Exactly. I don't know why everyone is so afraid of 3 years for Kane. You can get him for less AAV, and even if his on-ice play in his 3rd year is like Danny Cleary's last season, Kane's knowledge, leadership, and ability to mentor kids like Raymond is worth paying for.

Sharks didn’t seem to have to overpay to move up to 11. Hope we might be able to swap 15 for 11 with them w/ the Walman trade as down payment. I would’ve given a second all day to move up. Buffalo might not have wanted to deal w/ us though (because we would be fighting for playoffs w/ them). Make it so.

Round 2 is usually the cut of point. A lot of names and prospects. All teams start going off their own lists.
Detroit has to find late round gems, it is imperative for the rebuild. So far Mazur is the only candidate.

Trevor Connelly is a swing for the fences (shake things up) selection that Detroit has shied away from but they have to make a big splash as the lull of development is going plottingly along for all of Detroit's draft picks except Raymond and Seider.
Connelly has had some maturity issues and would have to learn the Red Wings way of doing things.
Right handed forwards available is a great bonus at pick 15.
Catton or Yakmechuk falling down to Detroit would be a supremely sweet surprise tonight.
Kappo Kakko and maybe something else attached to Trouba? Ehh? Eh?
Wouldn't mind it honestly. Would also create competition among the young guys and maybe light a fire for Kakko to not get outplayed by the newest guys

What if, and I don't necessarily believe this, but I need something to turn the seemingly insane Walman trade into some form of sanity, whatever happened behind the scenes, Yzerman had such disdain for Walman that he said F-you, you're going to the basement, and to ensure this, I'm not even risking waivers and I'm deciding your fate, 2nd-round pick be damned.
This trade reeks of substance abuse issues. Other similar NHL trades in the past eventually the truth comes out why almost every team was not interested in the player.

I dont think Luchanko should be counted out as a wings pick. He checks a lot of boxes for Yzerman. Compete, two-way, speed, smarts and quite skilled too.

Berkly Catton and Carter Yakemchuk look like the two best players in this draft to me. Also AJ Spellacy should be a first round pick. Every year there are so many players ranked high that I have no interest in. This draft seems pretty weak. Trevor Connelly is fast but I wouldn't draft him if he's got issues. If Catton or Yakemchuk aren't there at 15 I'm drafting Liam Greentree or AJ Spellacy or I'm trading the pick
Connelly can become unhinged, yet he is being compared to Mat Barzal.
Plus much has to be done to increase Trevor's physical conditioning at 161 pounds.

I'm gonna keep it real: if they draft Connelly immediately after the absolute debacle that was the Walman trade a couple days ago, my faith in the integrity and leadership of this organization will be thoroughly shaken.
Just my opinion. If Catton Eiserman or Sennecke aren't available. I hope they move back a few picks and take Connolly. Potential to grab another 2nd + and a top talent that other teams are afraid to take a chance on.

Risky as SY has been lately he really has not drafted well after the 1st round.
But eventually it catches up to GMs trying to do too much trades and over relying on other teams to take bad contracts.
