There are several videos on here of trains going through Denton but they often leave the line at Denton Junction, so it's nice to have a video of a train going through to Guide Bridge

Would be useful to create an electrified east side route around Manchester for diversions plus relief via Oxford Road, etc.

At 8:05 in the video, I used to work in an office to the right. It overlooked the line, but there was a siding there then as well. Factory of 650 people all gone now and been replaced by a supermarket. And at 16:23, the road the train travel over, I used to live up there to the left about 100 yards.

Think it's more to do with locals trying to get more than one train a week in each direction 🤔🤣

Looks like that 66 was pulling a waste train?Old DC wiring along a bit of the line too from when the 76's/77's, AKA the Tommies, where in action.

Yes, a Binliner service from Bredbury RTS to Runcorn Folly Lane EFW site.

Still think this is an underused line/route. Being based in Denton, I would love to be able to take more than one train a week in each direction 🤔

Why does TPExpress take forever between Guide Bridge and Stalybridge but Northern is seemingly fast tho...

Why is Stalybridge station bigger than Halifax. Halifax is a more popular station and then Stalybridge is empty of passengers more than half the time.

i beleive it used to have more lines running through it and was an interchange for 2 transpennine route options.

@@malcolmelliott1876 , also used to be a change point for the WCML at Stockport, trains timed to meet with the hourly Transpennines back in the day, and under DC wires at Guide Bridge, then to Stockport for London, Crewe and Birmingham services, saved changing stations in/across Manchester back then, happier days !

Gets me why they don't redouble the track upto the m60 bridge in denton and from denton jct to guide bridge

No need for double track with current demand. If new Stockport passenger services are introduced/diverted away from Piccadilly through to Victoria, then line capacity would need to increase. The M60 bridge would be a pinch point but the cost/traffic chaos of a new bridge may mean just having to live with it. More freight due to the Trans Pennine upgrade may be the only reason to re-double into Guide Bridge. Lot of talk but no action from the Government.

Dopes anyone actually use these parliamentary services, are they timetabled or just run at times of the day when there is no demand? Is it a conspiracy to remove the service altogether by providing evidence that there is no demand, or am I being cynical?
