can’t do it. It’s hard enough for them to pull off a good male centric film, this movie should have been one or two shows in the middle of two movies. To build up characters instead of making a long movie with more acting than action. I don’t need to sit there 3 hours for this. For endgame, yes, but this I could have enjoyed more over a much longer time spread out in shows and movies. Keep the movies compact and full of thrills.
Riri should’ve been in armorwars instead of wakanda forever
Wow, I guess I gotta brace myself for this on Thursday. Thanks for your honest review B!
Doctor Strange (potential THE SORCERER SUPREME) is made to be way weaker than the Scarlet Witch
Wong (the actual sorcerer supreme, in the MCU) is nothing but a pathetic sitcom sidekick character.
Sounds like it should've been a show.
Ok, well this isn’t your grandfathers Wakanda. At least the Russo Brothers gave me the bad ass Stan Lee, Jack Kirby era T’Challa!
How is ppl dying black trauma 💀
I’m sorry what? No. Don’t miss this movie period. You haven’t even seen the movie yet so how would you know if it’s a miss or not? You have to see the movie for yourself.
Black trauma or Black reality, then you need to stay in the house under your bed and not watch the News or social media. And do not read a comic book, ever!
The movie is good just came back from it you ‘ll enjoye it and hands down the best movie from this phase
👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
Yup
nah man I think if they can recast characters who are alive like terrance howard and edward norton who are alive, idk how recasting a person who is dead is disrespectful.
So they shouldn’t have recasted red hulk ? Cause if so then that means we might’ve never seen the red hulk in the mcu
@@deviction9314 what are you talking about? that actor died so harrison ford is taking over. edward norton was replaced by mark ruffalo who are both alive. people will die, but the character shouldn’t die too.
Or they could simply recast all of the characters and turn wakanda into a series 🤷🏾
We warned you but you didn't listen....I'm not paying to see something thats going to be a disappointment
Good for you.
But you are going to comment about it right
I thought the way they addressed Chadwick was Beautiful! I think it wasn't a lot of time spent on it was because of the Actors ability to cope and Ryan wanted it to be a Celebration. I understand how you feel tho 💯❤️ Love your review!
They could have totally deepfaked Chadwick and gave him an honorable death even. Total fail.
If you're talking about the flood, it happens in the comics...
You keeping it 100. Half the reviews I have read and watched left me wondering what movie did you see. I’m with you on this one.
Feige when Stan Lee was alive....is most def dif much dif then after the author passed on. The TV shows and movies have taken a nose dive since.
The colonizers were unnecessary but it was the connection to the scientist.
Because they secretly loved the film, they just enjoy hating on shit on the internet because it gives them hard ons. (;
He basically stupid at this point....

You not trippin....I agree with your review. I do think Killmonger's moment kinda saved the movie for me.
Yes, I think so too. I almost jumped up too. I still they shouldn't have killed him off. That didn't make sense to me. I'm a Killmonger fan girl. 😍🥰
It seemed like two films edited to one with Wakanda and the Na'mor tribe.
I thought it was just me. It did seem like 2 separate movies pieced together
Thank goodness someone was honest about this movie. There are many reviewers who for obvious reasons will never feel they can say a bad word against it regardless of what they see on screen.
Thank you for your honesty.
there are many negative reviews out there. you are not looking hard enough. well, at all really. five seconds on rotten tomatoes and you would see many rotten reviews from big name brand publishers. and even among the positive ones, no one (except double toasted) is giving it over a 7

this kind of a shocking review. I did not expect this.

I think if they could take out or consolidate some of the slower paced sections and shorten the overall film, it would have been a lot better..

They could of had in exclusively in Panther form, that could have worked if u ask me
Everyone in the theater thought the funeral was rushed
At the end of the day it's a movie. Either stay home or go and enjoy time with your family make it an event but if you go with your mind ready to pick apart the movie then you will come away with being dissatisfied.
I've learned that production companies will steer clear of whatever could affect their bottom line. They wanted to bring in as many dollars without risking losing the audience who didnt want to see Chadwick replaced by another black panther. Par for the course. I'm excited to see for myself though. We definitely feel your emotions about this film
