I do not blame McDavid for not coming out for the Conn Smythe. Not only is it a horrible moment for him. It's Florida's moment. The only way that moment is worthwhile is if he comes out to take it and the Panthers all stop, turn, and stick tap while the crowd chants, "Con-nor!" for a beat.

Wallinder was basically a first round pick at #32 in 2020, if he could become a 4D that’d be great.

Thank you, Evan. Nate will play with Kane in the preseason. You heard it here first (or maybe second if Evan was actually saying the same thing, or at least thinking it). 😉 Nate's the real deal.

My opinion on Berggren is they know he can dominate in the AHL being a point per game player but with his two NHL "seasons" being only half a point per game; I think the team wants more than that from him and if he's developed more soundly in his skills since 2022. It would be nice seeing him accomplish cracking the top 6 on the team but who knows. We shall see how he's deployed with his time on the ice. Also what do you with Cossa and Augustine? Split the work. Boston did it with Swayman and Ullmark then wait for someone to pay a kings ransom for the "worst" one.

Buchelnikov has a beast of a shot in accuracy, heat, and quickness. His ability to find a soft spot seems good. Unfortunately, I haven't seen enough of the rest of his game. It is a crime to think he shouldn't come over to see what he's got. After how much runway Pul-cannon and Frky got for having a bomb of a slapshot, Buchelnikov has to get time in GR at some point and maybe a cup of coffee at the NHL.

His own thoughts are as follows.
His future is still uncertain, however, he has a contract with his SHL club. He is supposed to come over for the upcoming camp. Is he likely to take a seat? No, the risk is small that they will actually happen.
He has never played in a higher series than div 1 before. The most natural thing is that he chose Skellefteå AIK (SHL) to grow into a bigger league and preparations for future games in the AHL/NHL. Having a higher ambition today or hope for a higher result is completely wrong in the current situation.

It seems like the Wings scouts are placing a lot of weight on playoff performances with prospects. Might be trying to target guys who elevate play during the hard playoff runs.

When THG made a video about the wings a few years ago, he mentioned that when Detroit started making a serious Cup push, Larkin would end up as the 2 or 3rdC. That puts Danielson at 1C, and Kasper at 2C ceiling, Larkin can also play LW, so there are options in the future. Even Yzerman ended at 2C after Federov arrived.

For the What If, might be more interesting to consider if Holland had picked Bouchard like he was going to. He took longer and is still good (not as good, of course). Bouchard, Seider, Raymond is still better than what transpired by a mile.

Even Zetterberg stayed in Sweden for 3 years after his draft. Datsyuk stayed in Russia for 4 years. Lindstrom developed in Sweden for 2 years. Plus ASP and MBN will be playing for the same team, so that will develop chemistry between the two.

Physical attributes count for a lot! Danielson vs ASB is not equal. Look at the trend over time in the NHL and you will see the average size of players is trending up for a long time. I acknowledge ASB is an elite skater and has a decent shot, has shown high hockey IQ. However, the NHL is a grind, it is an endurance race in the regular season and turns into all out war in the Playoffs. ASB is a risk because of his lack of the physical attributes to endure the grind. That risk substantially lowers his prospect status in comparison to Danielson and also MBN and maybe even Cossa.

Love the podcast bots, but you are all wrong about McDavid not accepting trophy after losing. Look back at video of Ron Hextall winning Conn Smythe in 87 after losing. Guy was almost in tears, but he manned up and accepted trophy. McDavid is great, will score a trillion goals, and may win multiple cups, but he chose to sulk and hide in the lockeroom. Humble in Victory Gracious in Defeat. 😴🤔🤷

J-Burg experience in DRW has been unsettled with continuously shifting lines and line mates, bouncing up and down to GR, while having been largely underestimated. He's been justifiably pissed off and have proven himself as a great player. Not only in the regular season, but also in the playoffs. Does Detroit deserve him? I'm not so sure anymore.

Can’t speak to his past AHL season. Last NHL stint, he was getting knocked off the puck when guys would hit him at his hips. This would knock him off balance and he was losing board battles. Not sure if beefing up his core and lower body would help that.
