I've been going back and forth on whether or not to still release this (it was 98% complete after game 81). This style of video is normally reserved for playoff seasons only, but I spent way too much time on it to just let it go to waste, so I've decided to upload it anyways. Player highlights are in the works, expect them to come out sometime in late May. Also, I need to address the questions about game 82... Something went wrong with the recording during OT, which would've caused an upload delay regardless, but that crushing "just got eliminated" feeling we haven't felt in years started to kick in at that point and I needed some time to get over it. If there's still interest, I suppose I could get around to that game, but the OT section will be the TSN feed.
I can't speak for other people, but for me, we don't win a game until the AWood40 recap is posted. I want your G82 upload even if it is Leah Hextall doing both the PBP and the analysis. We have suffered so many recent seasons that were meaningless by the end that we have to respect playing a meaningful game 82, no matter how much it hurts.
This was the most excited I was for a wings season in years. If anyone thinks rebuilds are add water instant contender, never happened. Yzerman is cleaning up Holland’s mess and making this team what he did with Tampa.
We can say that but also see that this team was 10 points in the first wild card spot and missed cause he didn't add nobody at the deadline cause he touted depth in the org and did nothing but call up Austin Czarnik and send down berggren and call up edvinsson when the season was on life support
@@emanuelsamaan4993We are not going to mortgage our future for a possible rental. Other teams are not stupid, they would want 1st rounders and top 8 prospects. Why do that when you know you dont have a chance at a cup.
Ugh... So many memorable moments that I'm going to remember forever as a Wings fan but such a bummer that the year didn't end with a playoff appearance.
As heartbreaking as the end of the season was and how these are normally for playoff years, I thoroughly appreciate this video. This was one of the most entertaining years of red wings hockey since the prime to late Euro Twin days (obviously lol). I have followed your channel since 2010 (I was 8 years old), so seeing this video made me insanely excited and I'm also INCREDIBLY stoked for the player highlights. Thank you, as always, for all these highlights of the team I grew to love so much. You're a one of a kind channel.
This team definitely deserved to be in the playoffs. I don't know what the chemistry is gonna be like next season but, definitely work on defense. Give Raymond an A on his jersey next season.
Wings fan since 96. Really enjoyed this season.. so mad we didn’t make it to the post season. Was in Stockholm for the Leafs-Wings game^^ 2025 : PLAYOFFS TIME I will fly over the atlantic to see my wings in LCA ❤ Cheers from France LGRW
The wings should be paying you at this point lol. whenever i miss watching a game this is the first place i look. Whenever i want to see an epic complilation of the magic man, this is where i go. Stay solid Mr. Awood40 and thank you for all your hard work making these videos
It still cracks me up that there were average couch potatoes analyzing the play and making determinations of how much better a pass would have been and how open Jones' teammates were, to justify how the league was rigged lmao.
@@icedo1013 also complaining about KAne cherrypicking. he WAS, but it wasn't blind cherrypicking, he knows Jones, he played w him as teammates in 3 on 3 OT the last 2 or 3 years. he knew what Seth was very likely going to do there (and not do), and knew the pass to Bedard even if he tried it wasn't an easy or likely one for him. he was just waiting hoping DeBrincat won the rebound. if not he appeared ready to jump back into the play if needed.
@@paulwt9783he was also at the end of a shift so he was gassed and was just knocked down, you dont just go to the bench when the puck is going the other way so he made the right play
What an unbelievable season, i love this team so much and that absolutely gut wrenching way to end the season is sure to be motivation for the boys next year. I have missed the wings during the off season before but never this much, and i haven't been more excited for an upcoming season than right now
Even during his streak of not scoring, he was still getting chances, so that bodes well. Luckily when he's cold we have a lot of other good offensive players.
Best season of hockey I've seen in a long time. Never forget when a Seattle player just threw their stick into the middle of our pass, and it wasn't called a penalty.
I haven’t even watched this yet but I’m SO EXCITED to lay in bed tonight after I get my little girl to sleep and watch this!! You’re the best! Thank you so much🤜🏼🤛🏼
Awood the legend with another amazing video. Love that you released this despite how crushing the end of the year was. It was great to have something to cheer for even to the last seconds of the season, and the future looks bright. #LGRW #LGAWOOD
The amount of game winning goals Kane had is crazy…. And he didn’t even play the full season. If we had him for at least 70 games, we probably sneak into the playoff. Praying that he will sign for at least one more year…❤
first, ty for your effort all year and every year. invaluable work. now, 2 things little noticed about the Kane OT winner in Chicago. 1. many people on soc media (and even some in the stands watching) thought it didn't go in. the most common angle makes it look bar down, and questionable. the least seen or noticed angle shows it literally hitting the back of the net and coming back out, it was shot so hard. an interesting optical illusion, on the common angle. 2. not visible afaik on any of the broadcasts, or anyway not noticeable, but clearly visible on fan videos, is that during Kane's lap after the goal thanking the fans before leaving, the video board person for the Hawks put back up the "Thank You Patrick" graphic that had been up during the tribute earlier in the game. think how truly bizarre that is in full context. the fans are one thing, for the team itself to put up a graphic thanking him after he beats them is next level.
Debrincat going cold and Walman going down during the final stretch of the season really hurt our playoff chances, but what a fun season! Thanks as always Alex for all the hard work you put in
Rasmussen missing time really didn't do him any favors either. That guy looked lovely for the first third/half of this video and then he just sorta disappeared. The same thing happened to Veleno. You could definitely tell when the good times were.
Healthy Husso was still a bit wanting in consistency if I'm not completely mistaken. He plays lights out till December and then starts waning. I love the guy, but I won't say I'm not excited to see the actualization of some prospect goaltenders.
Watching this again, as i'm struggling with the lack of Redwings content in general the last few weeks! Please bring on the season! Love the work AWood! Cheers, from Canada
The wings may not have made the playoffs when we should have but I feel like this team is gonna get much better next year. All of the young guys who are gonna get called up next year is gonna really improve this team
The Detroit Red Wings organization should hire you as a contractor for their social media account, especially their TH-cam channel. You have archived just about every game, every important milestone since the 1980's. You showed how we built our dynasty. Its valuable.
I say this as a fan of a rival, I think Wings fans should be somewhat proud of this season, a fantastic step in the right direction for the franchise after years of rebuilding, now if they go anywhere, time will tell. But I think it goes without saying dear god the way the season ended couldn't have been more painful.
Would definitely love a recap of game 82. The boys dug deep for that win and I believe it shows just how resilient this team was. If we can build on that for next year, our young core will be in a very good spot
The last 5 games highlights give me so much hope for this team moving forward. It's going to look a little different in Detroit but I've never been so excited for the next season to start. The cup isn't even figured out yet, and I'm DYING to watch the 24-25 wings.
Almost as excited about the future of the Wings as I am about the Lions. If you look at the rest of the league and the age of their stars, contracts ending, free agency, etc., you'll realize the Redwings are still building, but they are right on the edge of being back.
Heart breaking end to a season. Regardless, there are signs of life. I personally haven't been this happy about a Wings team in many years, and it genuinely makes me happy to see them string some great games together. On a side note, I love Ken and Mick. Listening to them in those final two games of the season had me ready to run through a brick wall.
i went the the wings game against the capitals in hopes to see number 8 for the caps to score before he breaks the record. never did i think i would see 8 GOALS scored.
I really really wish there was a camera on the announcers, especially for those last two games. To see Ken loosing it up there in the booth as the Wings pulled off those wins...
Great content as always! ❤ Watching this, it’s so frustrating that we missed the playoffs for Capitals to be immediately swept. Not saying we’d have won that series but I could imagine we’d have taken at least one game. Especially the way we finished the season.
Thank you, Larks, Razor, Mo, and everyone else who made this the most fun season in years. Thank you, Awood, for documenting it And once and for all, fuck you John Tortorella
I’m just curious bc I’m only 16, so I don’t remember anything. But the last time we made the playoffs, was that Mike Babcocks final year or Blashills 1st??
I was in high school until the summer of 2015 and I remember the buzz surrounding Babcock's departure to Toronto with classmates in class. I'd have to say that it was Blashill's first year.
I've been going back and forth on whether or not to still release this (it was 98% complete after game 81). This style of video is normally reserved for playoff seasons only, but I spent way too much time on it to just let it go to waste, so I've decided to upload it anyways.

I wouldn’t mind having game 82. Despite the fact we didn’t get in it was a helluva game. But it’s ok either way.
Thank you for everything Awood ❤️
