This is so fun! They add so much texture to the wall especially when you group a bunch of them together like that. Thanks for showing us how to make it!
Where did you purchase the real moss you put in the center? I tried finding something like it but can't seem to locate one. Thank you and great video!!!
Look into serpadesign or paludariums, or aquascaping if youre interested in real moss. Hot tip the container should be water proof and you should get moss from areas that are near you and are in drier areas like side walks, roof overhangs, concrete areas, unmaintained driveways or your lawn if you're looking to keep it on a table or something, better survivability. Do not collect in state or nature preserves, as it is illegal in some places. Scatter your picking, better to collect a little and leave most behind so it can refill, moss grows very slow. Wash moss, quarantine moss for about 1 to 2 weeks in a loose lid tupperware container, make sure you let the container air out every day or so take care of any hitchhikers. Moss after rain or snow melt have the best colors, those you can even dry right after picking.

Love!!!! Do you have any recommendations as to the types of moss to use, how much moss is needed per 19x19 ribba frame? I am thinking of doing 9 of them in my dining room. Thank you.
Hi Jennifer, sorry for the late reply! For this project, my client wanted 4 frames so I purchased a lot of the fake moss at the DollarStore to keep the budget down. I basically bought as many bags as I could find...which was around 6 bags. But I'm assuming that will need to measure the bag size of moss that you find at your Dollarstore/Craft Stores, then do the calculation for your frames. Length x width of bag, and see how many of these fit into the Ribba. Does that make sense? You may be able to double the area you want to cover if the bag of moss has a lot of depth. And then I bought 1 large bag of preserved moss at Michael's which had a lot of the brighter greens and natural colours which I used in the foreground. So, I had 7 bags in total but they weren't the same sizes. Sorry I don't have an exact number for you but hope the estimating will help you to figure out how much you need. By the way...9 frames would look so pretty! Just remember to allow the moss to "air out" in a ventilated room before installing in your dining room. I found there was a bit of an odour for the first few hours...which may have been the preserved moss. Have fun and good luck!

Debra Faith Warshaw Hi Debra! So glad you watched the video! I totally “guesstimated” by looking at the package of moss and trying to buy enough packages to visually fill the frame. Again, it depends on how many colours you want to include as well. So if I wanted to use 4 colours, and it covered 1/4 of the frame, then I would be 4 packages. With this project I had to buy enough moss to fill 4 Ikea frames so it ended up being 3 large bags of preserved moss, and then I got around 6 bags of fake moss at the dollar store. I had lots of leftovers that I used for other projects. So the long answer to the short question is, I would see how many colours you want to use, measure the package of the moss and make sure you have enough moss combined to fill the length and width of the frame. Hope this helps!!
@@SimplyCherCher , thank you for replying. I had to order it all online so I couldn't see/feel the package size the same way I would in person. I've seen in some of your comments that you went to the dollar store to get the bulk of the moss, can I ask which? There are only a few dollar stores close to me and whenever I look up preserved moss it takes me to expensive kinds from home depot or something like that, Thanks!

It's preserved moss so it will last as long as it doesn't come in contact with water and mositure... i have it in a little decorative fake terrarium in my house it's been a year and the moss still looks like i bought it yesterday... key is to get good quality well preserved moss so probably not from the dollar store if you want it to last long :)

Hi Aby! The moss I used was a mix. Some pieces were fake plastic. The rest were preserved and dried moss. Easy maintenance and no watering. Hope that helps!
Thank you Mathilde!! Staying fresh forever would be amazing right? Fake moss can fade over time, especially if it's exposed to the sun. However you can bring it back to life if you notice this happening. You can apply a small amount of craft paint to the moss with a sponge brush. Dab any excess off with a paper towel. I found this advice online...check out this blog! www.notjustahousewife.net/freshen-up-moss/
It ended up costing about $50 a frame. It depends on the kind of moss you purchase...my client wanted different colours so I mixed some Dollar Store preserved moss with some more expensive moss from Michael's craft store. Pricing can vary.
Thank you so much! The brighter green moss is preserved and the rest is fake moss. The moss does not require any watering so it's super easy to take care of. Just keep out of direct sunlight. Hope that helps!
SimplyCherCher thanks for your reply. Could I make the same thing with real moss? Would real miss be better for quality of air within the home or doesn’t make any difference? And would real miss require more work to keep it alive?
Thank you so much! I bought the nicer decorative moss from Michael's Craft Store, and then found some standard faux moss at the Dollar Store which I used for most of the pieces. I like to mix it up to save on budget!
@@SimplyCherCher I love this! How many bags of dollar store moss would you say is needed for this size frame? Also is it a special frame like shadow box? The succulents don't require water?
@@SmileyYvette Thank you so much!! So glad you like it. For that size of frame, I used around 6-8 bags of moss. All the moss and succulents are fake so need to water. The frame is a RIBBA shadow box that I got from Ikea. When you are trying to calculate how much moss you need, just measure your frame to calculate the area that you need, then just make sure you have enough moss to cover that area with a bit extra just in case.
Hi Lucas, this is a combination of preserved and artificial moss. The client wanted something easy to maintain so I combined both types of Moss as I wanted to also have lots of colour options.

Thanks
Vidya Bk where did you buy the preserved moss? 🙏
Vidya Bk thank you 😊👍
where is her wallpaper from @3:23 with the leaves? so goood
Hi Ruby! That’s one of my fav suppliers. The banana leaf print is gorgeous. Check it out wynil.com/collections/all-wallpaper/products/white-banana-leaves?variant=32387141075037
@@SimplyCherCher thanks so much for getting back to me so shortly, definitely subbing
is this real moss, and what is the process to make it dry like that
Hey! Ik this is a late reply, but it’s rlly simple drying real moss. Just take it from wherever u r getting it and set it on some parchment for a day or two and it’ll dry naturally
Please, tell more about the glue,do you put over the moss too?
Hi There! No, I just used the hot glue to adhere to the backing. No glue over the moss.
is the moss real? if i dig up real moss from ground, will it work?
Hello and thanks for watching. This moss is not living, it's a combination of artificial moss and preserved moss. I am not an expert in living moss artwork, but you can connect with THE URBAN BOTANIST, her name is Emma and she has a YT Channel as well. She's a great resource!
are these moss natural or plastic ? dont they die out in the long run ?
Hi Aby! The moss I used was a mix. Some pieces were fake plastic. The rest were preserved and dried moss. Easy maintenance and no watering. Hope that helps!
Absolutely love this!:) The office renovation you did was so so beautiful and clever. But will the moss art keep green and fresh forever?
Thank you Mathilde!! Staying fresh forever would be amazing right? Fake moss can fade over time, especially if it's exposed to the sun.
However you can bring it back to life if you notice this happening. You can apply a small amount of craft paint to the moss with a sponge brush.
Dab any excess off with a paper towel. I found this advice online...check out this blog! www.notjustahousewife.net/freshen-up-moss/
reall moss in frame you can spray it with fresh water now and then
How much did each moss wall end up costing?
It ended up costing about $50 a frame. It depends on the kind of moss you purchase...my client wanted different colours so I mixed some Dollar Store preserved moss with some more expensive moss from Michael's craft store. Pricing can vary.
Beautiful!💕
Great work! Is this real moss? If it is does it require watering?
Thank you so much! The brighter green moss is preserved and the rest is fake moss. The moss does not require any watering so it's super easy to take care of. Just keep out of direct sunlight. Hope that helps!
SimplyCherCher thanks for your reply. Could I make the same thing with real moss? Would real miss be better for quality of air within the home or doesn’t make any difference? And would real miss require more work to keep it alive?
This is such an good idea. May I ask were have you bought the moss?
HI, haved a question. Is this a real moss ? o artificial vegetacion ?
Me too
Hi Lucas, this is a combination of preserved and artificial moss. The client wanted something easy to maintain so I combined both types of Moss as I wanted to also have lots of colour options.
Can this be done with living moss and other live plants using the same hot glue method?
Hi Alexandria! Ohhhhh....I haven't tried it with real moss yet. Great question though. Let me do some research and see what I can find.
@@SimplyCherCher Thanks for your quick reply! I looked into it. It's complicated to use living moss. The moss needs soil and to be watered regularly. Living moss is best for outdoor use in a climate that moss typically grows in.
@@miamibeachmed Ahhh thanks Alexandria for looking into it. I've seen some real living moss walls and they are gorgeous but can be very expensive. Agreed that real moss needs to be watered regularly and I'll make sure to research more tips for any future living moss tutorials!
Must be the frame be so thick?
although they look gorgeous in the piece, i dont think succulents would normally grow where moss is...they prefer dry environments
Damien Dolomite good to know! Thanks for sharing
So pretty
how long will it last?
Hi Chathura :) Since I used a combination of fake and preserved moss, it will definitely last a long time...so far it's been a few years and it's still the same. Just keep it out of direct sunlight, no water needed.
Do you water it? Or just let it die :(
Hello and thanks for watching! This is artificial moss and preserved moss so no water needed.
Hello, is dollarama moss plastic or is it real ?
Hi Bobinette49! All the moss is fake for this project.
It looks amazing! Is it possible to order it from you? Even if you are not doing it for sale, just put a price on it and wi‘ll figure it out :). Would this sound interesting for you? I‘d love to have some of such creations in my place, but I never done it before and I am so occupied with several other time intense hobbies, there wouldn‘t be a space to start something else with first fails etc.
Ahhh thank you so much! I made these for a client. I never thought about making them for sale! Good idea though...I would have to price it out and figure out shipping, etc. :)))
how about maintenance?
love it, thank you for sharing
Thank you so much Sam! Looking forward to creating more fun projects on the channel
love it...I’m going to do it!!
Have fun! Thanks for watching!!!
Very tranquil moss art
Thank you so much! I really enjoyed the process of creating this.
Sorry to be dim but is this living moss?
Hi Pauly, all the moss used is either preserved or fake decorative moss.
@@SimplyCherCher thanks love 😁 looks great 😁
Looks beautiful! How long do they last btw? 😃
Thank you so much! This is a combination of preserved and fake moss so it should last for a long time since you don't need to do any maintenance. Just keep it away from direct sunlight so it doesn't fade. Hope this helps!
Did she use real or fake? Is the stuff in the bags fake?
Hi Sarah, Yes! I used fake moss from craft stores. They come in bags.
Thanks exactly what I was looking for
ahhhh perfect!!! Hope you have fun making your own moss art piece
Hi.. I love this plz give me material instructions plz..
Hi Rahul, sorry for the delay! Send me your email and I'll get that over to you.
